Caring for your dog doesn't just mean walking and feeding him. It's also about interacting and keeping him stimulated via a variety of games.

Reggie loves to play 'hide and seek' whereby I hide some small treats and he uses his amazing sniffing abilities to find them. You can hide the treats in all sorts of places, including boxes, old Amazon packaging, on and around furniture, in his toy box and anywhere else you can think of!

Another game we play is 'tug' with his tug rope. He usually wins! But a game Reggie particularly loves is 'chase' the teddy. The teddy is in his mouth and I have to try and get it from him. It usually involves us both running around the garden, back and forth. He's so fast, it takes me a good while to catch him!

Playing games with a pet is not only fun, but also a great way to bond and build up trust. It's also a good way to keep fit.

Pets helped me through my cancer treatment. I was lucky enough to be surrounded by my friends cats after breast surgery a few months ago.

The cats most definitely picked up on my vulnerability and weakness after surgery. They'd want to sit next to me or snuggle up in my bed with me at night or during my afternoon nap.

'Baby', the kitten was never very far away. She always brought me great joy and made me giggle at her funny antics.

I always offer a free 'meet and greet' for any pets I'm thinking of looking after.

I met Jackson a couple of months ago and I've kept in contact with the owner between then and now.

I took Jackson for a walk on my meet and greet visit to encourage bonding and familiarity. This lays the foundation for a more successful pet sit.

It's all about reassurance for the owner and pet, as they're leaving their treasured pet and home in your care. That's a big commitment!

I always put myself into their shoes and treat them as I'd like to be treated.

'Baby' is a 4 month kitten that I was looking after recently. I noticed he wasn't walking around and so I got the owner's permission to take him to the vet. He had a fractured leg and spine!

I was advised to keep him in a crate for the remainder of the pet sit. I'm pleased to say that he's recovering well and is now walking around.

So happy for him and the owners. A happy ending!
