Soaking feeds is so beneficial for keeping your horse hydrated, especially useful for horses and ponies that might not drink enough water on their own.
An additional benefit to a soaked feed is that it helps maintain proper gut motility and reduces the risk of digestive problems.
All Allen & Page feeds are fully balanced so no need to add a balancer. If your horse or pony is in hard work and sweating excessively, you may wish to add an electrolyte once the feed is soaked.

💦 Allen & Page Soaked Feeds 💦
If you're working your horse in warm weather, training, traveling, or staying away from home, you need to consider your horse's hydration!
Most horses don't drink well when out competing, and often won't start drinking until they're already dehydrated! So we need to do our best to maintain hydration levels.
I know a lot of horses who don't eat or don't do well whilst traveling, which can lead to them going long periods with nothing going through their gut.
Allen & Page feeds can be made up and kept in a lidded bucket for traveling, so you always have some to hand. This is useful if you schedule yourself a stop en-route, I just stir the sloppy feed and then offer it in the trailer. The horses love it!
Making a sloppy feed is a great way of getting some water in your horse, not all horses like it super wet, as you'll see from my reel, it's a slightly different consistency for each horse.
I tend to use Allen & Page Fast Fibre for a soup, adding in some Soothe & Gain for Oakley or Benny. Or adding some 'L' Mix for Dan.
My horses always have fresh water and forage available, when traveling, stabled, turned out, or in a vet gate. I also like to have apples or carrots to add to their feeds to keep it interesting if we're staying away.
Keeping food and water going through our horses is essential.
If you want to start adding in extra sloppy feeds for your horse, ensure you're mindful of their energy needs. Don't introduce new feeds suddenly, always introduce feeds gradually, over at least two weeks.

We had the Privilege of watching supported rider Gubby Leech and the beautiful Royal Harvest (Bassett) preparing for their dressage at Badminton Horse Trials yesterday.
Gubbys groom Poppy talked us through Bassets Badminton routine whilst Gubby gave us an insight into his thoughts of the cross country course.

Supported Rider India Wishart at Badminton 5*
We caught up with supported rider India Wishart Eventing at Badminton Horse Trials yesterday. India kindly talked us through her thoughts on the course so far as well as the prestigious lake combination.
