I had a great time looking after these two recently, we are building up a bond before a sitting we have coming up.
As you can see, the photos I got were not the best as they were very wriggly ☺️🤣

‼️ Important update from Curious Creatures ‼️

Firstly, I’ve switched to a new online booking system to make things easier for you and myself. My regular clients will receive an email with the link so look out for that and all other clients will receive a link once you’ve filled out your client forms and we have had an introductory meet.

After careful consideration, I’ve made the difficult decision to temporarily stop offering longer overnight sittings. This wasn’t an easy choice, but it allows me to better balance my schedule and continue providing the best possible care for your pets. I want to ensure I can give each pet the attention they deserve and manage my time effectively. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Going forward, I will only be offering sittings of up to 24 hours, but of course, any pre-booked long sittings will still go ahead, and I very much look forward to them!

Thank you for your understanding, and I appreciate your continued trust in my services. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here to help!

The Dog Witch: Whole Health for Healthy Behaviour is building an awesome community, check it out ⬇️

I feel so passionate about creating a safe space for us to chat about the wonderful species that is canis familiaris. Sadly there don't appear to be many. Everyone is out to judge, feel threatened by others or put others down. The Dog Witch membership is all about non-judgmental, safe, friendly and an equal community who wish to keep learning and understanding dogs and supporting their own.

These sage gatherings are not about experts talking down to the crowd. This is exactly what learning should be. Collaboration. No egos allowed. Just people getting together with some of the most knowledgeable professionals in their field to chat to us about what they are passionate about.

Dont Miss out on this amazing gatherings. Plus all my webinars for free and our own personal gatherings each month to discuss whole health and well being for our dogs and for ourselves! Because we matter too! You also get access to an ever expanding library of behaviour and nutrition resources.

Become a part of something special.

❤️ 💗

Mindfulness with our pets - my first video!

I’ve been working on something a little different, and I’m excited (and a bit nervous!) to share it with you.

I’ve put together a short video about mindfulness with pets, how it can help us, how it helps them, and a few simple ways to bring it into everyday life. Whether you have a dog, cat or any other pet, mindfulness can help strengthen your bond and bring a sense of calm into your life.

This is something I personally try to practise, and I’ve found it really helps me feel more present and connected with the animals I share my life with, as well as work with.

It’s only about 10 minutes long, so if you fancy giving it a watch, I’d love to hear what you think!
I have also included a document with some further reading if you are interested which you can find in the comments.

Have you ever tried mindfulness with your pet? Let me know in the comments.

There are headlines circulating at the moment about the Cane Corso. This is following somebody that was on Love Island a handful of years ago being prosecuted for his dog biting a member of the public.

There seemed to be a trend a few years ago where a lot of celebrities or influencers were getting "protection dogs" imported from overseas. I believe this was the case with this dog and this should be the first red flag that this dog was most likely bred to NOT be a fan of strangers. This is the first red flag here and this is why education about dog behaviour is so important...

Ultimately since the XL Bully ban, sources are reporting an increased interest in another large muscular breed that is not banned - the Cane Corso. Breed specific legislation does not work. It just results in dogs that haven't done anything being put to sleep because of the way that they look. What is the government going to do, ban every large muscular breed? Then ban every large dog? Where does it end?

So what's the alternative to BSL?
🐾 Mandatory dog licensing for dog guardians
🐾 Regulation of the dog behaviour and training industry so that dog trainers and behaviourists give out appropriate advice that won't result in behavioural fallout (relevant up up date qualifications required by dog professionals)
🐾 A level of mandatory behaviour information. I'm not talking about sit, down, stay drills...understanding your own dog's genetics, trigger stacking, and body language, plus information on dog law.
🐾 Regulation around the importation of dogs from overseas, so cases such as this one (protection dogs being shipped and sold to somebody who probably didn't need a protection dog, or understand dogs at all) don't happen. This is not an isolated case.
🐾 Vets and other dog care professionals to refer to behaviourists for behaviour advice unless they are also qualified in behaviour

Edit: thanks to those who have sent me a photo of Cane Corsos with uncropped, nice floppy ears. You'd be surprised how many stock image websites have so many cropped Cane Corsos, and as I do my admin around caring for my 15 month old, I don't have very long to search (especially when I wanted to get a post out today given the headlines I'm seeing today). Cropping and docking is illegal in this country unless for medical purposes (with some exemptions for working dogs). Cane Corsos should have long tails and floppy ears, not cur short or upright.

I just wanted to share a bit about how I run my dog walking/pet sitting business.
I only offer solo walks because I feel it’s the best option for the dogs I work with, whether they need some extra attention, space from other dogs, or just a peaceful walk tailored to them.

Group walks can be successful but need to be properly managed, and there’s some great walkers out there who offer this, however it’s just not my thing. I will however walk up to 3 dogs from the same household or occasionally I may bring my own dog along to a walk, but only If I feel as though this would benefit the dogs.

I also keep my schedule small and manageable for various reasons, including that I don’t drive, and I want to make sure I can give every dog my full focus.
Alongside my pet care , I’m also studying and working in the shop The Dogs Butcher so balancing everything carefully is important to me.

I’ve also chosen not to run my business in a traditional way that’s purely profit driven. While it means I might not make loads of money, my focus has always been on the animals and providing the best care possible for them and their owners.

It’s not about being less busy, I’ve chosen this approach because it works best for me and the dogs in my care.

Thank you for understanding and supporting my little business!
If you’d like to know more about my services, feel free to get in touch 😊
