Hi, my lovelies,

Firstly, I want to apologise for any inconvenience you may have experienced lately. At Short Bark & Sides, customer satisfaction is something we take very seriously.

As you are already aware, I'm on maternity leave, and Libby has been really poorly with pneumonia. Libby is still not feeling 100% and has further lung function tests in March as the specialist feels there may be long-term damage to her lungs, which we are praying isn't the case.

We as a company are trying our very best to get your babies booked in, but as you can imagine, it is proving to be difficult due to Libby being so up and down with her health.

I have deep cleaned and painted the salon so that Libby has the best working environment possible, and am slowly working through the list trying to schedule appointments, which again is proving difficult as both my babies are poorly at the moment, so I have very little spare time on my hands and Libby has really cut down her work load - by orders of the boss 🤣.

I have spoken to my amazing dog grooming friends in Deal and the surrounding areas, and they are more than happy to get you booked in.

I just wanted to let you all know that I am really sorry that my replies to messages haven't been great and that I am really trying my best under the circumstances.

Good morning my lovelies,

Just a little post to let you all know that Libby is on the mend but still needs to take it easy.
As a result of this, Libby will be returning back to work but will only be grooming 1 dog a day to begin with and see how she gets on.
We are looking to reopen on the 6th February xx
Let us know if you need me to book you in 😁

I am ever so sorry, but we will have to cancel your appointments as the salon will be closed until further notice.
Unfortunately, Libby is really ill with suspected pneumonia.
I am so sorry for any inconvenience caused.
If you could find alternative arrangements for now and I will let you know as soon as we are back up and running ###

As some of you are aware, Libby has been very poorly, so we have had to cancel last week's appointments and this week's.
Unfortunately, it has left her with a severe chest infection and she is finding it very difficult to breathe.
Libby has been advised against working in the salon due to the dog hair and dander until she is 100% better and gets the all clear from the doctors.
I'm afraid I have no childcare, so I can not jump in and take over 😟

For those of you we've had to cancel, we are so sorry for any inconvenience caused.
You may need to go elsewhere for now if your dog is in desperate need ###

We are so proud to announce the safe arrival of our beautiful baby girl
Hannah Marie Cheesman, born today at 11.45am weighing 7lb3oz.
She is absolutely perfect, we are soooo in love with her 💕

I'm sorry I'm having to post this but I am sick of people taking advantage of our good nature!!!!!

We don't only do this job because we love it but we are trying to earn a living, so when you don't bother to turn up we loose out on money!!!!

We are not a dog sitting service!!!!! You wouldn't leave your children at school for hours after they had finished so why would it be any different for your dog at the groomers!!!!

If you turned up 30 to 40 minutes late for your hairdresser's appointment would they still see you? Or would you of cocked up their whole working day?????
You'd probably be asked to pay for your missed appointment before you can rebook!!!!!!

So from now on
💥Late fees for drop off and pick up will be added to your bill.
💥You will be charged for not turning up before any future appointments go ahead.

I don't usually rant but I am so sick of it.
I am trying to run a business not a charity!!!!!!!!!
If you find me unreasonable please feel free to find another groomer.

I will be going on maternity leave in September and the lovely Libby will be taking over until I return.
I will be taking 9 months to a year off this time so would like to help Libby out as much as possible before I go.

Hi Everyone,

We hope you are all well.
We will be opening back up on the 6th April 🎉🎉
I will contact you all with your first appointment ASAP.

My maternity leave has now finished so I will be back too but only part time. Libby and I will both be working part time to cover opening 5 days a week (Monday to Friday).

After this whole lockdown situation and not seeing my family since October it has made me realise how important family time is, so we will not be opening on Saturday's anymore.

I will be in touch with appointments this week 😘

Hi my lovelies,

Finally an update!!!!!

According to PIF and CFSG, dog groomers are to follow the same rules as non essential businesses 🙄
So hopefully we will be reopening on April 12th 🤞
Welfare groom's are still allowed to go ahead in the meantime.
I will be making appointments from the 12th April in the order in which I had to cancel them and contact you directly xx

Hi everyone,

We hope you are all well

We've had lots of enquiries as to whether we are open and unfortunately the answer is no 🥺

We are only allowed to open for welfare cases which are .......
💥 matted coats
💥 vet referrals
💥 skin conditions that require prescribed shampoo and regular bathing.
💥 claws that are growing into pads or are long enough to make the foot distorted.

I understand that some groomers are open and that is up to them but we are sticking to the rules.

However if you feel your dog is suffering please get in touch and we can assess whether we are able to help.

Hopefully after Boris' announcement later we will have an idea of when we can open up again 🤞

To keep your babies comfortable during lockdown you will need a decent shampoo (we use paw-natural) a slicker brush and a metal comb. Make sure you clean around your dog's eye's daily with eye wipes or cotton pads and luke warm water. Also make sure your fur babies toochies are clean by regularly using wet wipes or cotton wool and warm water.

Hi everyone,
Im afraid we are still closed and will be for the foreseeable future 😔
The Pet Industry Federation have updated their guidelines and we are only allowed to groom severely matted dogs or dogs that have been referred to us by a vet.

I have come across these pictures which I think will help to keep your fur babies knotts to a minimum until we can open again xx
