Helping Hands Veterinary Physiotherapy

Helping Hands Veterinary Physiotherapy Passionate about providing a friendly, professional physio & rehabilitation service to Horses, Dogs, Cats, small furries, goats & other animals by request

After graduating with a first class honours degree in Equine Science (BSc Hons) Helen was delighted to be able to follow her dream of working with animals after gaining her post graduate diploma in Veterinary Physiotherapy (PgDip Vet Physio) at Harper Adams University. Veterinary Physiotherapy is a scientifically evidence based animal health care profession. Working alongside veterinary surgeons t

o provide the optimum care for all animals. Helen is a fully qualified and insured veterinary physiotherapist based on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire border. Her practice covers Cheshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Staffordshire. Helen is a member of the prestigious National Association of Veterinary Physiotherapists (NAVP) approved by vets and pet insurance companies and the Institute of Registered Veterinary and Animal Physiotherapists (IRVAP). Helen utililizes a combination of physiotherapy techniques including manual therapies - from light touch massage, stretching, myofascial release, trigger point and deep tissue therapies - electrotherapy, thermotherapy and remedial exercise programmes all individually tailored to each animal. Physiotherapy techniques and exercise therapies are utilized not only for treatment of conditions and injuries, but to maintain health and performance, and improve well-being. Helen’s passion for animals has been reflected in the variety of much loved pets that she has had the pleasure to share her life over the years, ranging from guinea pigs, hamsters and rabbits to dogs, cats and horses. She was always the one to bring the animals home from school in the summer holidays which, much to her mums surprise (but not delight!) included rats, mice, rabbits, stick insects and the occasional stray cat. Helen now shares her home with two horses - Patchie Girl and Miss Loulou, a mad and very playful Goldendoodle - Dougal. Helen’s professional and practical experience along with her academic qualifications and compassion for all animals, combine to provide the client and animal patient with a sympathetic, professional and effective quality treatment. Helen continues to undertake professional development to ensure knowledge and techniques are up to date, aiming to provide the best possible care.

🎉 Fantastic news for one of our members as DEFRA recognises the RAMP-Register of Animal Musculoskeletal Practitioners as an Industry Regulatory Body!

📋 Until now there has been little regulation of musculoskeletal practitioners (Physiotherapists, Osteopaths & Chiropractors) within the Veterinary industry. RAMP has been running a voluntary register for several years for practitioners who meet a minimum of training and maintenance of standards.

👏 This is a great step forward to ensure the regulation of practice and welfare of our animals.
