Solomon went to his first competition today.. he worked in well and relaxed with all the horse boxes and other horses around too.. settled really quickly and stood patiently when it wasnt his turn.
He took 3rd place in his intro for 64.5% :-)
Took my sister's little welsh D out to his first venue hire today.
He's only popped a little cross before today, but he impressed me with his springy little jump, and he relaxed quickly at a new place and took it all in his stride.. good boy Sol.
Clover out and about at his first venue hire today!
Im sooo so proud of where he's got to now.. to say he was difficult to break would be an understatement... but i feel so safe and have such fun on him now.. even if he does chuck in an excited bronk, its not gonna put him into a panic and we carry on 🥰😊
3. 2. 1. Away we go!
Rose's first Hunter trials giving me the eventing bug again.. 🤪☺️
She stormed around the 90cm at Kelsall Hill Equestrian Centre for just a few seconds over the time.. not bad for a Native that i wouldn't quite call eventing fit! 🤔
We had already gone around the 70s pairs with Marcus too so can't be more pleased than 2 clears and giving us the MOST FUN!!!! 🥰
When i first brought this gorgeous boy into work he was very almost unleadable... i never felt like he was being nasty but he would put his head down and tow me like i was the lightest cart .. i would have to find a fence post or the like to hold onto at each point i could to steady him... we did lots in our menage so i could dig my heals in and keep hold of him... i had the most huge blister on my foot the first time i took him on the road because it was as though i just was not there.. he wasn't bolting or panicked at all but he just kept on going as though noone was there holding onto him!
Fast forward to now, this 4 year old is the kindest, sweetest boy and i felt no worry in letting my 6 year old Halle lead him to the field. 🥰
Huwie and Clover out on a sunny mountain ride this morning 🌄 on a very overgrown bridlepath (not half seeing the worst of it here!) 😆
2 good boys quite happy with their riders leaning down their neck down a steep rocky path 😊
The blind leading the blind today 🙈
Sol & Neish ahead to start who has been backed now a couple of months so the expert of the pack 😜, me on Huwie having our 5th ride and first canter and 5 year old Halle on her pony who has been backed for 3 weeks 😀
All impeccably behaved, and we had a great ride even in the rain 🥰
I'm excited about Huwie!!
Come for a hack with Pedro and me 🥰
Hopefully the first of many sunny days spent on horseback! 🤞
Pedro's first BSPS show and he took it all in his stride... super easy to do all day long.
He behaved like he'd done it all before.. worked in lovely, need to get him more compact throughout the course (it will come) Waited on the box on his own until everyone had finished, tied up happily outside munching away.
👌🥰
Getting the horses done on a cold, wet, windy day.... with a toddler! 🙈🤗
Still munching away while I was putting her bedtime layers on 🐽🐷
🤪
Pedro's first jumping comp was arena eventing at Kelsall Hill Equestrian Centre....
I've been so inconsistent riding over the last couple of months with bad weather & family time over Christmas, so we just thought we'd go for it to kick start again!
Peds was so genuine and easy to do the whole day... chilling while he had to wait, warming up nicely with lots of others around, it was a green round which is to be expected at this stage and clumsy over some jumps that he wasn't coming confidently to.. but his honesty shows, and I was so pleased with him! 🤗
So awesome now my son can help me and the youngsters with a confidence giving lead... we hired the arena eventing course at Kelsall Hill Equestrian Centre today, and Peds was super sweet 🥰
He's still figuring out what I'm asking him to do with his feet but you can see the progress he made in this hour and is starting to make more of a shape and pick his feet up.. he's improving each time out and gaining experience of new venues with decorations and environments!
Great lesson with Rose tonight at Northop!
Working on the confidence and stamina she needs to stretch for those longer distances... but also stopping me from putting her on my favourite long stride all the time 🙈
I feel Peds would be more suited to a ridden showing/ dressage home.. but in the mean time, he's going to have to start popping a couple of jumps to keep it fun and varied 😊
Actually got him to pick his feet up today instead of skipping or stepping over 👍
Pedro is coming along so sweetly.. he's so laid back but responsive with a great step :-) transitions arr getting there too... my stirrups were far too long and totally dropped my reins across the diagonal 🙈 but shows what a good boy he's become 😊
Pedro's first time in a new venue.. loaded, travelled and behaved impeccably from start to finish!! 🤗
Marcus had the winter league SJ in the morning hence we were already travelling to Kelsall anyway 🤗 we also got Lloyd to join us on Rose for the farm ride.. lovely afternoon and we didn't even get wet! 🥰👌
I'm so happy to be at this point with Pedro 🤗
I started him as a 4 year old, and it was clear that he needed time to mature physically and mentally... FINALLY (after pregnancy and having a young baby) 2 years later, we are up and going.
He clearly has loads more confidence in me, as I do in him!
We've been hacking out for a little while now, and it's done him the world of good!!
He is relaxed, thinking forward and learning quickly... we will keep mainly hacking for a while but start to get in the school a little more often from this point :-)
