There has been a spike in fleas coming into the salon.
Why is this happening 🤔....I checked out a theory.
Turning on the heating in the home can stimulate the dormant pupae stage. They can hibernate for up to a year, but when conditions are humid and warm it can start a flea explosion if not caught early.
**Adult fleas only make up 5% of the flea's lifecycle**
Please check your dog before your appointment.
The quickest test is to look for flea poo 💩 brown or black pepper-like flecks that turn reddy brown on wetting, as the fleas are masters at hiding!
Brush your dog over a white surface (pillow case/paper/kitchen towel)
On finding a dog with fleas, the dog is contained in my bath while informing the owner, natural flea shampoo used or the dog collected. The salon is then closed, treated and deep cleaned, then monitored with a flea trap. Up to now my procedure has worked, not finding any remaining fleas alive, in the trap or on my dog yet.
I would prefer not to be using so many strong chemicals in my salon on a regular basis.
The cycle needs to be broken (which can take 2-4 weeks) treating everything at the same time
