Altrad Belle were happy to support the Manifold Pre-School with a donation of a Warrior Wheelbarrow for their raffle.

The Pre-School is a charity run school based within Manifold CoE Academy in Warslow, which is situated close to the Altrad Belle in Sheen.

They offer childcare to the local community and surrounding areas for children aged 18months to 4 years and are a vital part of the small community.

The raffle has raised much needed funds for new pre-school equipment to help the children thrive and develop. Without fundraising they wouldn't be able to provide the children with new resources. The raffle raised an amazing £635.00.

The Deputy Manager of the pre-school, Victoria Allen received the Wheelbarrow donation from Richard MacPhail - Quality, Maintenance, Engineering and CSR Manager at Altrad Belle.

The winner of the wheelbarrow was Carla Critchlow who lives in Sheen and presented to her from the deputy manager Victoria Allen. Carla was very pleased with her prize.

Altrad Belle were approached for our help by Ladydale Residential and Dementia Care Home in Leek, Staffordshire.

They hold fundraising events throughout the year to make it possible for their wonderful residents to have trips out, chosen by themselves, entertainment, parties, meals out, to name but a few things.

Without the fundraising they would find it a hard task to provide the events. Thanks to other local businesses kindly donating items to raffle or auction off makes it possible.

We were happy to donate one of our Warrior Wheelbarrow to the activities coordinator Carren Lovatt, which helped to raise £478.50.

We were contacted in December by Ashcottprojects Ltd with details of a challenge that they were going to tackle in the run up to Christmas.

In aid of Cancer Research UK they were attempting to walk the Yorkshire Three Peaks, a total of 24 miles, with one of our Warrior Wheelbarrows and 3 bags of sand, equal to 92kg.

We were only too happy to support the challenge and donate one of our Warrior’s to the cause.

MKM Leeds also contributed to the challenge by providing the guys with head torches, hats and energy snacks to keep them going.

On the 20th December they set off and in horrendous conditions they managed to complete 2 of the 3 peaks (Pen y Ghent and Whernside) and walked a total of 18 miles. Unfortunately they picked up some injuries along the way and battling heavy wind and rain from the get go, they made the decision to cut it short on the last one in case they got stranded and hypothermia set in due to being wet through.

It was an unbelievable effort from the lads in terrible conditions and they have vowed to complete the challenge in the new year by conquering Ingleborough.

They have managed to raise over £4,000 in total so far but any more generous donations would be hugely appreciated. The link to their Go Fund Me page can be found below:-

𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲 - 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀

𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟭 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲 is a friendly group which meets at Warslow Village Hall on the first Wednesday of every month during winter to listen to knowledgeable and entertaining speakers and enjoy sharing an interest in local history. History walks and outings also take place during the summer.

At their recent meeting they held their annual Christmas Raffle and Auction in aid of the Air Ambulance Service, for which we were happy to donate one of our Warrior Wheelbarrows to be auctioned off. This was won by a delighted John Graham of Sheen who paid £110.00 and said 'It pushes like a dream!'. Unfortunately, John couldn't be at the meeting but his sister Elspeth Walker also of Sheen was presented with the barrow on his behalf.

Thanks to the many local businesses and individuals who donated such wonderful prizes to a help a fantastic cause. An amazing £303.11 was raised.

Peter Corbett, Air Ambulance Fundraiser from Buxton was presented with the donation by Deborah, vice chair of History Live, and said it was a fabulous amount from a small group.

On the 22nd December, The Manifold Inn Hotel, Hulme End, held their annual Christmas Quiz and Raffle to raise much needed funds for our local first responder groups.

We were happy to donate one of our Warrior Wheelbarrows to the cause and a fantastic £890 was raised overall. The funds will be split between the Wetton and Alstonefield Community First Responders - WACFR and Flash and Longnor Community First Responders.

Well done to the Manifold Inn for organiser such a successful fundraising event, huge thanks to those who took part and donated prizes and congratulations to all those who won prizes.

Last week, The The Manifold Inn Hotel, situated in Hulme End and the closest pub/hotel to our site in Sheen, held their annual Tractor Run and Raffle, for which we donated a Warrior Wheelbarrow, to raise funds for charity.

The day was a huge success with 26 tractors taking part in the Tractor Run that worked their way around the local villages covering approx. 26 miles (41Km) in total. Many more people took part in the raffle and a magnificent £1,145.00 was raised for Cancer Research UK.

Well done to all involved! 👏
