🌺 Poppy 🌺

One of this week’s grooms has been pretty little Cockapoo, Poppy. Poppy goes to hydrotherapy on a regular basis to help with a problem with her knees - so her owners wanted a short haircut so that her coat doesn’t get knotty from being in and out of water so much, and to keep her cool and comfortable in the warmer weather. Poppy is always so well behaved when she comes to visit, and is a pleasure to have in the salon! 🩷🐾

Each dog that visits Little Bear Dog Grooming has their own personalised grooming plan tailored to their individual needs, and taking into account their breed, coat type, lifestyle, and so on.

Little Bichon Frise, Teddy, visits the salon every 5 weeks for a full groom. This includes a visual health check, thorough bath & blow dry, and full styling of his coat using products selected specifically for him 🛁✂️

💖 Maisie 💖

Meet Maisie - the oh-so-adorable Golden Retriever who has been in this week for her 3 monthly pamper session. Doesn't she look like she's smiling from ear to ear after her bath and haircut? She is clearly loving her fresh new look! See you again soon Maisie! 🥰🐾

Over the weekend I took the first step in studying “Zoopharmacognosy” by attending a workshop in North Devon. The workshop inspired me so much that I’ve purchased some reading material to further my knowledge in this field, and I think my little bear Lilly approves - which is good news as she’s going to be my guinea pig! 😅

💛 Theo 💛

Theo the Cockapoo usually visits monthly for a bath, brush out, and teeth clean. On this month’s visit his owners asked for him to also have a haircut, keeping his beautiful coat full and floofy and leaving his ears long and natural. Isn’t he just adorable?! 🥰🐾

4 year old Alaskan Malamute cross German Shepherd, Scout, is a little bit excited that the weekend is just around the corner! 😆

This gorgeous boy visits once a month for a thorough bath & blow dry, de-shed, and to have his teeth cleaned. He’s always such a good boy and I look forward to his visits - see you again next month Scout! 🥰🐾

🩶 Bailey 🩶

One of this week’s grooms has been 3 year old Bailey, the Golden Doodle (Golden Retriever cross Poodle), who came in for a short summer haircut.

This photo doesn’t really show just how big Bailey is… He’s huge!! But despite his VERY large size, he is the gentlest boy and always has perfect manners when he comes to visit 🥰🐾

💙 Wilfy 💙

Patterdale Terrier, Wilfy, is an older gentleman at 12 years of age - although he’s so lively and energetic that you’d never think it! He has a particularly thick coat so his recent visit was for a short summer trim to help keep him cool and comfortable in the warmer weather. Isn’t he such a handsome boy?! 🥰🐾

Introducing Alfie the Cockapoo, who’s been in to see me this week for his regular bath and haircut at the grooming salon! 🛁✂️ This handsome boy has been visiting for me just under a year, and is always so well behaved for his appointments. 4 year old Cockapoo, Bobo, has been visiting me regularly for almost 2 years since her last groomer retired. Bobo has been in recently for a shorter trim to help keep her nice and cool ready for the summer weather ☀️ She is a very sweet natured and placid girly - so much so that she makes my job easy! I’m pleased to announce that I’m back in the salon after having the all clear from the doctor. Thank you all for your patience whilst I took some time off to recover - your loyalty and continued custom is very much appreciated! 🩷

My diary is now open for July to December - if you usually block-book your appointments with me, you will receive a text over the next fortnight with your planned appointments for the remainder of the year.

⚠️ Important Customer Notice ⚠️

As some of you are already aware, I’ve been off work sick since last Friday. I was hoping to have returned to work by now, however I’m currently awaiting test results from the GP as my recovery has been painfully slow to say the least. As such I’ve decided it’s best to stay off work until these results are back and I’ve received appropriate treatment/made a full recovery.

I’ll be reaching out to customers whose appointments need to be rescheduled due to this, and will prioritise getting you booked back in as soon as possible once I’m feeling well enough to return to work. Sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you all for your patience and continued support.

💚 Enzo 💚

9 month old Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla, Enzo, had his very first grooming session last week; he came in for a bath and blow dry, and a gentle introduction to the sights and sounds of the grooming salon 🛁

This handsome pup was a pleasure to work with and took everything completely in his stride. In fact, he did so well and was so relaxed, that he even took a nap on the grooming table after his bath and blow dry! Such a good boy! 🥰🐾

🩵 Duke 🩵

I’m officially back in the salon, and on Saturday I had the loveliest end to a very busy week - meeting 4 month old Bassett Hound puppy, Duke 🥰

This adorable little fella came in for his first puppy groom which included a bath & blow dry and a nail trim, and did amazingly well for a first timer. Needless to say he has completely melted my heart - those long ears of his are just too cute to handle! 😍❤️🐾

💙 Toby 💙

Say hello to a lighter, smarter Toby after his recent hand stripping session! Hand stripping is where we remove dead coat by hand (instead of trimming the coat with clippers/scissors) which helps the coat retain its natural properties. Look how much hair we removed on this visit! 🤩❤️🐾

Gorgeous Greta is a standard wire-haired Dachshund, and she’s recently been in for her 6 monthly hand strip. Here she is waiting in the shop for her Mum to collect her - freshly groomed and feeling fabulous! Isn’t she absolutely adorable? 😍🐾

3 year old Buddy the Cavapoo has been a loyal customer of mine since he was just 12 weeks old. Every 6 weeks, Buddy visits to be pampered with a relaxing bath, blow dry, and a fresh haircut! 🛁✂️ He is always so well behaved when he visits and is a pleasure to have in the salon. Isn’t he just the cutest? 😍🐾

🩷 Poppy 🩷

Meet Poppy, the West Highland White Terrier who has been coming to Little Bear Dog Grooming for the last 9 months.

When she first started visiting, Poppy was fearful of having her face trimmed. With previous groomers this often resulted in Poppy’s face being left unfinished. However, by taking things slowly with Poppy and respecting her boundaries, she now lets me trim her face with no concerns at all! 🥰✂️

Here's to celebrating small victories and the power of building trust, one paw at a time.

🧡 Maggie 🧡

Introducing Maggie, the oh-so-sweet Cockapoo 😍 Maggie was quite nervous when she first started visiting the salon last summer; however after 8 months of regular pampering sessions she now enters the salon feeling much more confident than ever before! Seeing Maggie’s transformation from timid to self-assured has been truly heart warming and one of the many reasons that I love my job - well done Maggie! ❤️🐾

🐣 Monty 🐣

2 year old Monty the Schnoodle (Miniature Schnauzer cross Poodle), had his very first visit to Little Bear Dog Grooming yesterday - just in time for the Easter break! 🐰 This lovely little lad is so sweet natured and he was an absolute star for every part of the groom; it was a real pleasure to work with him! Isn’t he just adorable?! 💙🐾

🐣 Mabel 🐣

11 month old German Shepherd, Mabel, has been visiting me since she was just 4 months old. Mabel’s owners have been very dedicated to making sure she’s been trained and socialised properly and it really shows. She’s also done brilliantly well at getting used to being professionally groomed and always arrives at the salon in a happy and bouncy mood! 🥰 Well done Mabel! ❤️🐾

🐣 Bella 🐣

Pretty little Shih-Tzu, Bella, is a senior dog at 11 years old. She’s the sweetest little lady and even though she has limited sight only having one eye, she always behaves so perfectly when she comes for her groom. We’ve even started adding ultrasonic teeth cleaning to her appointments which she takes completely in her stride - proving that you really can teach an old dog new tricks! Well done beautiful Bella! 💖🐾

🐣 Bear 🐣

Bear, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, has recently been to visit for his regular bath and pamper ready for the Easter break! He’s been making great progress with getting used to the sights and sounds of the grooming salon during his regular visits, and he always turns heads when customers come into the shop and spot him having his spa day. What a handsome boy!

We have an exciting new product available in the salon - The Pawdinary “Blown Away” De-shedding shampoo!

This salon treatment shampoo removes dead coat on all shedding breeds. It is packed with natural plant extracts and a gentle natural cleanser, whilst also hydrating and nourishing the coat adding a brilliant shine.

Gorgeous Labrador/Collie cross, Bonnie, has been my model this week. I’ve tested the shampoo out on her heavily shedding double coat - and what a difference it’s made! 🤩 I’ve never seen so much hair come out during Bonnie’s groom as it did after using this shampoo! (See comments for video/photo)

This week I’ve had the honour of grooming 11 month old Riker, the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, ready for his first time competing at Crufts! 🥇

Organised and hosted by The Kennel Club, Crufts is the largest show of its kind in the world! Not only am I proud to be Riker’s groomer, I’m even prouder that this amazing boy (and his very dedicated owners) have achieved entry to Crufts at such a young age!

🌺 Poppy 🌺

Cavapoo, Poppy, has been visiting me ever since she was a teeny tiny puppy at just 3 months old.

Puppies should ideally start having regular “puppy introduction” grooms as soon as they’ve had their second vaccinations and are allowed out on walks. By doing so, the puppy is introduced gently and slowly to the grooming processes in a way that doesn’t overwhelm or upset them.

Poppy is a great example of why introducing puppies to grooming as soon as possible is so important; she’s now almost 3 years old and is impeccably well behaved when she visits - and I can tell that she genuinely enjoys being pampered! 🥰❤️🐾
