After such an amazing response to my sketching workshop i'm excited to offer a new course this Autumn.

'First Marks' supports you in scaling up a photograph or sketch onto canvas. Using acrylic paint we will explore its versatility, considering line and mark along with an introduction into colour. You will work with both visual and non-visual cues to create the beginnings of a painting abundant with feeling and personality.

If you are stuck sketching and want to progress to paint, or struggle knowing how to start your painting then this course is for you.

Suitable for beginners as well as creatives looking for new inspiration.

Calling all budding artists 📣 Chadkirk Chapel in Stockport are hosting a painting competition on Sunday 25th August. A fun community led event open to all, and there are even prizes!

There are three age categories: children (up to 12); young adults (12–18) and adults (over 18). For each category there is a prize of a £50 Amazon voucher for the best entry.

You can work in any media, or in mixed media. The subject can be anything in or around the chapel, garden and grounds – or on the Chadkirk Estate. It has to be created on the day, within a three-hour window.

You must provide your own materials. There is no charge to take part. You must register first online, to help manage numbers.

I am helping to judge the competition this year so I hope to see some of you there 👍
