It’s so easy for weight to creep on dogs, horses & humans!!
My friend pointed out that my old cocker spaniel was put on a bit of weight (fat-shamed 🙈), but sometimes it’s harder to notice on our own animals as we see them everyday.
🐶 Extra weight is it’s extra strain on healthy joints but if your dog is arthritic it’s even harder for them to walk comfortably.
🐕 reduced mobility is a vicious cycle of weight gain likely to get worse.
🐶 inability to walk far also means they’ll lose more range of motion in their joints.
🦴 excess weight around quadrupeds tummy’s has a negative impact on the spine. Like humans it’s essential to have a good strong core, to help avoid disc issues.
🌲 getting out on varied walks with interesting scents is a good way to increase motivation for walking (for all species!)
