All Creatures great and Small was established in 1992 and became a registered charity in 2001. The sanctuary cares for unwanted, abandoned, neglected and abused animals. We currently care for approximately 107 animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, goats, chickens, horses, geese, sheep, pigs and many more. This ensures a high standard of care for the animals, which is required in accordance with Animal Welfare Laws. ADCH Accredited

Meet Merlin, one of three dogs surrendered to the Sanctuary this week 🐾

Merlin has found himself at our Rescue due to him failing his sheep dog training 🐑🐏

He was sold to a farm with the idea of him quickly joining the other Collie’s in their daily tasks. It was then noticed by the owners that he had absolutely 0 interest in herding livestock & would MUCH rather cuddles, long walks & playing fetch 🎾

This gorgeous cuddle bug will be ready for adoption very soon after a vet health check assessment.

Did you know that it’s part of your cat’s normal behaviour to hide? 🐈‍⬛🐈

Whether this is finding a safe place to snooze, lying in wait to pounce on a toy or just because they’re relaxing in a space that feels secure.

Cheese & Crackers have been with us for 4 days & have found this sudden change to their lives very difficult.

Their igloo has become their new haven & has greatly improved their welfare ❤️

CALLING ALL GUINEA PIG OWNERS❗️

Cranberry is a 2 year old female who has recently lost her friend 😞

Guinea pigs can live alone but thrive best in pairs.
The loss of a partner can lead to depression & illness, especially if the guinea pig was part of a pair rather than a larger group.

Cranberry has sadly started to show signs of distress & therefore the Welfare Team are very concerned for her 💔

This sweet girl is in desperate need of a new companion that can bring out her confidence once more.

Hector the Pig 📖❤️ In the fields of love, where kindness grows, Lived Hector the pig, as the story goes. Since 2013, he made his way, To All Creatures Great and Small, where he would stay. A snout so wise, a heart so true, With eyes that sparkled, like morning dew. He trotted through years with gentle grace, Bringing warmth to this special place. A friend to all, with a quiet charm, He made his home on that loving farm. Through sunlit days and starry nights, He filled the world with softer lights. Visitors came, their hearts in tow, To meet dear Hector, the star of the show. A nuzzle, a grunt, a playful cheer, He made them smile, year after year. Now the fields feel quiet, the air is still, For Hector has journeyed beyond the hill. But in the hearts of all he knew, His spirit lingers, steady and true. Rest well, dear friend, in pastures wide, With love unending by your side. Forever missed, forever adored, Hector the pig, at peace, restored ❤️

Our Story

All Creatures great and Small was established in 1992 and became a registered charity in 2001. We operate a programme of rehabilitation and re-homing for unwanted, abandoned and sometimes neglected or abused animals.

In 2017 we took in over 300 animals, the majority of which were placed in loving homes. In addition to our re-homing programme, we also have over 100 animals living here permanently, including chickens, horses, geese, rabbits, sheep, goats and many more!
