They don't know you, and you don't know them.

Just because they look friendly, it doesn't mean they are.

ALWAYS ask the owners permission before approaching an unknown dog, they might be nervous, in training, a service dog or just grumpy and want to be left alone 😅

💥 PLEASE READ 💥

I can not stress this enough!!! This weekend DO NOT WALK YOUR BULLDOGS OR CHOWS OR PUGS OR ANY DOG infact... they can live not walking but they will die in a split second walking out in that heat....... be sure to have lemon juice and follow the advice I put on here next....

What to do it your dog over heats....👇👇

If your bulldog/dogs are overheating it is imperative that you act quickly. Initially stand them in a bath of cool water NOT COLD!!!! and pour water especially around their neck, you need to cool the blood going to the brain as in severe cases of overheating there is a risk of brain damage from hot blood going to the brain. (Don't turn the hose pipe on them, it may panic them and make them worse & and the first lot of water sat in the hose could be boiling hot water!!) Extreme cold water can send them in to shock, so make sure it's just cool water.

Place ice under their tail (just inside their bottom if you can), keep pouring cool water over them and keep calm, if you panic your dog will panic.
Your dog will go very pale as the circulation system struggles to cope.

Try get them in the bath & Keep going with the water - don't take them out of the bath until the breathing has calmed down, talk calmly to your dog - you will be soaked, your bathroom will be soaked, but you will save their life!!!!!!!!!

Once the breathing is calmer, remove them from the bath but don't dry them, they will still be very pale (inside mouth, gums and inner eyes).

Let them wander but don't make a fuss of them, your fussing may make them anxious and it could start over again. Still don't force them to drink, but make up a rehydration mix ( oralade Gi or Hydrate + for example you can buy this from amazon) and place it in a bowl for them to drink from if they wants to.

Always have a bottle of lemon juice to hand, carry one in your bag on days out as this will be a life saver and cut the phlem from the back of the throat which is what stops the foaming during heat stroke and helps them breath. Sq**rt it into the side of the mouth not straight down as you can end up with your dog aspirating.

Remember now the sun is coming be double weary of your squishy faces, lots of water bowls down, walk in the cool mornings or the cooler evenings if the heat is hot on you it's 10 x that on your dog, the path is burning your feet it's burning their feet.

-This post states ‘cool’ water not COLD water - cold water can put the dog into shock so make sure it’s cool water you are using.

-Yes lemon juice in high amounts can be toxic but a wee 30ml of it will probably not even give them an upset tummy, I would far rather risk that than watch my dog suffocate to death.

- A cool wet towel under the armpits can also help.

IT WILL NOT KILL YOUR DOG NOT HAVING A WALK, BUT YOU COULD KILL THEM BY WALKING THEM.
PLEASE KEEP THEM IN AND COOL.☺️

Out with Nova today, a white German Shepard.
She can be easily over stimulated so her owner requested a solo walk. We stayed local to her home today so as not to add to the stress of it being our first walk together.

I specialise in reactive dogs, and those dogs requiring an understanding of their behaviour outside a 'normal' pet dog behaviour.
All walks are GPS tracked and tailored to your dogs needs.
Message for more details.

Microchipping Amnesty!

In light of the recent reunion of Smudge and his owner, as well as the multitude of strays we have recently seen in practice, we have decided to do a special offer of £18 reduced from the usual £24! This will be for one month only and we hope to see you all soon ❤

Please note all dogs must be microchipped if over the age of 8 weeks.

It will soon become a legal responsibility to have your cats microchipped by 20 weeks of age.

Microchipping your pets is so important so that in the event they go missing they can be reunited with their owners 💖

We received some really distressing news earlier today about a beautiful dog called Reggie. This is a warning to all owners who’s dogs have been seized.

Reggies owner recently contacted a legal team for advice and assistance after her dog was seized back in October 2021 following an incident.

Reggies owner was not present at the time of the incident therefore she was not the person being investigated.

Reggies owner has been trying her best to get updates from the police for the past 6 months on her own, she left numerous messages and nobody has ever responded. From the conversation she last had with police she was under the impression that the matter would be proceeding to court.

Once the correct solicitors were contacted they made contact with police a few days ago, today however Reggies owner received the devastating news that Reggie had been put to sleep back in October 2021.

A disclaimer had been signed during the interview innocently by the person in charge of Reggie at the time of the incident. They were completely unaware that a disclaimer had even been signed.

Unfortunately this is not the first time this has happened. Back in December another client who made contact with us they also was made aware that her two dogs had been put to sleep as the person being investigated had also signed a disclaimer.

A disclaimer can only be signed by the owner of the dogs. In both cases the police were aware that the dogs did not belong to the person being investigated.

In addition to this in both cases the owners had called around different solicitors for help during the investigation stage of proceedings and were quoted prices that were excessive and out of their range. Therefore both clients continued to contact police themselves for answers before contacting ourselves or the solicitors.

If you have a dog which has been seized and you have not been getting any response from the police, DO NOT delay. CONTACT US as a matter of urgency and we will help you find out what is going on.

Alternatively you can visit our Facebook group Rockys Army Fighting BSL & DDA we will be more than willing to help you out during this time.

Early intervention really is key. We know some solicitors say to dog owners come back when you have been charged. Honestly don’t wait around get a second opinion. It is important to have legal representation on hand early on.

Both owners are in the process of making official complaints and we will be giving both the support they need.

Our hearts are broken for both families 💔

Alfie, a former resident at TenderCare Rescue and I walking the Tyne in Newcastle. Alfie was dog and people reactive, so initially we walked quiet areas. As we bonded and did some obedience work we started to venture to more popular spots.
