Sheep Worrying
Vet Vikki discusses Sheep Worrying whilst out on a walk with her dog Tonto:
As the weather improves, sheep and lambs, as well as cattle with calves, ate being turned out to pasture. Every year we deal with sheep attacks and the effects of sheep and cattle worrying from dogs not under control. These can be injuries, abortions, wounds, and infections, trampling and shock.
NFU mutual survey showed :
an increase in dogs being allowed to roam freely when at exercise (up from 64% to 73%)
49% of owners said their dog didn't always recall
Estimated cost of injured or killed animals £1.52 million last year
Midlands second highest area for insurance claims - £242,000
Advice:
Always have lead with collar or harness
Ensure in good condition - not frayed, worn, broken
If recall is poor or unreliable, or dog has high interest in livestock then don't risk it - find another route
Walk across fields quietly and calmly - noise and movement attracts cattle attention, and scares sheep
Remember farmers have the legal right to shoot a dog that is worrying livestock, they don't have to be attacking.

Monica from The Stoneberry Flock
This balwen ewe was suffering from ring womb (where the cervix doesn't dilate properly, or at all). Classic signs are preparing the lamb e.g. nesting, digging, getting up and down, some straining and looking uncomfortable, without any progress for over an hour.
On examination, the first lamb was presenting with his head downwards, causing insufficient stimulation to fully dilate the cervix. After some gentle manipulation with a lot of lube, vet Vikki corrected the lamb's head position and delivered two healthy live lambs, who were up on their feet pretty quickly!
Thanks to Monica the sheep and The Stoneberry Flock for the video!
