BA Announcement 📣

I can finally share with you all that after applying for the BA scheme back in November, me & Sidney made it through to become brand ambassadors for 🤩

The Saddle Bank was set up in 2016, to offer horse riders a safe place to buy/sell saddles online. They’re now the largest online saddle retailer in the UK, holding over 1200 saddles, all available for immediate dispatch.

What really stands out for me as a brand is their values and their commitment to ensuring a safe place for horse owners when selling/buying a new saddle, making an online experience feel like a face to face interaction! All this with the caveat of saddle fitting courses available to educate ourselves on common saddle fitting issues in between fittings. - What more could you want from a brand?!

Oh, what about a cheeky little discount code? 🥳 From January 1st, you can benefit from 10% off with my code JADE10

Sorry for the radio silence of late!!

I’ve just been so busy with work and managing my social life recently I’ve hardly been on the old gram!! So, here’s a pic of me and Sidders out autumn hunting earlier this week. The 04:30am alarm was not enjoyable, still recovering from that tbh!! But it was a great morning out & Sidney was moderately well behaved 🤣 - which is always a bonus!!

I’m off to support at this weekend, so if you’re there do pop in and say hello!! I drink a skinny latte with sugar free caramel syrup 😉 just saying!!

Absolutely in love with this photo from my shoot with a few weeks ago 🤩

I’ve never done a horsey photoshoot so had no idea what to expect! Steph was great in emailing and messaging me beforehand to make sure I’d planned my outfits out and Sid’s! We spoke about the different locations and what kind of images I wanted and she put me at ease both before and during the shoot.

True to form, Sidney was a little monkey and his normal posey self was replaced by a fidgety, nibbling creature 🤣🤣 Top tip, don’t wear a white shirt when you’ve been distracting your horse with cow parsley. The stains will need some elbow grease to work out haha!!

Moral of the story, get booked in and get some beautiful images of your best friends ❤️❤️ I cannot wait to see the rest of the moments Steph captured.

What a wild month May is turning out to be!! - I feel like I’ve hardly seen this goon 🥹

Kicking off the month with our biggest launch since 1911, work has been intense! Our new range of helmets has been a massive success and after working behind the scenes for months on the launch it filled me with so much happiness fitting my first one to a real live customer at Badminton Horse Trials a few weekends back 🤩 Then, no rest for the wicked!! I’ve spent this week and last in Bonny Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

A couple more sites this morning before flying back this evening and having some time off work tomorrow to cuddle my pony ❤️ We have a photoshoot booked in with this weekend! I’m so excited to see Sidney’s personality captured behind the lens and cannot wait to see what he thinks of the r**e fields 😆💨

Dressage debrief: I remembered two tests!!! - my biggest achievement of the year so far 🤣

Sidney nearly killed me in the warm up and we had some rather fruity canter transitions in the prelim, but all in all a very good day! Had some lovely encouraging comments from the judge and now we need to work on our balance and contact to get higher marks.

Sid’s so bloody strong when he gets going but his little spaghetti legs can’t keep up with his ADHD brain and we struggle to slow everything down and find the balance.

We’re miles ahead of where we started though and this is the first canter test we’ve done where we’ve hit all the markers and maintained the canter (albeit a bit wobbly in places), so although not the highest score in the class a massive move on for us 🥹

Onto the next!

Sids face when you tell him you’ve booked a dressage competition next weekend 🤣

I’ve been working really hard on our flat work recently, so thought we’d put it to the test and enter a local unaffiliated dressage competition! Got to try and remember two tests and control Mr. Speed in a snaffle! - what could go wrong 😅?

Don’t forget your why.

We unconditionally commit ourselves to this sport. We sacrifice enormous parts of our lives, and ourselves because we are so passionate about what we love.

But whilst we work, grind and graft to become the best riders and owners we believe our horses deserve, we sometimes forget the most important thing...we forget why.

Why we get up at 3am for a competitions, why we forgo new clothes so our horses can have special shoes, why we get up 2 hours earlier than “normal people” because stables don’t clean themselves, why we invest our hard earned money in saddles, entry fees, supplements and rugs.

We do it because once upon a time, a little kid fell in love with a horse and never looked back.

We do it because these animals bring us incomparable happiness.

They lift us up from the darkest of places and they give us a reason to get out of bed.

They push us, challenge us and shape us into better people by teaching us lessons we’d never learn anywhere else.

They unlock a whole part of us that we never knew existed. A stubborn, determined, strong willed part that refuses to give up.

They keep us grounded, reminding us that sometimes even though certain things may be out of our control, our own actions and emotions never are.

They make us laugh, when we don’t even feel like smiling. They are like warm soup for the soul, they fill our hearts without even trying.

So next time your in the saddle, just take a moment. Breathe, smile, laugh... and don’t forget why ❤️

TGIF!!! And we are literally leaping into the weekend 🚀

After being away with work all week, I thought it would be a really good idea to book us in for some Arena Eventing schooling tomorrow 🤷🏼‍♀️- Let’s hope Sid’s got over his excitement of jumping again after his winter break, as there no show-jumps to warm up over at this venue either 🤔 not my smartest move, but I’m sure we’ll be fine. (I’m borrowing a friends air jacket too 😅)

Apparently he’s been a little flirt this week and hasn’t wanted to come in from the fields as one of the mares is in season! Literally his kryptonite 🤦🏼‍♀️ So he’s been giving the girls the run around when normally he literally only stays out a couple of hours before creating and wanting to come in 🙄 Bless his cottons!!

I really wanted to go bloodhounding on Sunday too, but thought I should probably spend some time with Jase after not being at home all week 😅 What’s your plans this weekend with your neddies?

Grab a cuppa, this is a long one.

Day 784839292 of winter and today resembled something that looked a little like spring was on its way. The ground in the fields is getting firmer, my face was covered in malting hair as I brushed Sid & there was even some sun this morning!

However what started off as a nice morning, feeling slightly hungover after the bottle of gin consumed last night with friends 🥴, didn’t turn out great.

I popped up to the yard to have a ride and set out on a quick hack round the block. On the lanes a postman pulled over to deliver his letters as we were walking down the road. As we got closer to the hedge line that bordered the property the postie was in, he ran back out onto the lane towards his van just in front of Sid and spooked him. Sid has a tendency to spook like a foal does and stamp his feet and turn into a fainting goat (honestly they’re real, YouTube it!) So with me still on his back he spooked, clattered his feet and fell to his knees 🥺 luckily he clambered up and the postman apologised for making him spook etc and we carried on towards home, trotted him up and he was fine. A little bute in his tea tonight, some wound cream and a walk about and hopefully he won’t be too sore in the morning. No more hacking without his knee boots on 😩!!

Anyways, I did say this would be a long one! I got a phone call this afternoon from my brother to say my step dad was walking their dog and as always he was throwing his ball for him and he was having the best time running around the park. He’s a two year lurcher, has legs for days & loves nothing more than chasing his ball, and squirrels 🤦🏼‍♀️♥️ Dodger caught his ball and swallowed it, resulting in it getting stuck in his throat and choking. He didn’t make it 💔 My family are distraught and heartbroken!!

I keep trying to share a link to my story, but Instagram doesn’t like it! It’s so hard to stay calm in a situation like that but it’s a video of how to externally remove a blockage to a dogs throat should you ever find yourself in this horrid position.

I guess I just want you all to give your fur-children an extra long hug tonight, I know I am ❤️😢

So I’ve been rubbish today and not planned my posts so here’s tomorrows, today 😅 (today’s was your favourite book, so if you manage to read all the caption, it’s basically a book!!)

Stolen from Facebook:

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you are doing just fine.

Stop beating yourself up for not riding when it’s freezing cold, pitch black and raining. It’s ok (and normal) to have no motivation at this time of year. It doesn’t make you a bad rider (or a bad owner).

Stop feeling guilty that your horse isn’t even nearly competition fit yet. Take your time and make your plan, who cares if you’re not ready for the first event? There’s a whole calendar to chose from.

Stop agonising over the fact you haven’t spent the whole winter training. Riders need a break and horses do to, you’ll probably find your horse comes back better than if they’d spent the whole winter being hammered in clinics and lessons anyway.

Stop comparing yourself to riders who have more facilities, more time or a totally different set of circumstances to you. Everyone is on their own track and has their own goals, so eyes ahead and focus on yours.

Stop telling yourself that your horse “deserves better” or is “wasted” with you. As long as your horse is fed and warm, they are quite happy, riding does not complete their life.

Winter is hard. It’s cold, it’s wet, it’s dark and it feels never ending and berating yourself for everything you aren’t doing or feel you should be doing won’t make it any easier, so cut yourself some slack and just take a breath.

You are doing just fine 💙

Been abit heavy on the reel front, so here’s a screenshot of a video from our schooling session on Friday, making use of the facilities at during all this ice and snow!!

So practical to be able to hack five minutes down the road to use their indoor school and have a change of scenery.

Today’s is and to talk about what inspires your account. Tbh, I just use this as a bit of a sound board and to store all the fab memories I have with my boy 💙

I’m not away with work this week so get to have plenty of cuddles with Sidney and try get back into some kind of routine, if this ice ever thaws!!

This just has to be the one! This is a shot of my first ride with Sid after he got the elusive all clear from the vets after his suspensory injury 🥹 a year in the making!!

I never take that view for granted now ❤️

Day 11 -
Share a brand/place/shop you love!

Well, it’s goes without saying really!! ❤️ And it literally fits into all three of those categories!!

I have such an affinity with this place & the people. Defo mine and Sidney’s favourite place to hire, where I buy all my stud muffins and other necessities from 🥹

Also, not long now till we have brighter, warmer days!!

Day 9 What are you and your horse doing today.

What a Monday 😴

First thing this morning I went to the yard to ride Sid, but it was too dark & raining so I loose jumped him instead ❤️ before heading to the office for a productive day!

Gonna put my brave pants on this Friday and give Sidders a jump under saddle at home as we have Arena Eventing hire at one of our local venues next weekend and they have some pretty beefy fences to conquer!!

Jade’s top tip for Day 5 is to always check the weather forecast & wear the appropriate coat 🤣☔️

All jokes aside, I am so looking forward to see what everyone else has to bring to the table for this one. As any time savings tips are greatly appreciated!

Anyone who knows me will know I try to plan my life by the literal hour, but as soon as it comes to my horse I have to set alarms to remind myself I need to stop procrastinating and get a shifty on as I have work or somewhere I need to be! I’m so disciplined with my riding routine, my job and personal life but hours can literally turn to days spent at the yard and not achieving much 🤣🤣!!

Luckily I’m fortunate enough to have Sid on full livery so I know he’s constantly being looked after and getting what he needs when I’m staying away with work, or just having a ‘day off’. So I guess I do save time not having to muck out every day too 🤷🏼‍♀️
