I love late summer mornings when we can walks the dogs and then take them for a swim. Earlier in the year the swans have cygnets so they are very protective. By August they are much more relaxed and happily queue up to watch the dogs swimming for a ball. There is an extra black lab in the video, she is a friends dog and is just staying for her annual holiday.

Interesting new research on using pesticides on your dogs. I rarely use these and have been shocked that vets recommend them to be used regularly. These alternatives seem a better option to me.

Over the years, many breeders, trainers, and owners have said that puppies should not be exercised until the growth plates are closed. I have been asked to radiograph 12-month-old dogs to make sure their growth plates are closed. Recently, a well-regarded colleague told me that he had an owner that....

Thank you everyone, he now has a very lovely home! This gorgeous boy is still looking for his forever home. He is a very affectionate lively little fellow and will need a home with plenty of exercise and / or something to keep his brain busy.

The puppies are developing at an alarming rate. One of the boys has even started reading!

Rosie has been such a brilliant Mum. The puppies are weaned and eating well, but they are still very keen for a quick "comfort" feed

Wrecker united! You can't expect Retrievers not to retrieve!

Current Litter:

A bit about me.

I have been involved with dogs all my life and started breeding Golden Retrievers about 25 years ago. I became a Kennel Club Assured Breeder near the start of the scheme but retired in 2019 due to an accident. I really missed having my puppies and have bred this litter to keep a bitch puppy. The pups are reared both in the house and also in a insulated walk in kennel and covered run. They go outside in the day time when the weather is calm, which gives them more room to explore and play and also to get them used to going to the toilet outside. Over the years I tried many ways to rear pups and I found this was the best option.

Mum: Rosie (Gorsgandrill Arabica)

She is a middle-sized pale gold bitch with a superb temperament and is very trainable. She is a combination of some of the older lines behind my Moonwater dogs on both the show and working sides. Her breeding is ¾ show, ¼ working breeding.

Before she came to me, she was involved in a car accident as a 9month old puppy and her lower left leg is pinned. My vet has said this is why her right hip score is slightly higher as she would have had to bear all her weight on this hip while she recovered.

Hip score: 11:5
Elbow Score 0:0
Clear Eye Certificate
Gonioscopy Grade 0

Both her parents were DNA tested and were clear for all the DNA tests

Distrophic epidermolysis bullosa
Ectodermal dysplacia
Golden Retriever Progressive Retinal Atrophy PRA1
Progressive Retinal Atrophy (GR-PRA2)
Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA-PRCD)
Ichthyosis (Golden Retriever)
Muscular Dystrophy
Neurol Ceriod Lipofuscinosis 5
Osteogenesis Imperfecta
Sensory Ataxic Neuropathy

Dad: Bow (Brinsworthy Denman of Jalk )

He is a dark golden working dog with a fabulous temperament, who I have admired for a long time. My daughter used him a few years ago and had a superb litter by him. His health tests are excellent, and he has been used extensively at stud because of this.

Hip score: 3:3
Elbow score 0:0
Clear Eye Certificate (2018). Many working dog owners don’t update their eye certificates if the dogs are DNA tested to show they can’t develop eye diseases as when the dogs are working their use their sight to “mark” where the birds have fallen.

He is also clear for all the DNA tests and has been extensively tested for other genetic abnormalities too.

Distrophic epidermolysis bullosa
Ectodermal dysplacia
Golden Retriever Progressive Retinal Atrophy PRA1
Progressive Retinal Atrophy (GR-PRA2)
Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA-PRCD)
Ichthyosis (Golden Retriever)
Muscular Dystrophy
Neurol Ceriod Lipofuscinosis 5
Osteogenesis Imperfecta
Sensory Ataxic Neuropathy
Congenital Myasthenic Syndrome
Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis
Malignant Hyperthermia
Hyperruricosuria
Degenerative Myelopathy
Brittle Bone Disease
Ichthyosis Type 2

This means that the puppies can’t develop any of the above diseases

The inbreeding co-efficient for this litter is very low at 3% The breed average is 7.9%

I only have male pups available. They will be ready to go to their new homes around 16th – 18th March.

The price is £2,500

The puppies are 4 weeks now and at this age it is really important that they experience different environments and start going outside to go to the toilet. So far they have experienced 6 different floor surfaces and today is their first day into the covered run.
