Cry for Help: Emergency Rescue Appeal

Dear Friends,

Two weeks ago, we rescued a pregnant dog from an abandoned area, chained like a prisoner. She was starving, freezing, and had no hope left. In Lithuania, where snow blankets the ground, leaving her there was a death sentence.

Today, her fight for life took a dramatic turn. She went into labor but couldn’t deliver. Rushing her to the vet, we learned her situation was dire—a puppy was stuck, blocking her bladder and putting her life in grave danger.

An emergency C-section was her only chance. The surgery was filled with complications. Tragically, the stuck puppy didn’t survive, and her condition was critical. Her bladder was dangerously swollen, and she could have died without immediate care.

As the vet worked to save her, we fought to revive her newborns. For an hour, we gave everything we had, and finally, all four remaining puppies began to cry—tiny signs of life and hope. The mother is now recovering slowly, but the road ahead is long for her and her puppies.

This rescue and surgery have left us with a hefty vet bill, and we need your help. Your donations go directly to giving animals like this brave mom and her puppies a second chance at life.

Every euro counts. Please help us save more lives. They can’t do it without you.

🌈🌈
It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news that Ledute has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Despite every effort and the incredible generosity and support from all of you, she passed away.

Thank you to everyone who donated, prayed, and rooted for her recovery. While her time with us was far too short, she felt love and care in her final days, and that is thanks to you.

Rest easy, sweet Ledute. You were cherished.

Our little lady, Ledutė, has had a rough journey to get to where she is today. She was rescued from cruel and neglectful conditions, where starvation was a daily reality. When we brought her home, her frail body spoke volumes about her suffering—emaciated and weak, she desperately needed nourishment and care.

Adjusting to food has been difficult for Ledutė. She shows little interest in dry kibble or even canned food, often refusing to eat and leaving us worried. Her appetite seemed almost non-existent, as if her spirit had been worn down by months of deprivation. But we couldn’t give up on her.

I decided to try something different, and it worked wonders: raw ground chicken and pork, devoured in one eager gulp. Chicken hearts were another hit, and to make her meals even more appetizing, I added slices of high-quality “doctor’s” sausage. At last, I found what would make Ledutė eat with gusto. Yes, it’s an extra expense, but nothing is too much when it comes to restoring her health. She needs to regain weight and strength, and with each meal, she’s showing signs of improvement. She’s a good girl—sweet, obedient, and full of love.

Please don’t judge the video of her eating. She grabs her food as if she hasn’t eaten in a hundred years—and, sadly, there is some truth in that. We now control her portions and feed her more frequently to help her recover in a balanced way.

Greetings from Ledutė, who is safe and loved now, but there are many others who need help.

If you’d like to contribute to the rescue and care of Ledutė and other animals in need, we would be forever grateful. Ledutė is currently being fostered in my home as the VŠĮ “Šilutės Beglobiai” shelter is unable to accept more animals due to veterinary restrictions.
