Something was buzzing at the Bank Holiday Fayre other than the atmosphere, the wildlife were abundant.
Tiverton Beekeepers loved the panto too and wrote to us with these kind words.
"On behalf of Tiverton Beekeepers I’d like to thank all the actors and actresses who took part in the Asian Hornet Panto at Plymtree Country Fair.
This is the first time anything like this has been seen anywhere in the world and you made it a roaring success.
We wanted to make sure everyone knows about the Asian Hornet, you certainly achieved that.
Don’t forget about the Asian Hornet Watch app."
Many thanks & well done . Tony Chairman TBK
Here's a short video of the kids enjoying the main ring experience !
A lovely memory from last year with the kids enjoying the fresh air and the hounds.
SHEAF TOSSING ! what's that ? you may well ask.
The sheaf toss (Scottish Gaelic: sguab) is a traditional Scottish agricultural sport event originally contested at country fairs. A pitchfork is used to hurl a burlap bag stuffed with straw over a horizontal bar above the competitor's head.Three chances are given to each competitor to cleanly go over the bar. After all challengers have made their attempts, the bar is raised and all successful competitors move on to the new height. This continues until all but one athlete is eliminated.
The 2022 winner was local lad Paul Godfey who won the Plymtree Sheaf Tossing Shield , which is displayed the Blacksmith Arms !!
The fayres success is completely down to the many volunteers who help out throughout the year and on the big weekend. Thankyou to everyone.
The horse shown in 2019 probably holds the record for the hottest event ever which sadly meant that the later classes were cancelled. We did however get to see some riders and horses in action.
It was also the last year for Pat William's to get the signs and ring ropes out. 2021s show will have a new organising team so lots to look forward to.
The vintage vehicles part of the show seems to grow each year with many enthusiasts returning each year. 2019 saw the entry of vintage tractors.
August Bank holiday Monday without the Country Fayre is a bit like strawberries without the cream.
Instead we can share pictures of the big day last year.
Here are a selection from the After Eights tent.
The big presentation! We can now reveal how much we have raised for the RDA. £1400 well done and Thank you to all volunteers and visitors who have helped make a small contribution to the happiness of these children's daily lives.
