Evening Everyone πŸ’š

Firstly I would like to say a huge thank you to all my past customers/friends and their dogs. For not only letting me help you on your dog owning journey building great bonds, but for trusting me and bringing me into your life and your dogs life.

The last 10 years have been such an amazing and special journey for me and my heart cannot tell you all enough how grateful I am and how much you have all meant to me. I have never been able to keep in contact with everyone that I have worked with because there have been so many of you which has been amazing.

I can truly say that not a day goes by that I am not thankful and cherish the memories I have shared with you all.

You all hold a very special place in my heart because without you all I would not be the person and have become the trainer I am today. I have grown and learnt so much not just about dogs and relationships with you the owners but myself and my own dog owning journey.

I have had such an amazing adventure and am truly blessed that I got to be part of it all. From the tears, sadness, loss to the happiness, joy, breakthroughs and funny and hilarious moments I have been through with you all.

From the day I started I knew that we all get callings in our lives whether you believe in this sort of thing or not but for me I did.

I truly believe everything happens for a reason like my own dogs entering my life and everything I have shared with them and what they have taught me. A connection that can never be explained but my soul mates and my best friends.

As you all know that I have been through my fair share of ups and downs and I know that they have led me to a place where I am now at a turning point in my life.

So it is with great heartfelt sadness but also excitement for the future that I will no longer be running my training business from now. Who knows what the future holds but at this present time I am on a new adventure and stepping outside my comfort zone and spreading my wings.

I can tell you that what I will be embracing will still hopefully be helpful to you all or be of interest so keep an eye out as I will post about it here in the coming weeks when its up and running. I hope you will support and follow me and my new adventure.

For this part of my journey for now, the dog training world for me will be in my heart and in my memories.

I really can't explain what a big decision this was for me and I can never ever share the emotions I have had and how much you have all meant to me.

Thank you for all your love, support, trust, generosity, kindness and just letting me be part of your lives. Truly truly thankful.

All my love for the future to you all and its not goodbye but hello to the future and embracing what is to come. Don't be strangers, go and be amazing! I hope that your dog owning journeys are as wonderful as mine has been and you get to share those amazing moments with your best friends πŸ’š

Take care and big hugs to all your gorgeous doggies

When you got your dog you pictured a life that is different to the one you have?

There was the excitement, enthusiasm. Great walks and socialising with friends and family and their dogs and doing lots of fun things with them.

Your didnt expect your dog to be diagnosed with health conditions or hit senior hood so soon which has changed your way of life.

Reality never really matched expectation, for you, living with a challenging dog and so many mixed emotions for yourself along the way.

It can be exhausting.

Right now…

πŸ’š You may feel trapped because you can’t have company over and feel discouraged?
πŸ’š You get anxious or frustrated out on walks?
πŸ’š You doubt yourself and your ability to keep doing β€œthis” for once you would like your day to be relaxed with your dog?
πŸ’š You and your dog may feel anxious, worried or even lost on how to move forward?
πŸ’š Vet visits, grooming, going to classes are all something that are a struggle?
πŸ’š Medical conditions for your dogs are affecting day to day life or senior hood restricting what they can do?

Everything seems so black and white, it’s either keep feeling stressed and lost, or get the dog trained and get a behaviourist in? Or stop doing things you used to do with them?

Yes! all dogs needs guidance, training and care but....

What if the reality is that training and caring for your dog isn’t the (whole) story?

What about you the dog owner how does this all effect you?

As a Professional Qualified Dog trainer, Coach and Owner myself I know and have experienced these things myself.

Would you like to see things through a different lens?

Small things can lead to greater things

Then I can help.

Guidance, Support and giving you a new outlook to your dog owning journey

29/02/2024

Hey everyone πŸ’š

I wanted to share this with you

You may ask what and why does hugging a tree out on dog walks help??

You may think I am crazy or you may completely understand

Is it as simple as black and white its right or its wrong?

I spent times myself too focused on what comes next, who's going to walk round the corner with their dog off lead, how the walk was going to be even when it hadn't started yet. If my dog was going to roll in fox poo and ruin my day 🀣.

Are you doing the same route and the same situations happening pulling on leads or the place the dog always runs off. The same conflicts with other owners or even family members over the dog. So many things scroll through our minds.

When I started to learn more about myself and my emotions came the opportunity to just be in the moment solely focusing on the smaller things. One of them was hugging a tree. This is just one of the simple things I do. (Being mindful of where you dog is at this time is very important).

It was about taking those couple of minutes to help your brain disconnect from all the other things that you are always thinking about on walks take some deep breaths hug a tree and carry on.

It was something that helped me train my own brain to see, deal and cope differently with my own dogs. I was interrupting what my subconscious was always telling me and training it to do something different.

We are always teaching our dogs and helping them to understand new things, new obstacles and also adding in things like calm time which is so important for them. To help them see, cope, deal and assess the world differently.

So why is it any different than adding little things into our dog owning journey like the hugging of a tree any different for us.

It helped me create a more in depth bond between me and my dogs, as I was also helping myself the owner to change my mindset.

Shared walks are for creating more lasting memories, sense of companionship and joy.

Also I like to appreciate the places that me and my dogs love so much πŸ’š

Shared love and adventure that walking our dogs brings into our lives or should be??? Right

Come and join me for seeing your dog owning journey through a new lense and a new outlook especially if you have tried everything else. We all need to train and look after our dogs but who says it's wrong to see it from this amazing different perspective and not only support your dog but yourself! πŸ’š

Hey everyone πŸ’š

Please take a read and let me help you see things from a different perspective πŸ’š

Sometimes on our dog owning journey we only know it to have two sides, it’s either black or white. This can be down to what we see, what we learn, what is being taught, what we understand.

Your dog is good or bad, your dog is confident or fearful. You are doing a good job at training your dog. You are doing a bad job at training your dog. You are doing too much for your dog. You are not doing enough for your dog. You are feeding the wrong food. You are feeding the right food.

A mixture of the two is not possible and you never view the life with the grey areas in between.

You can see things like situations, behaviours, walks, vet visits and many other things to only have positive and negative characteristics. Looking at this dog owning journey this way makes it easier for us.

Photographers, on the other hand, see black and white as colors that deliver meaning to their photos giving it a mysterious and real touch both at the same time.

However, even though a black-white perspective does make it easier to come up with a conclusion about everything, it causes us to miss the smaller things that can effect our journeys with our dogs such as our emotions and how we see, deal and cope and it doesn’t then help reveal the things that can show you the way and to really change that journey. Looking at all the aspects will teach us to learn new ways to go through this dog owning journey, let go of expectations that can cause us to live with constant disappointment, and pushes us to be the best version of ourselves instead of setting up a limit on what we can and cannot do with our dogs and building that relationship.

Thinking our dog owning experience only has either a perfect or a terrible side will not allow us to try and see if there is more to what presents itself. We should never limit ourselves because then, we will never be able to enjoy the unexpected and the undiscovered grey areas of a dog owning journey.

Learning and growing together as a team and all those smaller grey areas could be the things that can change and transform and help you and your dog truly embrace life together πŸ’š

Come and join my page and start to see things through a new lense πŸ’š

19/02/2024

Hi everyone πŸ’š

We all go through tough times, not so easy days, in our lives and also in our dog owning journeys πŸ’š

Where we feel completely overwhelmed, lost, frustrated or stressed.

Recognizing and owning the signs that indicate you’re feeling this way can be a crucial step towards seeking help, understanding and to grow your relationship with your dog πŸ’š

The moment that I learnt in my own journey to allow myself to be β€œnot okay” was a turning point in my life and as being a dog owner πŸ’š

To allow yourself to feel is to allow yourself to really live and embrace this dog owning journey πŸ’š

Once I was able to look at my emotions honestly, I was able to look at my life with my dog honestly and to realize that I did, in fact, want to participate wholly in it. I appreciated life more deeply than ever before and being able to embrace the time with my dogs πŸ’š

Whilst sitting here feeling unwell myself right now knowing that my dogs are okay and that there is no pressure on me to have an amazing adventure with them today and it was time to recover. I felt free from overwhelm or guilt. I know they are okay as you can see from my girly being very comfortable and content 🀣

Time and time again, when faced with some of hardest moments as a dog owner being able to learn β€œIt’s okay to be not okay.”

Accepting that simple truth has been exactly the remedy that allowed me and my dogs to move into a space where we are thriving πŸ’š

Being able to react, cope, understand myself and my dogs, see things differently made the biggest change in my life and my dogs πŸ’š

You are doing the best you can and little things everyday can make a huge difference too πŸ’š

Come and join me on a new way of experiencing your dog owning adventure πŸ’š

13/02/2024

Hey everyone πŸ’š

It's finally here! 🀩

What if you tried everything and you didn't think things would happen or get any better with your dog?

You love your dog I know that, but life with your dog…

…not so much sometimes

When you got your dog you pictured the life you were going to have.

There was the excitement, the hope, the enthusiasm. But reality did not always match up!

When we are living with challenging dogs or challenging circumstances on this dog owning journey, it can be tough sometimes and that's okay to admit this to ourselves πŸ’š

Doorbells may ring at any point, dogs may appear out of nowhere on a walk, there maybe a confrontation with another owner. A not so great vet visit and outcome. Struggling with dogs going to the groomers there are plenty more of these things I could name plenty.

It can be exhausting, stressful, frustrating. You may feel discouraged or have doubt. Struggle with anxieties, worry and could even be some resentment or even guilt.

So many different emotions on this journey we get to have with our dogs πŸ’š

Like you I put so much effort into training and caring for my dog. I poured my heart and soul into it, because I believed that would get me closer to the life I wanted. But there were alot of things out of my control πŸ’š

The thing is the dog owning journey life looks different for everyone πŸ’š

The reality is that training and caring for your dog isn’t the (whole) story.

We can focus too much on the destination rather than where we are in that particular moment and how we cope, see, react or deal with it πŸ’š

So let's help you the owner to confidently decide what is right for you and your dog. Make better choices and understand each other more. Help you with the smaller things you can do. Bring more happy moments that can be overlooked because you are concentrating on the bigger things.

I want to help you the owner as you are very important in this dog owning journey too. You are a team πŸ’š

If you would like to find out more and to embrace a new way of looking at your dog owning journey. Contact me I look forward to helping you see a different side to this dog owning relationship πŸ’š

Hey everyone πŸ’š

Well today I had to say goodbye to this lovely lady as she is on another new adventure whilst her family on leave until September πŸ’š

Another little family member will be welcomed during this time in the human form lol someone else to love her and spoil her rotten. So she will be doing her doggy duties of lots of cuddles and relationship building πŸ’š

Will miss her lots and yep true to me a a few tears 🀣

Everything I am true to is the way I have always looked after and built my own relationships gaining these doggies trust and understanding them so we always have a great time in each others company. My adopted doggy family. I have looked after all these dogs for many years now and I feel so privileged everyday to share their company and the owners let me be a big part of their lives and journey πŸ’š

See you again soon young lady and look forward to meeting your new little member when you are back πŸ’š and congrats family πŸ₯³

06/02/2024

Hey everyone πŸ’š

We all know about QUALITY VS QUANTITY. HOW VALUABLE IS THE TIME YOU SPEND WITH YOUR DOG?

For YOU! and YOUR DOG

We spend so much time and money making sure our dogs are happy and healthy. We invest in training, health and medical treatment, enrichment toys, beds (and then more beds when the first are destroyed 🀣 ), collars, leads, food then there is the ( never-ending expense that our dog gives us with the privilege of constantly cleaning up the back garden 🀣 ) πŸ’š

We spend as much time as we can with them, while also feeling guilty that it’s not enough πŸ’š

But.. what if I told you that the amount of time you spent with your dog was less important than what you do during that time? And in that moment

Yes there is the time needed to be spent in training and exercise and not leaving them home alone to long these are very important πŸ’š

Your dog will feel more satisfied and content (with more positive associations with you) if they’re enjoying and actively engaged with you. Long and sniffy walks in new areas can sometimes be more valuable to a dog than playing fetch non-stop, or walking the same lap of the block every day.

When we spend time with our dog it’s important we do things that they enjoy doing. But there is also another thing that's important YOU! πŸ’š

But what if that's not happening, you are out there with your dog and there is..

Pulling on leads, barking at other dogs, running off, jumping all over visitors, bumping into other owners and there is some sort of upset or conflict, dreaded vet visits I could name more.

You are struggling not just with your dogs behaviours but also how you are feeling...

Stressed, worried, full of anxiety, your brain is full of lots of other things that affect your day.

The thing is all of the above is okay and I am here to tell you that you are doing an awesome job and doing the best you can at that time πŸ’š

Could things be better of course they can. Can I help you with this definitely πŸ’š

I have found ways that truly help with that part of your dog owning journey that can make that day so much happier and helps you embrace those moments with your dog πŸ’š

If you are excited to know more join my page and share with your friends, family and I will be sharing with you this great journey very soon πŸ’š

Keep posted πŸ’š

Hey everyone πŸ’š

What a beautiful way to spend the week with my gorgeous walking buddies.

What a difference mindset can be and how truly enjoyable and being so lucky to be in their company πŸ’š

It is a privilege everyday πŸ’š

31/01/2024

Hey everyone πŸ’š

Should you have big dreams about what your dog owning journey should look like?

Of course you should πŸ’š

Should you dream of that well behaved dog that goes everywhere with you, walks great on a lead, is great with people and other dogs?

Of course you should πŸ’š

Should you dream about the many years you have with your dog and that everyday is going to be so good for them?

Of course you should yes! yes and yes! πŸ’š

The thing is here's where it can go wrong... you dream about the end the final destinations πŸ’š

You make this amazing collage of pictures of what it's going to be πŸ’š

That has nothing to do with your current stage of your dog owning journey πŸ’š

As you are literally sitting there on your couch and you are scrolling through social media or watching a dog training program and seeing all these amazing outcomes. Saying to yourself 'one day' this will be me and my dog or even this will never be us and doubting yourself or yours dogs abilities πŸ’š

What ever your dog owning struggle maybe

It's going to in that moment make you feel like you are failing and you are not being a great owner for your dog πŸ’š

Because if I have learnt anything is that there is a gap between where you are and where your want your dog owning journey to be πŸ’š

But the thing is when you are constantly focused on the end and visualising every scenario it can be demotivating and stressful and can not only affect you but your dog too. It all feels impossible πŸ’š

At first its great to go to that first puppy class or agility or scentwork or you learn a new trick from a YouTube video. Its exactly what you visualised and then it all starts to change or things happen. In between those sessions you have had some bad experiences or seen behaviours from your dog that aren't looking like you imagined. You are struggling so you sit there going over everything again on the couch and feeling a bit rubbish about things πŸ’š

The thing is if I can help you with anything is that there is a bridge between where you are and where you need to go. There is going to be struggles, challenges, good days, bad days, sad days and that's okay πŸ’š

But to help you truly with your dog owning journey is to take everyday and learn to deal with that one and how you can make that a great day.

Less pressure, less expectation.

Building yourself and your dog up for a great journey. Whatever stage they are at in their lives πŸ’š

I will be talking to you very soon about how and why and how I can help you πŸ’š

Hey everyone happy friday πŸ’š

Theodore Roosevelt said the following about comparison, β€œComparison Is the Thief of Joy.” When we compare ourselves to others, we rob ourselves of our own happiness. Through comparison, we either feel a sense of inferiority or superiority, and either route you take does not create lasting happiness.

What has this you ask have anything to owning a dog?

This was something I myself experienced not only with my own dogs but also as a trainer.

What are people going to think of my training compared to others? What are people or customers going to think if I have a dog that is struggling with its behaviour? Surely as you are a trainer your dogs should be perfect right? Why are my dogs going through these medical issues and are people going to think I wasn't looking after them well enough or giving them what they need?

These days, it feels almost impossible to avoid comparison with social media, the internet, tv shows and the constant access into people’s dog owning lives. At any moment of any day, we can pick up our phones and see a small moment of someone else’s life and journey with their dog.

We may think: β€œWhy won't my dog do that?, why is that owner having a better dog experience than me?” my dog will never be able to cope with that? people will judge my dog as its fearful or its reacting to things I could never take them there or away with me how is that even possible my dog isn't like them? How do I even start to help train my dog like them as I don't know anything? How do I ask for help no one will understand? I have tried everything but my dog owning experience isn't how its supposed to look it should look like the one on the TV?

Things like this only harms us and can be seen as wasted energy since the access we have in the dog owning world is so huge it is sometimes just a tiny snapshot of someone’s else's dog owning journey or experiences.

There is so much amazing information out there and you can access it just like that but this can also be overwhelming in many ways.

We can compare how we look to strangers and their dogs when we’re out on walks. We can compare ourselves and our dogs to the behaviours of others. We can compare ourselves and our dogs to friends and families dogs and their relationships. We can compare our dog owning experience to one we have had in the past. It’s a horrible cycle to get caught up in, not just for you but for your dog.

How do we free ourselves from that......

The first thing we have to do is acknowledge that comparison doesn’t serve us, reminding ourselves that we are all different and so are our dogs. Ending the comparison cycle is sometimes easier said than done because of what the pictures of what other owners journeys look like.

If we compare ourselves, we will always lose. This is because there will always be someone who has a what people like to call 'a better behaved dog', or a dog that hasn't had many medical problems or they have not experienced a dog that is fearful or is reacting to things out in the environment. A dog that walks lovely on a lead? Or a dog that doesn't bark but mine is the same breed as their dog?

So many questions????????????? and comparisons the list could go on

No matter what so many dogs and owners are going through different things.

What do you do if you want to feel good about your dog owning journey?

Remembering the person whose opinion matters the most is your own and what you feel and the happiness you and your dog have together. Once you stop comparing your dog owning journey to others, you can really begin to enjoy it.

When we don’t give into the comparison game, we have the opportunity to truly focus on our dogs and ourselves, and to live the best life we can with our dogs, no matter the ups and downs. When we choose to not let comparison dictate the way we see our dog owning journey we can live and be present one day at a time.

Learning and growing together

This was one of the best things I ever learnt and really helped me build such great relationships with not just my own dogs but with myself.

You and your dog or dogs are amazing no matter what stage or situation you are in and every day is precious and it is a journey not a destination πŸ’š
