Update
I was a little panicked at starting the weaning process. I’ve never ‘done’ puppies before and having read up on everything to do with puppies and weaning them, I was prepared for it to take a few days.
Not so!
The very first meal, their faces fell into the food until every last scrap had gone! ♥️

Update
No puppies, today! x
Rita arrived with Nacho - they’d been found in Glenrothes, with their leads still attached. Sadly, their owner never came forward to bring them home.
Love4Dogs Rescue stepped in and agreed to take both Rita and Nacho, and find homes for them both. L4DR has taken almost all of the strays of Fife, since February 2024.
Nacho, went down to England to be fostered and has since been adopted by his foster family. He is literally living his best life and I couldn’t be happier for the wee man.
Rita was more tricky to foster out, as she was quite stand offish, nervous and became easily overwhelmed. I brought her into my home, to help her confidence and give her the time to feel better about life.
I had my suspicions she might be pregnant and indeed she is! Rita had an ultrasound today and is carrying at least 3 puppies.
The tom foolery happened before Rita arrived, with me. As she was a stray, going through the motions of her being neutered, this had to be delayed as it was important to give some time for her family to get in touch. When it was time for her be neutered, it was very much apparent Rita was pregnant.
Whilst they were both with me, there was no inkling that Rita was in season and Nacho never showed any interest in her, in that way.
Rita is in great health, the puppies are all good sizes and Rita is eating the very best of the very best food and is positively blooming. Her confidence has grown so much and she has become a super chilled, happy little dog who loves the company of The Little Herd and who follows me round, like my little shadow.
I’ve set up a maternity suite for her to have her babies.
I’ll keep you all updated on what’s happening, as it happens. ❤️
I am delighted to say that Vanilla is now ready for her forever home.
Whilst in the public shelter in Serbia, she was literally torn apart by other dogs and was in the most awful mess. It resulted in her having to have skin grafts, it was that bad.
Vanilla was moved to Romania to give her the very best chance of a new life. No one wanted her or were keen to take on a dog with skin, like her’s. Love4Dogs Rescue sent me a few photos and I instantly agreed to take her - she had soft, kind, gentle eyes and deserved a chance.
When Vanilla arrived, she wasn’t in the best shape - since being with me, her skin has gone from being revolting with open sores, crusty bits and red angry skin to her being a beautiful calm oasis of loveliness. She was tearing herself apart and was so miserable - it was hard to see her, so uncomfortable and in pain.
Vanilla started out on antibiotics, Metacam and steroids to calm her skin down, to fight any infection and to heal the open sores. I was also giving her Manuka honey, Turmeric and Black Pepper supplements and CBD oil to also help.
Vanilla has now moved on to Apoquel, which she will have to stay on for life - this is something that needs to be factored in, when adopting her. It is intended for long term use and isn’t as harsh as steroids. It costs roughly £60 per month for the Apoquel though you could request a prescription from your vets, to then use an online vets who would be cheaper.
Vanilla has blossomed - she is a funny, loving utterly adorable creature who is just so delighted to be alive.
For me, it will be a huge wrench to let her go - I said when I first had her, that I could easily give her up but as she’s bloomed into the quirky, adorable clown she’s stolen my whole heart.
Vanilla can live with children 10+
Vanilla can live with both dogs and cats
Vanilla is lead trained
Vanilla is toilet trained and super clean
Vanilla is fully vaccinated
Vanilla is neutered

It all started with Mila - super complicated, reactive and an all round pain in the bum!
Then Link needed help - he’d been dumped at a police station in Glasgow. He’d shut down and was super aggressive and broken. His trust in humans completely destroyed.
Narla then came to stay - she’d spent her life on a landing in a house - she’d never been outside of the house or the wee garden, in her short life. Fearful of everything and everyone.
Lastly, Mila Two arrived - complex, reactive to people and other dogs. Scared stiff of her own shadow and just so overwhelmed with day to day life.
None of these precious souls can be rehomed - so they live with me. They spend their days together playing and having fun.
They are all part of the Love4Dogs Rescue family - their day to day needs are paid for by me as my gift to the rescue. It would be impossible to keep this amount of dogs long term and charge for them - it would literally cripple the rescue. They’d not be able to help dogs in either the UK or abroad so I do my little bit to help.
I like to think they are living their best lives with no worries of the big bad world; so very loved and adored. ❤️
Vanilla is nearly at the end of her meds to heal her skin. Then, she is back to the vets for a further check up.
All going well, Vanilla will be ready to continue her journey to a forever home, when she’s got the all clear.
Vanilla is a funny wee thing - bursting with character and always has a lot to say, for herself. Not in a barky way, but she tells you stories and chats away, about her day.
Vanilla has had a horrible life - no one wanted her because she wasn’t picture perfect and she has scars from when she was attacked in the public shelter in Serbia.
She loves her bed and especially loves when I change the bedding; she gets to smoosh her face in the fresh blankets and rearrange her bed, just the way she likes it!
Watching these dogs that have never known anything other than a street or an outdoor space, loving their creature comforts, is precious.
This is why we do, what we do, for these dogs. ❤️
Sharon and I had the immense pleasure of waving off wee Nacho, this lunch time.
Nacho came in as a Fife Stray - sadly no one came forward for the wee man.
Huge thanks to the Love4Dogs Rescue team for coming to this little man’s rescue and for taking him under their wing. They have found a fantastic home for this special little chap.
A massive thank you to Colin for coming up from England to fetch him back down to his new family in England.
Colin is one of the nicest men, I know - he came to our rescue a couple of weeks back and had the pleasure of Sharon’s driving and my map reading skills. Every now and then he’d give the right directions to my wrong directions from the back of the car! Without him we’d never have made it back to Scotland!
Shine bright, Nacho - what a happy ending, this has been. ❤️
Say hello to this darling little dog.
She was running down the middle of a super busy road.
An angel stopped and coaxed her into her car.
Kelly at Love4Dogs Rescue sent me a message asking me if I’d like to take her.
I’ve named her Pigeon Pie.
Pigeon will be with me in a few weeks time.
Welcome to the L4DR family, little one. ❤️
