💙 Forever Home Friday – Gregg 💙

Today’s Forever Home Friday is all about the wonderful Gregg and just how far this special boy has come 🐾

When Gregg arrived, he was seriously malnourished and unwell as seen in the last photo😢. Fast forward to now, and he is absolutely thriving. Gregg does have a diagnosis of mega oesophagus, but he is doing amazingly well, so much so that you’d honestly never know. He’s happy, playful, and living his very best life with his forever family🏡

Here’s what Gregg’s new parents had to say:
“When Becci asked us if we’d like to home Gregg it was an easy yes! He is just so loving, playful and adorable and has just slotted into our lives like he has always been here. We thought taking on a dog with a medical issue may be hard work or require a lot of attention, which we were happy to do. But he has been a superstar from day one — to be honest you wouldn’t even really know he was any different! Stealing everyone’s hearts who comes over and recently all the gang’s toys! He has got so playful! We cannot thank Becci and her team enough for bringing this little joy into our lives! ###”

Stories like Gregg’s are exactly why we do what we do 🥹 From a poorly, underweight boy to a loved and cherished family member, Gregg has truly found his forever home and our hearts couldn’t be fuller🐶

Happy Forever Home Friday, Gregg ✨

Mid-Week Rescue Update🐶🐾

What a week it has been… and it’s only mid-week! In just over one week we’ve taken in SIX new intakes, which is a new record for us! This week alone we welcomed Hugo, Teddy and four new Frenchie puppies who will be introduced to you all very soon. It’s been busy, emotional, exhausting but also incredibly rewarding.

Some wonderful progress updates:

Hugo is getting stronger and brighter every single day
Teddy is slowly learning that he can trust us
Polar is eating well and continuing to do really well
Sushi had a full vet check, blood tests and a medication review — and he’s doing amazing, as always!

Of course, all of this means more vet visits and more vet bills, but we honestly can’t thank you enough for the incredible fundraising over the last week. The support we’ve received has been overwhelming and we’re so grateful, it truly makes everything we do possible.

We’re also thrilled to share that Chester (now Chopper) has been adopted by one of our wonderful fosters Lauren, the very best kind of happy ending🥹

A huge thank you to everyone who donated to Hugo & Teddy’s fundraiser. Your generosity makes such a massive difference and helps us give them the care they so desperately need🏥

We also need to say a massive thank you to our transport team, every single person has offered their time, fuel and energy without charging us a penny. With the number of dogs we’ve taken in recently, this kindness has been absolutely incredible and we truly couldn’t do this without you 🚙

Looking ahead, we’re already making plans for 2026: Pilates, walks, maybe some tv appearances 🤫, fundraising events and more exciting ways to support the rescue.

We still have calendars available and need to sell the remaining stock before January. Every penny raised goes straight back into helping the dogs in our care. And finally... this is the last push for Christmas shoeboxes 🎄
Please don’t worry if they arrive late, the dogs are always grateful for toys and treats, whenever they come.

If you've got this far, thanks for reading I know it's a long one but so much has happened we can't believe it's only Wednesday! Thank you, as always, for standing by us and supporting the rescue. Your kindness keeps us going🙏🏻

Vet update for two very special pups 🩺🐾

Today we headed to the vets with our boy Sushi and our newest little arrival, Oreo 🤍🖤

Oreo came into rescue just two nights ago after being noticed with a very severe head tilt and an inability to walk. She rolls in circles and, compared to her littermates who are all walking confidently with no head tilt at all, her symptoms are extremely pronounced.

The vets have given her a really thorough check over today and at this stage feel it could be neurological or possibly trauma related – perhaps mum accidentally lay on or stepped on her. Oreo is only 17 days old, so for now it’s very much a case of monitoring her closely and seeing how she progresses as she grows. Once she’s a little older, we’ll reassess and take the next steps from there. Please keep this tiny girl in your thoughts 🤞🏼🤍

Sushi was in for another one of his regular 4-weekly medication reviews. This time he also had blood tests taken to ensure his medication isn’t affecting his liver or kidneys. The vets are really happy with how he’s doing, he’s staying on the same dosage, and best of all… he remains seizure free 🎉

Sushi’s blood test results should be back within the next few days, and we’ll be sure to update everyone as soon as we have them.

He’s also officially a little celebrity now – once the nurses realised Sushi was in the building, they all came out to see him… and of course he loved every single second of the attention 😆🖤

All in all, a positive day at the vets. Thank you as always for supporting these precious pups and following their journeys with us 💫🐾

✨ A Teddy Update – Good News & Not-So-Good News ✨

We wanted to share a little update on Teddy after his recent vet visit.

The not-so-good news first 💔
Teddy went in for surgery on 12/12/25 so the eye specialist could properly investigate what was going on with his eyes. Initially, we were very concerned that one eye may have already ruptured, as it wasn’t visible at all before due to severe swelling and infection. Teddy was incredibly calm and allowed us to examine him, bless him, but it just wasn’t possible to see what was happening without further investigation.

Once Teddy was under anaesthetic, the eye specialist carried out further examinations and took imaging of his skull. It turns out Teddy’s eyes sit extremely far back in his head. Because of how close they are to his brain, any surgical intervention would be very high risk. Due to the complexity of his case, the specialist has sent all images and videos taken during surgery to a more senior colleague for further opinion.

So for now, investigations are still ongoing. We don’t yet know which route we’ll need to take — whether that’s surgery, an MRI, or another option entirely — but we will of course keep everyone updated as soon as we know more.

Now for the good news 🤍
Teddy has made amazing emotional progress. He has gained so much trust in Jade and her family and has even started venturing out of his crate. We’ve seen little waggy tails and a puppy who is slowly beginning to realise that he is safe, loved, and surrounded by people who only want the very best for him.

Anyone who knows Shar Peis will understand just how special this is — they can be quite reserved and standoffish, so for Teddy to open up the way he has is truly incredible.

Right now, Teddy is comfortable, he’s happy, and he feels secure — and that’s what matters most at this moment 🐾

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far towards Teddy’s care and continues to support him on his journey. Your kindness means the world to us and to this very special boy

Adoption Post – Pumpkin🎃🐾

Pumpkin is a 4-month-old Cockapoo who will be looking for his forever home in the New Year, as we do not rehome animals over the Christmas period 🎅🏼

A little about Pumpkin: Pumpkin has been assessed by a specialist cardiologist and has a small congenital heart condition known as a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) along with a mildly leaky valve. This is a common condition and the cardiologist has confirmed that it is not expected to cause him any problems in the future. No treatment is required, there are no restrictions to his diet or exercise, and he is expected to live a completely normal life! There is also a possibility that the VSD may close on its own as he grows.
However, Pumpkin will require a routine follow-up appointment with a cardiologist in six months, and his future family will need to be prepared to travel to Cambridgeshire for this appointment. As this is a pre-existing condition, his heart will not be covered by insurance ❤️‍🩹

The fun parts from his foster mum:
Pumpkin is house trained, travels very well in the car, and loves his walks! He gets on well with children, other dogs, and everyonr he meets. He is affectionate, enjoys company, is food-motivated, and has plenty of energy but he's a typical cockapoo and loves a cuddle and attention.

We anticipate a high level of interest for Pumpkin but please carefully consider before applying, we want to ensure his adoptees are applying for the right reasons not just because of how gorgeous he is, it is important you ensure there are no upcoming holidays or potential changes in circumstances that could affect your application.

✨ Glow-ups that mean the world to us ✨

Meet Minnie and Chester – two very different starts, two very different challenges, but one shared outcome… thriving against the odds 💪🐾

🐶 Minnie arrived with us at just 8 days old. She was tiny, weak, and clearly not thriving like her siblings. One eye was very badly swollen and full of infection. As time went on, we discovered Minnie has a very small cleft palate, right at the back of her throat.
Fast forward to now and this little girl is absolutely flourishing 🌸
Unfortunately, it’s since come to light that Minnie has dermoid cysts in both eyes and she will need surgery to correct them – but aside from that, she is happy, strong, full of personality and completely unaware of just how special she is ✨

🐶 Chester arrived in rescue at just hours old. Born with a cleft palate and cleft lip, he was unable to nurse safely from mum. Sadly, there’s still a huge misconception that if a cleft puppy looks like they’re latching, it’s okay – it isn’t. A cleft palate acts like a funnel straight to the lungs, and aspiration in a newborn puppy is incredibly difficult to treat.
Chester was hand-reared from the very start by our incredible foster Joanne, who did an exceptional job with him 🍼🤍
He came back to MCR headquarters at around four weeks old and never looked back. He continued to thrive, grow, and show us just how resilient these babies can be. Chester has now gone on to his forever home in Glasgow, where he is absolutely adored 🏡💙

These are just two more babies who have defied the odds, when so often puppies like this are told they “need to be put to sleep at birth.”
We will never stop believing that every puppy deserves a chance – and Minnie and Chester are living proof of that 🌈🐾

💛✨

Morning everyone 🌅

Just popping on to do a Forever Home Friday post and let you know we only 16 calendars left!

If they all sell, that’s £320 towards Hugo, Minnie and Teddy’s vet bills. Each calendar features over 100 dogs rehomed through our rescue, with beautiful photos from their families and photographers who continue to support us- pop us over a message if you'd like to order one🐾

This week we’re celebrating Edna, a little girl who stole the hearts of our entire team and everyone who met her. Her new owner shared these lovely words:

“From the moment Edna arrived with us as a foster, it quickly became clear that she was already home.
She is the most adorable, friendly little girl you could ever wish to have by your side. When she first came to us, she struggled with her breathing, but thanks to the incredible support from Midland Cleft Rescue and an amazing team of vets and nurses, she got the treatment she needed and is now thriving.
Edna is pure joy, funny, affectionate, and happiest when she’s chewing on her favourite hoof or sitting on someone’s lap. She’s super friendly with everyone she meets, humans and dogs alike, and her gentle, well-behaved nature melts hearts wherever she goes.
We feel incredibly lucky to have her in our lives.”
Edna’s story is a wonderful reminder of the difference rescue makes and the happiness these dogs bring into the world.

Thank you for continuing to support our rescue and helping create more happy endings like Edna’s🐶🐾

Thank you SO SO much for everyone who purchased from Hugo’s wish list last night🥹🤍

Little update, he is struggling with eating today bless him, so assisted feeding has been needed every 2 hours today to try and keep his strength up!

We’ve been closely speaking to the vets too and they are on stand by if he needs them! He is taking the food for now but just with lots of assistance! 😢🤍

Below is his wish list, we’ve added on a few different foods, including smaller puppy food, moose and feeding tubes too! These are going to be vital for him if needed and he carries on struggling to eat, so if anyone can help we will be forever grateful🤍

💛 HUGO – HOME BUT STILL VERY POORLY 💛

We wanted to share today’s update with all of you who have been sending so much love Hugo’s way.

Last night, after four long, emotional days, Hugo was finally able to come home. This is a small but incredibly meaningful step in the right direction, one we have been desperately waiting for. We feel unbelievably lucky to have him back with us, and we are profoundly grateful to the vets who fought so hard to keep him alive. Without their dedication, we genuinely don’t believe Hugo would still be here.

That said, Hugo is not out of the woods by any means. He is still extremely poorly and has an incredibly long recovery ahead of him. He is receiving constant 1-to-1 care, as he is still refusing most food and needs help with drinking. He is very wobbly on his legs and is nothing but skin and bone right now. His little body is so weak that even walking is difficult for him.

For now, our focus is on keeping him stable, hydrated, warm, and supported every moment of the day. It will take time, care, and a lot of patience for him to rebuild his strength. Please keep Hugo in your thoughts, he truly needs all the love and positivity he can get.

We are so grateful for the kindness, generosity, and encouragement you’ve all shown him so far. If you would like to continue supporting Hugo during this long recovery journey, we have added his Amazon wishlist below. These are the essential items we’ll be using to care for him every day.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for helping give Hugo the chance he deserves. 💛🐾
