Thursday morning.
I must say, I was everso anxious with this being the first time Fiadh was back out with me after last week's nightmare. Typically, it was unnecessary, as she was exactly like she always was in her previous 2 years, an excellent group walker.
Well, it's a true saying you need to get right back on that horse, after a throw. Glad it's done!

This morning's walk was going really well, with all 7 dogs enjoying the frozen grass terrain. That was until we met up with a few other dogs, had a brief chat, only to find Fiadh had disappeared as we went to move on.
No obvious reasons as to why she would run. No loud noises. No rough playing. No
aggressive behaviours. Nothing!
Fiadh was familiar with her pack. No tension within the grouping.
Her disappearance lasted 5½ hours, during which he time we had only 2 or 3 credible sightings, about 1½ mile's from where I last saw her, heading towards Strathblane.
Multiple dog walkers were approached.. Telephone numbers shared. Social media pages swamped with Lost Dog appeals.
I was starting to lose hope as the temperature was dropping and darkness was setting in, when I got a call from her owner to say that she had been found in the East Carpark, presumably the last place she left Mugdock from.
I must have covered in excess of 40 miles driving up and down and around, searching aimlessly. Fellow dog walkers were on alert, even clients whose afternoon walk had to be cancelled, were posting onto social media pages on my behalf.
To every single person who helped, showed concern, offered to search when the had finished their daily work - I thank you all, from the bottom of my heart!!❤️
The stress of losing someone else's beloved family pet,is not an easy one to bear. The sense of hopelessness is overwhelming.
Needless to say, when I eventually saw Fiadh, safe and well, I broke down. Relief and joy, all bundled together.
I have a long weekend to calm myself down and contemplate what happens next.
Even after 8 years of doing this job, the sense of responsibility never leaves you, and when things go wrong, the guilt kicks in as you ask, what did I do wrong?
Thankfully we have a happy ending this time, but I still keep asking myself, "Yes, but what if....?"

Another great walk.
Arlo is off recovering after his 'man op',which left an opportunity for Jet to join this group for a one off, extra walk. He integrated brilliantly with no cross woofs!
