It can be fatal to your pup, so be sure to take preventative measures such as:
- Avoid extra muddy walking routes
- Wash and dry your dogs paws thoroughly

Be care of the signs and symptoms:
- Lethargy, vomiting and lack of appetite
- Sores or ulcers on the skin, especially the legs and paws
- A change in drinking and urinary habits

**How Dangerous Are Acorns?**
The tannins in acorns have a bitter taste, but some dogs might still eat them. Even small amounts can cause stomach issues, while larger amounts may lead to more severe health problems.
**How Many Acorns Are Too Many?**
Tannin levels vary with each acorn, especially between unripe green (higher tannins) and mature brown acorns. The risk also depends on your dog’s size and health.
**Symptoms to Watch For:**
- Vomiting or diarrhea (may contain blood)
- Fatigue or shaking
- Red, itchy skin
- Changes in drinking, urination, or walking
- Yellowing of skin, gums, or eyes
