Love this saying from the vets.....

To summarise for us horsey people: We are on box rest.
Vulnerable people are on strict box rest.
Most of us are allowed out for hand grazing only.
Some of us key workers are walking out under saddle.
Those on the frontline are in full work with no turnout.

At this time of restriction across the UK it is important to have a plan of action with regards to the wellbeing and management of animals in your care.

Restrictions are in place and, should these follow the rest of Europe, will likely further tighten. This may mean equestrian establishments - including livery yards- will have to reduce visitors or close completely, even to owners of the horses.

I would urge all Yard Owners to read this article giving helpful advice to plan for this time. It is better to have a plan and not use it than not have one at all:

Yard and horse owners MUST prepare for any eventuality. There is a lot of hearsay and I would advise everyone to ensure information is taken from, or verified by, official sources.

Liveries should consider the position Yard Owners face given the current and potential restrictions and should do what they can to minimise the management of their horses and reduce the workload of yard owners.
