‼️🎃SPECIAL ADOPTION APPEAL🎃‼️

This beautiful chap is Pumpkin.

Pumpkin is a four month old, feral ginger boy who came into our care after he was found at a caravan park. He has had very limited human interaction and due to this, he’s a timid boy who does not know how to cope around people yet.

In his fantastic foster home/catio, he has become fully litter trained and is learning how to be a kitten again! 🥹

So far he has never shown any aggression, he is just very scared and confused around people. We feel he could thrive given time, love and patience with an experienced owner.

🏡Pumpkin will need an owner who has had past experience with feral kittens. He is neutered, vaccinated and chipped.

🧡If you think you could be the person Pumpkin needs and could welcome him into your home, please email [email protected] for more information or to request a Perfect Match application form.

🎉REHOMING WRAP UP…PART 2🎉

Meg the 1700th rehomed Cat Hub cat ❤️

Meg (or Panda, as she was briefly known as!) came to us in such a sorry state with fur loss and incredibly sore skin. This sweet girl had a mystery skin condition that no one quite understood or knew how to treat. What may be an untreatable cat to some, is a worthy challenge that all of us at the Cat Hub were more than willing to take on.

So, in October 2023, we welcomed Meg into Cat Hub foster care and got to work on finding out what was the cause of her unpleasant symptoms and how we could treat it. We always hoped that it would result in her having a better quality of life and ultimately find happiness in a forever home.

After many months working along side incredible vets and her loving foster carers, we found that her condition was something our vets had never seen before and we finally knew that it was something that Meg would live with for the rest of her life.

Thankfully, Meg’s condition is now well managed, her fur (and her sparkle ✨ ) has grown back and last week she was adopted by her new loving parents who love her just the way she is. ❤️

Meg, we hope you have the very best life, you truly deserve it. 🐾❤️

💘MEET…TIA and TOBY💘

Tia and Toby are a lovely duo who came into Cat Hub foster care after they were signed over by their previous owner.

Tia is an 11 month old female tabby who is affectionate, curious, playful, loves to chase toys, be brushed and sit on your lap!!

Toby is a 4 year old ginger male who is the shyer of the two. He is a pleasant chap who, once he gets to know you, will accept fusses and chin tickles. He loves his food and with the help of Tia, he is slowly learning how to play!! He will need to patience to come out of his shell in his new home.

🏡Both Tia and Toby could live with other friendly cats. They can rehomed separately or as a pair.

❤️If you think Tia and Toby are the lovely duo for you, and you live within one hour of Darlington, please email [email protected] to request a Perfect Match application form.

🌹ROSIE🌹

Although Rosie is having a wonderful time in her foster home, she really would like to find her forever home. ❤️

She is an approximately 1 year old little girl who came to us from living in poor conditions with four other cats.

She is a very sensitive little lady who requires an understanding home with an experienced owner. She can be nervous of most things, but is making slow and steady progress in Cat Hub foster care.

Thanks to a lot of patience and love, her foster mum tells us that Rosie is loving attention, ears rubs and will happily take treats! A girl after our own heart! 😻

🏡Rosie will need to live in an adult only home. 🐾

Lovely little ladies Zebra and Panther are beautiful, 18 week old sisters who are looking to find their forever family! ❤️🐾

They are confident little girls who love to explore together. 😼

Panther is the more cuddly of the two but Zebra still likes to come and sit on your lap.

They both love dinner time and Panther gets very happy when she sees the food packet coming out!!

We’ve also been told that when you click your tongue, they come running!! How cute is that?! 🥹🐾

🏡Zebra and Panther could live with other friendly cats and have been in foster care with a friendly dog, so they could make friends with cat friendly canines!

🎂HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US🎂

As we celebrate our 6th year at the RSPCA Cat Hub, I would just like to reflect on how far we have come. In 2018 I was tasked with leading a 12 month project with the objective of rehoming 120 cats. It was a daunting prospect, to lead something that had never been done before within the RSPCA.

We didn't really have a plan, nor any other similar project we could replicate. We based our rehoming procedure on RSPCA animal centres locally, and set to it.

What I didn't realise back then, was that we would quickly become the most successful rehoming hub there had ever been in the RSPCA........

This project has gone from strength to strength every year. My support network grows each year. My volunteers amaze me in their love for the cats we care for. They care about our cats as if they were their own. They foster them, transport them, homecheck for them, fundraise for them, and help promote them on social media. Together we have cried many times over poorly cats, then again cried, but happy tears, when they recover and go off to new homes. Their enthusiasm knows no bounds and humbles me everyday. They truly are angels and I appreciate every one of them.

Of course these cats wouldn't receive the help we give them if they weren't collected by my wonderful colleagues, of which their work often goes unnoticed. Sadly our amazing inspectors and collection officers often don't receive the admiration they deserve. In my eyes they are the true heroes. They know who they are, and each one of them has supported me in decision making and are there for advice, day or night. They really do go beyond what is expected of them.

A big thank you to our four local branches (Darlington, Stockton, Northallerton, Middlesbrough) who funded and continue to fund, the hub. That's right, if you didn't know already we are funded by local RSPCA branches who are run via public donations. We receive no government funding. Without their commitment none of this would have been possible.

Lastly, thank you to our three supporting vet practices who often go above and beyond what is expected of them Darlington Vet Clinic, Stanhope Park Veterinary Hospital and Jacqui Paterson's Vets. Almost everyday I turn up with extra cats, poorly cats, too many cats 🙈 and they still accept me no matter how busy they are 💙

As we move into year 7 of the hub, we do so sadly facing the busiest year to date for incoming cats. More cats than ever now need our help. It's a gigantic feat, but I know with my team by my side we will do as much as we can to improve animal welfare through neutering, vaccinating and rehoming. We will push to re-home as many cats as possible into new homes. If you can help us by donating please check out our just giving page on our website 🙏🏽

This week we waved goodbye to our 1700th cat 💙 Isn't that truly amazing!

Her story will be showcased soon, as she is one special cat.

Thank you to all of our supporters for sharing our posts, spreading the word, donating and supporting us with your kind words.

We are 🎉🐈‍⬛TEAM CAT HUB 🐈‍⬛🎉

🐾MEET MARJORAM AND ROSEMARY🐾

Marjoram and Rosemary are best friends who are looking for a forever home together. ❤️ This is what their fantastic foster mum said about these sweet young ladies…

“Marjoram is one of the luckiest and also unluckiest kittens in Cat Hub. Unfortunately she was in an accident on a dual carriageway but, despite being a black kitten, she was fortunate enough to be spotted at night by a kind motorist who sought help for her.

When she came to me she had facial injuries but also was cut and sore all over her body. Before she could recover she caught viral and bacterial infections, refused food and seemed to be slipping away. With vet care and after three days of four hourly syringe feeding she managed to lift her head up and went from strength to strength after that.

She's also made a new best friend in foster care. Rosemary was the smallest and fiercest of four feral kittens but has now officially retired from feral life and would very much like to have a life of purring quietly while someone strokes her. She has a sweet nature and the softest fur ever.

They're looking for a kind home together with people without small children and who don't mind that Marjoram will always have a slightly wonky smile. She eats, breathes and grooms herself normally.

P.S. They could live with friendly animals!”❤️🏡

Super stunner Suzie is an approximately 2-5 year old female cat who came into our care from a multicat household. She has been in Cat Hub foster care for quite a while now, receiving little to no interest 💔

She arrived in our care heavily pregnant and was an amazing mum, but now her kittens have flown the nest, it’s time for her to find her forever home and live the rest of her life kitten free!

She can be wary of humans but has slowly been building confidence in her foster home. 🥹 She will carefully take a tasty treat on offer 😻

Suzie is looking for an adult home with someone who has time and patience to help her flourish and must live with another cat friendly cat.

29/08/2024

Dory is a young adult female, who arrived in our care as a stray with her four kittens when they were less than 24 hours old. She was a lovely mum but now it is her time to be the centre of attention and be the kitten she was always meant to be.

Dory is a friendly lady who has the ability to settle in and find the comfiest spot wherever she lands. She loves human company and if you talk to her, she will happily answer you back!!

She is (look away Dory…) a little bit nosey and likes to keep an eye on what’s going on in her home. 😼 For this reason, she likes to perch herself on a windowsill and chatter about everything she sees!!!

She is playful, loves company, likes to be combed, fussed and will be the best friend to the lucky person that chooses her. ❤️

🏡Dory has had some successful meetings with a cat friendly dog and other cats so could live with other friendly animals. Although we haven’t tested her with children we don’t anticipate any problems. So living with children over 10 years could be possible.

🐾If you think Dory is the gorgeous girl for you , and you live within one hour of Darlington, please email [email protected] to request a Perfect Match application form.

Our Story...

The RSPCA Cat Rehoming Hub is a rescue and rehoming cattery based just outside Darlington in the North East of England.

We work with local RSPCA branches to rehome cats and kittens rescued by RSPCA officers across the Darlington, Stockton, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Sunderland, Northallerton and North Yorkshire areas. The cats we rehome have often faced cruelty or neglect, or been abandoned.

We have 20 pods in a local cattery which can accommodate up to 30 cats and kittens at any one time. We currently rehome more than 300 cats and kittens each year and we are planning to steadily increase that number. To do that costs us £75,000 each year.

You can help us in our mission to rescue and rehome neglected, abused and abandoned cats in our region by Volunteering, or Donating to us.
