๐ŸŽ‰ Happy 1st Birthday to Pet Pantry Cumbernauld ๐ŸŽ‰

One year ago, we launched Pet Pantry Cumbernauld with a simple goal: to keep pets and their families together. Today, we are celebrating all the support that has made this dream a reality!

To our incredible supporters, generous donors, and dedicated volunteers: thank you! Because of you, weโ€™ve been able to provide thousands of meals, fill empty bowls, and bring peace of mind to families facing tough times. Youโ€™ve helped us make sure that pets stay healthy, happy, and in the loving homes they deserve, and that their humans feel part of a community of pet owners all looking out for each other.

As we reflect on this first year, our hearts are filled with gratitude. Together, we have proven that a community united can make a real difference. And this is just the beginning. With your continued support, we look forward to helping even more pets and families in need.

Hereโ€™s to another year of full bellies, wagging tails, and a stronger, kinder community. Thank you for being part of our journey! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿพ

Thank you Cumbernauld! You are amazing! ๐Ÿพ

We have been blown away by the support from the community after having to move premises following the recent trouble. Thank you so much to everyone who expressed their support and told us how much our work means to the community. As an organisation run entirely by volunteers, this means so much to us.

This morning we began the move to a new garage nearby to our old one, still at the Salvation Army in Kildrum.

We want to thank some specific people:
Huge thanks to our volunteers who helped us move the first round of stock this morning. Massive shout out to our fantastic Kildrum community police officer from Police Scotland, who not only came and made sure that our volunteers could move us in safety, but actually helped us move.

Our thanks to Police Scotland Lanarkshire, Sanctuary Cumbernauld, Jamie Hepburn MSP, and our Ward 4 councillors, especially Councillor Adam Smith - Cumbernauld East and Barry McCulloch for their help and support with this entire situation.

Thank you to the Kildrum community, in particular, for their ongoing support of what we are doing. This is includes:
Kildrum Regeneration Trust (Kildrum Community Council please share) for giving us a new location;
M Edwards Roofing for fitting us in to do an urgent repair; and
Wheely clean bins for cleaning away all the moss in front of our new premises for free so that our volunteers didnโ€™t slip as we moved all our stock.
It also includes all our neighbours who have spoken to us to express support and offer help. While we cover the whole of Cumbernauld, we really have been embraced by Kildrum.

There is still a lot of work to be done, and we need to find new racking or shelving to fit out the new garage.

However, we should be able to reopen soon, and that is a direct result of the backing of the community. So, from all of us at Pet Pantry: thank you! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿพ

CLOUDEN ROAD, KILDRUM

If you have dogs then please be very careful in the area around our garage, in front of the garages opposite the Salvation Army (area circled on map). It is possible, though hopefully unlikely, that there may be substances there that could be toxic to dogs, and we would never want anyone to get hurt or unwell.

Thank you for your understanding. Due to the nature of the situation we have limited comments.

๐Ÿšจ IMPORTANT SERVICE NEWS ๐Ÿšจ
We are pausing all services this week after our trustees had items deliberately thrown at them at our premises today.

The safety of our volunteers, service users and visitors is our top priority and we are closing our premises in Kildrum until we can guarantee that.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused. Some locations will still have packs of pet food. If you are really stuck then please message us and we will see if we can do anything directly but we cannot guarantee anything as safety is the main concern just now.

I will also make a separate post but if you have dogs then please be very careful in the area around our garage, in front of the garages opposite the Salvation Army (area circled on map). It is possible, though hopefully unlikely, that there may be substances there that could be toxic to dogs, and we would never want anyone to get hurt or unwell.

Thank you for your understanding. Due to the nature of the situation we have limited comments.

We recently donated a lot of dog food and products to Homeless Project Scotland because they now have had to start taking dogs in, as so many of the people who use their shelter have dogs. They do just a great job and it would be a terrible shame if it closed.

Have you signed our petition below to ask the First Minister of Scotland ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ John Swinney MSP to stop the enforcement notice to close the night shelter down in the middle of a housing and homeless emergency. over 30,000 people have signed this already. This morning our lovely Kay visited the PDSA and donated some items we are not able to use (blankets and Renal dog food)

The PDSA are always very grateful for donations (as are we!)

As always, anything we are not able to give to our service users, will go to another reputable charity to ensure it is used in the best possible way!

Did you know that dogs can see blue and yellow? Thatโ€™s why those are Pet Pantryโ€™s colours. When some of the Pet Pantry dogs enjoyed visiting the newly restored Brian Miller mural in Meadow View, Kildrum, we reached out to artist Danielle Nixon Art to compliment her on her fantastic job.

She responded by sending us this amazing dog-vision filter of the underpass. How wonderful that the dogs who use this underpass to get to Cumbernauld House Park get to experience this too! Whether you live in Kildrum or not, itโ€™s very cool to get to see the world how our dogs see it! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿพ

Help us save a life and foster a bunny this Winter. โ„๏ธ

The trees are changing, and that means it's nearly time for temperatures to permanently drop. ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ

We are preparing for the Autumnal changes and will be moving all our buns who need indoor placements into indoor foster homes by 31st October.

The temperature drop means our need for indoor foster homes hugely increases. Could you consider helping short term foster a bunny indoors over Winter?

We cannot take in any indoor rabbits over Nov-Feb without indoor foster homes available.

All set up will be provided including safe puppy pens. ๐Ÿฐ

Each year we distribute halloween costumes to local children through our referral packs and outreach work.

Our aim is to ensure all children have the chance to join in the halloween fun with their friends whilst alleviating the stress for parents/caregivers who may otherwise struggle to afford a costume.

If you have any old costumes lying around, still in good condition, we would love to take them off your hands.

You can hand them into our premises or pop them in one of our community donation drop off bins.
