Baby boot camp has started for Arlow now that the weather has been a bit better

As he’s rising 3 it’s time for him to start learning the finer aspects of the job and get back into a bit of a routine

He’s been exposed to most groundwork activities and had the basics taught with exercise such as leading, trotting up, lunging, going for walks and long reining. Now will begin the refining of those activities and building his confidence by doing more solo adventures away from the others, before I turn him away again for a little bit longer.

Allowing his young body and mind plenty of time to mature as well as allowing him time to process what he’s learnt and go back to just being a young horse for a while.

He’s incredibly playful and although he works well, his attention span is limited to short sessions still so that is import to take into consideration when planning what his training sessions will look like and what they’ll involve and adjust the plans depending on how he progresses with his training.

The aim for him is to eventually have him as a ride and drive pony, for myself to drive and for young aspiring riders to learn the basics. 🥰

Since having moved Neats he’s finally been able to live in a little bachelor band.

He’s never had company of more than one other horse in the past so being able to have him live more naturally in the company of other boys has been fantastic. Watching him grow into a brilliant leader has been a pleasure these last couple of months.

He keeps the other two in check without being too overbearing, for example; if Arlow is getting too much when trying to play with Inky and Inky is making it quite clear that he doesn’t want to join in, Neats will step in and send Arlow away from Inky until he’s settled down again.

I’m very glad and fortunate to be able to have him live as naturally as possible, not all stallions are as lucky as him.

Hiya everyone! After a very long, long hiatus, I am excited to be rebranding and restarting my equestrian career as ART Equestrian (Equine).
Only part time currently as I will be focusing on my own horses and their careers and teaching holistic, positive reinforcement based horsemanship, from my idealistic, peaceful forest setting.
But these things start small!

It’s been a while! I should probably start using Instagram again for more than looking at pretty ponies 😂

I’ve ended 2023 with a Filly returning and a new unexpected addition to the herd, Inky! New field, new projects and a whole load of mischief!

Lots of work needs to be done at the new place before I can bring Neats and Arlow here but I’m excited for the future!
