Today our Level 3 Year 1 students got stuck into a heart dissection as part of their biology module. 🫀 Working in pairs, the group navigated the anatomical features of the heart, and got hands on in the labs, learning important laboratory skills, whilst recalling the in’s and out’s of the heart! 🫀

(Entries taken on the day by 12pm, at the DCG Dog Grooming Stall. Show starting at 12:30pm. Entries are £2 per dog, per class.)

🐕 Dog Agility - We have a demonstration at 12pm and a chance for you to have a go with your pooch for just £5!

🚗 If you are travelling by car, parking will be situated on the Broomfield Hall site, not at the Equine Centre.

🥾We suggest wearing appropriate footwear as there is a short walk from the Broomfield Hall carpark to the Equine Centre.

Today we had our annual pumpkin carving competition for all the equine students. Lots of sweets consumed and a huge amount of pumpkin goo later the finished pumpkins were amazing. The judges had a tough time deciding the winners but well done to Poppy, Emily, Jessie, Ruby and Emmie 🎃

On Monday 21st October it is National Reptile Awareness Day.

Therefore, we are hosting a one-off junior reptile experience for children aged 8-16, with a keen interest in reptiles. The experience with cover handling of our reptiles, feeding and some accommodation needs.

What a busy week for the students!
Last Tuesday we took a trip to Brackenhurst with the level 3 year 2 students to watch demos regarding BHS stages ready for working towards their stage 2 this year🤓
We welcomed Brioche, our new bluecross pony for the health pathway to train and develop ready for rehoming... He is just the cutest 😍😍
The level 3 first years are working on their positions in riding and had a play with Franklin balls to help with proprioception and refinement. 🟠🟠
Lastly we had the racing school in today to give a talk on careers in the racing industry which was very informative and they were lucky to have go on the equicizer 🐎🐎
What a fun filled week 🥳

This week our HE students had a fantastic visit from Lizzy at the Farm Carbon Calculator. The day consisted of interactive workshops, exploring the toolkit and how yards can use it to monitor and manage our carbon footprint! There was also time for wider thinking and exploration of what we can do 💭
Lizzy was impressed with the students detailed knowledge and creativity, and thoroughly enjoyed the students enthusiasm.
