ALERT: Many places in Ayrshire have currently stopped accepting English £5 notes as payment due to several fakes currently in circulation, a fake £5 can be noticed due to the lack of the big Ben mark and by scraping the note its self with a coin, if the material comes off then it's a fake.

Where possible please try and avoid using or accepting English £5 notes as change until this issue is resolved.

UPDATE: We have been contacted and made aware that it's likely that most notes aren't actually fake and are actually just a simple miss prints However we will update with any further information.
