A good example of the kind of dirt & grime that can be hiding on your tack, especially on dark coloured bridles where it’s harder to see. But just because it’s less visible doesn’t mean its not there 🦠 🦠

My clippers are finally back from servicing 🥳 And ready to resume those winter makeovers 🐴💈✂️

They took a little while longer than originally expected, as upon inspection of the clippers themselves there were no issues or repairs needed on them, but upon closer inspection of the cable there was an issue with the middle connection point where my clipper lead connects to the mains lead. This was causing my clippers to cut out for a couple of seconds intermittently during clips. To stop this issue from occurring again in the future, I’ve had the old cable replaced with a new cable that connects directly from the clippers to the mains without the middle connector, eliminating the issue 🙂‍↕️

🦠 Before & After ✨

Had these riding boots in for a deep clean this week. Washed with leather soap, followed by a coat of leather balm and finished with a light oil to the leather and the zips for easier fastening 🧽

Just £10 on their own, or £5 if you send them in with your saddle & bridle saving you £5 😀

Over – rugging your horse

Be careful not to over – rug your horse. Over rugging horses can be a big problem during the autumn and winter months, as it can be cold in the early morning and during the night. However, during the day the temperature can get into the mid teens, which can cause overheating in many horses that are rugged.

A good quality and well-fitted rug, that is waterproof and windproof, will be most efficient, rather than worrying about tog value.

Your horse’s overall body condition should be your first port of call, when deciding about putting a rug on. Unless your horse is thin skinned, lacking body weight, elderly or has been fully clipped it shouldn’t need more than a lightweight rug, unless it’s extremely cold.

Making my way through a large group booking of tack cleans this week 🧽

On this first saddle, I got into all those little areas that often hold dirt and get dry. These places often are missed when being wiped over in-between deep cleans. My trick for cleaning these intricate little areas is a good quality tack cleaner and a soft bristled toothbrush to clean, a soft dry cloth to dry the stitching, followed by a light application of leather conditioner to restore some moisture in these areas ✨
