A good example of the kind of dirt & grime that can be hiding on your tack, especially on dark coloured bridles where it’s harder to see. But just because it’s less visible doesn’t mean its not there 🦠 🦠

My clippers are finally back from servicing 🥳 And ready to resume those winter makeovers 🐴💈✂️

They took a little while longer than originally expected, as upon inspection of the clippers themselves there were no issues or repairs needed on them, but upon closer inspection of the cable there was an issue with the middle connection point where my clipper lead connects to the mains lead. This was causing my clippers to cut out for a couple of seconds intermittently during clips. To stop this issue from occurring again in the future, I’ve had the old cable replaced with a new cable that connects directly from the clippers to the mains without the middle connector, eliminating the issue 🙂‍↕️

🦠 Before & After ✨

Had these riding boots in for a deep clean this week. Washed with leather soap, followed by a coat of leather balm and finished with a light oil to the leather and the zips for easier fastening 🧽

Over – rugging your horse

Be careful not to over – rug your horse. Over rugging horses can be a big problem during the autumn and winter months, as it can be cold in the early morning and during the night. However, during the day the temperature can get into the mid teens, which can cause overheating in many horses that are rugged.

A good quality and well-fitted rug, that is waterproof and windproof, will be most efficient, rather than worrying about tog value.

Your horse’s overall body condition should be your first port of call, when deciding about putting a rug on. Unless your horse is thin skinned, lacking body weight, elderly or has been fully clipped it shouldn’t need more than a lightweight rug, unless it’s extremely cold.

Making my way through a large group booking of tack cleans this week 🧽

On this first saddle, I got into all those little areas that often hold dirt and get dry. These places often are missed when being wiped over in-between deep cleans. My trick for cleaning these intricate little areas is a good quality tack cleaner and a soft bristled toothbrush to clean, a soft dry cloth to dry the stitching, followed by a light application of leather conditioner to restore some moisture in these areas ✨

Since I started clipping last year, I’ve done more Irish clips, full clips, and more leg clips than I can count! 🙈
But I have barely done any blanket clips or trace clips, In fact I know I have only done 2 blankets, and I have never done a trace clip! Are these clips going out of style? 🤔

Today I’ve found myself constantly checking for updates on Hurricane Milton that is due to hit Florida tomorrow. It’s devastating the amount of people who are going to lose their homes, their animals and possibly their own lives. Especially the people who are unable to evacuate for personal reasons or are trying to evacuate but are stuck on the gridlocked roads out of Florida. The people who are having to write names & DOB’s on their children’s arms and on their own, the people who are having to write a name and phone number on their horses and livestock and set them free knowing that it’ll be a miracle if they survive the 10-15ft flooding and 150+mph winds predicted in the Zone A areas. It really makes me reflect on how lucky we are in the UK, we may get fed up of the constant rain, and it may feel miserable here at times but at least we are safe, and our children, families and animals are safe. I feel incredibly lucky that I have tucked my children in to bed tonight and my pets are happy, meanwhile others don’t know if they’re going to get through these next few days.

Please hug your children, family, friends and loved pets extra tight today and keep Florida in your thoughts. Wishing for the best possible outcome 😔

As some of you probably noticed, I haven’t been doing the photography side of the business for a while. Last winter I decided to focus on my new venture into clipping, and this year I decided to take the pressure of myself for paid photography and to just enjoy hobby photography for a while. I had become overly self-critical and doubting, and I lost my confidence. But through simply enjoying the hobby side, I’ve been able to improve and feel that I’m ready to come back into the work side again 🙂

With that said, I’m going to be starting with Autumnal shoots in the next couple of weeks 🎃 I have some new props for these, including an Autumn leaf garland, and a bridle piece 🍂🍁 These shoots will be available from October to mid November.

Following from them, my popular Happy Holi-Neigh Christmas shoots will return 🎄🎅🏻 just as before, I have a Christmas garland, a Santa hat, reindeer antlers and Tinsel that are available to use. These will be available between late - November to mid December.
