💛 A very special goodbye 💛

Last week I had the pleasure of giving lovely Sid, the 9 year old Deerhound cross Lurcher, his final spruce up with me in Cullompton before I head off to South Wales next week.

Sid has been a part of my journey in Devon from the very beginning. When I first moved to Cullompton in January 2021 with my rescue dog Mishka, Sid was the first dog she made friends with, and the bond they shared has always made his visits extra special 🥰🥰

When Sid first came to me, he’d never been to a professional groomer before - so the experience was a little overwhelming for him. He wasn’t keen on baths (especially having his head washed!) or being up on the grooming table. But with time, patience, and a few tasty treats along the way, Sid found his confidence - and what a transformation it’s been! These days he’s an absolute gentleman, happily hopping in and out of the bath, and on and off the grooming table, whenever asked. He’s become such a delight to work with and is a real credit to his owner.

Speaking of whom - Sid’s lovely owner, is also Welsh, and has ties not too far from where I’m relocating. So while our regular appointments may have come to an end, the door will always be open for Sid to pop in for a cuddle or a pamper session whenever he’s in the area! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

🧡 Bryn 🧡

This sweet little sausage is just 4 months old and came in to see me this week for his second puppy intro groom - and what a superstar he was! 💫 Bryn is getting more confident with each visit, and it’s such a joy to help him learn that grooming can be a calm, gentle, and even fun experience! 🛁🧼💕

Starting pups like Bryn early with short, positive sessions helps them get used to the sounds, sensations, and routines of grooming without stress or fear. It helps lay the foundation for a lifetime of happy grooms, healthy coats, and wagging tails!

So far, Bryn’s had a bath, blow dry (with lots of cuddles in my lap!), nail trim, and a gentle paw pad tidy - and next month, he’ll be back for his third puppy session where we’ll begin slowly introducing scissors and some light trimming around his feet. He’s doing brilliantly, and I’m so proud of him! 💙🐾

💙 Ben 💙

Meet Ben – the sweetest 9-year-old Sprocker Spaniel with the most soulful eyes and the fluffiest spaniel ears!

Ben came to see me yesterday for his first appointment at my new Caerphilly location. He was a little unsure at first (totally understandable – new place, new smells, new human!), but once we got started, he settled in beautifully. 💛 He especially loved his bath – the gentle massage with shampoo on those gorgeous ears seemed to win him over in no time!

His lovely owner asked for a neat, short trim on his body and legs while keeping his signature spaniel ears full and fabulous – a classic look for a classy gent like Ben. He took it all in his stride, and it was such a pleasure gaining his trust and watching him relax. He was an absolute star for his first appointment - what a smart and gentle boy! 🐶✨

It’s such a pleasure to be back in my hometown of Caerphilly after four wonderful years grooming in Devon. Meeting lovely dogs just like Ben (and their equally lovely humans) is exactly why I absolutely love what I do ❤️🐾

💚 Toby 💚

Toby is the most charming Border Terrier who’s been visiting me for over 3 years now!

Toby is a true gent with a cheeky twinkle in his eye – always friendly, always happy, and always impeccably behaved during his grooms. In fact, he’s one of very few Border Terriers I know who doesn’t try to bite the blow dryer… quite the superstar! 💫

Toby’s appointments include hand-stripping, a specialised grooming technique where I gently remove dead hair from the coat by hand instead of clipping. This helps maintain the coat’s natural texture, keeps the skin healthy, and ensures that distinctive Border Terrier look is preserved. It’s ideal for wire-coated breeds like Toby, and he handles it like a pro every time! 💪✨

A little breed fact: Border Terriers were originally bred for fox hunting, which explains their bold spirit and endless curiosity. But don’t be fooled by that working background - they’re also incredibly affectionate, loyal, and love being around people!

Toby, it’s been an absolute pleasure looking after you over the years - thank you for being the best behaved little Border Terrier! I’ll miss your visits very much when I move back to Caerphilly soon! ❤️🐾

🧡 Bruno 🧡

This handsome Golden Retriever x Labrador mix came in to see me this week for his regular pamper session, and what an absolute gentleman he is! 🛁💛

Bruno is a rescue dog, and as many of you know, rescue pups hold a very special place in my heart. My own sweet girl Mishka - who inspired me to become a groomer - was a rescue too, and I’ll forever be grateful for the love and lessons she gave me.

Bruno has been through a lot in his young life already, including double hip surgery, so I take extra special care during his grooms to keep him comfy and make sure there’s no strain on those legs. With lots of gentle handling, and breaks as needed, Bruno gets the spa day he truly deserves.

He’s such a calm, well-mannered boy and clearly enjoys being pampered - especially those extra belly rubs! Rescue dogs really are something special ❤️🐾

🩵 Harry 🩵

Yesterday I had a visit from Harry – the beautiful black Cocker Spaniel with a heart of gold and the gentlest soul you could ever meet. For the last four years, every 8 weeks, Harry has brightened my grooming table with his calm nature, waggy tail, and those soulful eyes that just melt your heart. 🐶✨

Harry’s early story is a mystery — a rescue boy whose past remains unknown — but what we do know is how deeply loved he is now by his incredible family, who have given him the warm, secure, and happy life he deserves. And let me tell you, he absolutely adores being pampered! He laps up every moment of grooming with total trust, always relaxed, always kind, and always making my day just that bit better. 💖✂️🫧

Yesterday was Harry’s final appointment with me before I move back to my hometown of Caerphilly - and what an emotional one it was. Saying goodbye to this special little lad is not easy. He’s more than a regular client - he’s been part of my grooming journey from the beginning and has very much stolen a little piece of my heart.

To Harry and his family: thank you for the trust, the loyalty, and the love. I’ll miss you terribly little Harry, but I know you’ll keep stealing hearts wherever you go ❤️🐾

🧡 Clemmie 🧡

After three whole years of pampering this gorgeous girl every six weeks, I finally got a post-groom photo of the one and only Clemmie the Cockapoo! 🎉📸

Clemmie has the thickest, curliest coat and the happiest little heart to match - always bouncing, always wiggling, and always spreading joy. Her “short but still fluffy” trim keeps her cool and comfy, while we keep her signature round face and glorious bell-bottom ears nice and full just how her lovely humans like them.

Today, her amazing owner came prepared with Clemmie’s favourite treats so I could (finally!) get her to stay still for a moment. And voilà - the photo we’ve been chasing for 3 years! 😍🫶🏼

With my move back to Caerphilly just around the corner, I’ve been reflecting on the pups who’ve made my journey in Cullompton so special. Clemmie, your happy tail wags and boundless cuddles have truly been a highlight of my time here. Thank you for being a bright, curly ball of sunshine every single visit! 💛🐾

🩷 Welcome, Willow! 🩷

This gorgeous 5-year-old labradoodle came in for her first visit to Little Bear Dog Grooming today, after her previous groomer recently moved away.

Willow was a little unsure when it was time for her dad to leave (you can tell they have a lovely bond), but with some gentle reassurance and a few tasty treats, she soon found her confidence and began exploring the salon, taking in all the new sights and smells.

She was a star for her bath and blow-dry; we kept the dryer on the lowest setting for her legs and feet, as she’s quite sensitive in those areas. To keep her as comfortable as possible, I hand-scissored her legs instead of using clippers - avoiding any vibrations that might bother her. Every dog is different, and I always tailor the grooming experience to suit each individual’s needs, especially for our more sensitive souls.

Her owner asked for a soft, natural finish on her face, so we kept those beautiful longer furnishings to frame her sweet expression. ✂️🐶 (Check the comments to see Willow before her haircut!)

Willow took it all completely in her stride today and was an absolute delight to have in the salon. A lovely fresh start for this special girl, and I can’t wait to welcome her back soon! ❤️🐾

🐾 Meet Frank! 🐾

This sweet 5-year-old Lhasa Apso came in for his very first visit with me this week, and I couldn’t have asked for a more special appointment. He was a little nervous at first (totally understandable!), but so gentle and sweet once he settled in. It didn’t take long before we were best buds! 🥰🥰

With the warm weather we’ve been having, I gave Frank a teddy bear cut — short on the body to keep him nice and cool, with longer/fluffier legs and a rounded face for that irresistibly cuddly look - isn’t he just the cutest little fluffball? 🧸🐾 (Check the comments for Frank’s “before” photo)

This was a really exciting appointment for me, too - even after over 4 years of grooming, Frank was the first Lhasa Apso I’ve had the pleasure of working with! They’re such an interesting breed; originally bred to guard Tibetan monasteries, which makes their calm watchfulness and quiet dignity even more charming… And they were once considered sacred in Tibet and believed to bring good luck! ✨

Frank, you were such a superstar - you’ve left such a lasting impression that I now think I need to add a Lhasa Apso to my list of breeds to own! Thank you for trusting me as your new groomer - I can’t wait to have you back in the salon soon handsome boy! ❤️🐾

✨ First Visit Glow-Up for Lovely Lyra! ✨

This beautiful 2-year-old Cavalier Spaniel came in for her first groom with me this week, and I’m already smitten. Lyra was such a gentle soul from the moment she arrived - sweet, affectionate, and full of those signature Cavalier cuddles. 💕 She won me over instantly!

Lyra came in for a full pamper session, which included two luxurious shampoos and a nourishing natural conditioner to keep her coat healthy and soft. She wasn’t too sure about the blow dryer at first, so we took things at her pace - and she ended up snuggled on my lap while we finished drying her with lots of reassurance and love. It made the whole experience much calmer for her and honestly, it was one of the highlights of my day. 🥹

We finished off with a paw pad tidy, nail trim, and a gentle scissor tidy around her feet, legs, ears, and tail. Lyra’s mum wanted to keep her coat natural, and I think that was the perfect choice - she looks stunning and still very much herself, just a tidier version!

It was such a pleasure working with Lyra - she was incredibly well-behaved, patient, and so loving throughout the whole process. I’m very lucky to have had her in the salon this week, and I’m already looking forward to her next visit. 💗

🩶 Milo 🩶

Say hello to the incredibly sweet Milo! This beautiful 2-year-old Cockapoo came in for his first groom with me last week, and what an absolute darling he turned out to be!

Milo was a bit unsure when he first arrived - it’s always a little scary when your usual groomer moves away and everything feels new. But after a couple of squeaky ball throws and some gentle encouragement, he was happily trotting around the salon, tail wagging and ready to take on his appointment like a little champ! 🎾💪

His groom was all about keeping things short, neat and easy to manage, while still leaving him with that signature fluffy Cockapoo charm. Milo was a star for his bath, blow dry, and haircut - what a good boy! He did get a little worried when it came to nail clipping (those clippers can look very suspicious), but here at Little Bear, I always work at my doggy clients’ pace. Trust is everything, so Milo will never be asked to do something he’s not ready for.

We finished off his visit with some well-earned cuddles on my lap while he waited for his lovely owner to collect him - the perfect end to a very special first visit. Welcome to the Little Bear Dog Grooming family, Milo! You’ve stolen a little piece of my heart already! 💛🐾

🩵 Woody 🩵

Serious face = ready to work! Woody shows up to every grooming appointment like it’s his full-time job - and he loves it!

This lovely Cockapoo has been visiting me for 3 years now, and every time he walks through the door, he’s ready to get the job done. Grooming isn’t just a pamper session for Woody - it’s a task he takes pride in! He’s calm, well-behaved, and always gives us that “I’ve got this” look.

But beneath that focused little face is the sweetest, most affectionate boy. I absolutely adore Woody and his work-hard, love-harder attitude! Needless to say, he puts a smile on my face every time he walks through my door! ❤️🐾
