Foraging for your small pets🐰🌿⁠

Foraging is the term used for searching for a range of different plants - something that rabbits naturally do and graze on in the wild! You could forage in your garden, gardens of families or friends and even hedgerows!

Here are some examples of plants that are safe for rabbits: ⁠

“[Lydia and Will] go on a walk to the more rural area of town, away from where the council or the public could leave weedkiller and/or chemicals which may be dangerous for rabbits. We begin with safety gloves and of course the HayDay foraging bag to ensure no plastic chemicals are transmitted to the fresh forage! We only use the appropriate tools and always make sure we forage in a way that can ensure the plants to regrow. We also only pick enough fresh forage for a day or two as the greens tend to start to go bad”⁠ 🌿

🌱 We’ve reintroduced hedge planting! Each year, from November until February, our hedge planting team are out in the fields planting a haven for wildlife.
🐑 Sheep from the Yorkshire Dales, Moors and Lakes visit our farm every winter to act as lawnmowers and encourage diversity for happy and healthy grass!
♻️ Our latest project on the farm has been the installation of our solar panels! These panels help us power our farm - sustainably.

Don’t forget! Our packaging is also 100% plastic free - we only use recyclable and environmentally friendly materials round here. This is all for happy pets and a healthy planet 🐰🐹

Lucerne, also known as Alfalfa Hay, is a legume - not a grass - but don’t let that put your small pet’s tastebuds off! Alfalfa is a fantastic forage option to feed alongside their usual primary hay 😋 Its coarse, green and leafy texture is guaranteed to be a hit with your small animals!⁠

When Alfalfa Hay grows, it produces a beautiful purple leaf which is where you’ll find all the goodness - AKA protein! Alfalfa is high in protein and calcium making it an excellent feeding hay for young (up to 6 months), growing and breeding small animals.⁠
