Clients who have appointments in the future have been sent a text asking to call Summerhill Vets Newport to rearrange. Summerdale phones are currently still open for the rest of the week. Please call Summerdale if you have an appointment to rearrange. If you have an appointment that is not urgent please call in a few weeks so we can lessen the extra calls on Summerhill.

As we enjoy the sunny days and beach outings with our furry friends, it's important to be aware of some beach hazards. One common issue is pets drinking too much sea water, which can lead to saltwater poisoning.

Signs to watch for:
- Vomiting
- Diarrhoea
- Lethargy
- Seizures

To keep your pets safe:
- Bring plenty of fresh water for them to drink.
- Encourage them to take breaks in the shade.
- Keep an eye on them while they're playing near the water.
- If you notice any symptoms of saltwater poisoning, contact us immediately.

still, nutrient-rich water.
⚠️ They produce toxins harmful to dogs; about
half of exposed dogs die.
⚠️ Most poisonings occur from drinking or
swimming in freshwater lakes and ponds.
Symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, muscle
tremors, and seizures can appear within an
hour.
⚠️ Prevent poisoning by avoiding risky areas,
checking algae warnings, and rinsing dogs after

A stray female German Shepherd has been brought to Summerdale Veterinary Centre. She is microchipped, but unfortunately, the details are not up to date. She was found roaming in Pontypool. We are in the process of contacting the dog warden.

🐱 Meet Ollie: The Resilient and Independent Feline! 🐱

Our Practice Manager Angharad has a special story to share about her beloved cat. "Ollie Purrs. He was found on the pavement at 2 days old (as he still had his umbilical cord stump). He was brought into the vets, and I took him home to be hand reared. With lots of feeding, love, and warmth, he thrived. My family and I fell in love with him and gave him a forever home. He's eleven now. He's very independent and loves a fuss on his terms. He is an indoor cat with supervised garden visits. He loves to find a warm, soft place to snooze and will only drink running water from the kitchen tap!"

Ollie’s journey from a tiny, vulnerable kitten to a confident and cherished family member is truly heartwarming. 🐾❤️
