Safety warning: self-closing cat litter trays ⚠️

There are serious risks posed by unregulated self-closing cat litter trays, including claims that they have caused tragic deaths.

They're becoming common in the US and we're concerned about them gaining popularity in the UK. We urge people to avoid purchasing them and to stick to reputable brands.

Please share to protect cats in your community.

Any change in the way an animal moves would indicate pain

'He's limping, but he's not in pain!'

This is something we hear, a lot.

And unfortunately it can lead to a huge amount of pets carrying on with chronic pain without the necessary medicinal or multimodal support.

An article by Vet Help Direct helps to explain more about where this confusion stems from:

Limping and stiffness can be caused by several different conditions. The most common being acute injuries and skeletal issues like osteoarthritis (OA). As many as 80% of dogs over 8 years old have OA in one or more joints.

The way that our dogs display pain may not be how we expect; limping usually equals pain or discomfort!

Also polite reminder that our policy is to order medication including flea/worm treatments 48hr in advance. Our vets will always get to these prescriptions sooner if they can, but these last few weeks it’s been very difficult. Thanks again!

Today marks the 33rd anniversary of Breed Specific Legislation, but it's no cause for celebration. It's also been six months since XL Bullies were added to the list of banned types of dogs.

Since the start of the year, we've received 824 reports of XL Bullies who have been neglected, intentionally harmed and left unattended, which is an enormous increase across the board.

We remain opposed to Breed Specific Legislation. It does not protect public safety and results in healthy, loving dogs being put to sleep based solely on appearance.

📸 Storm is one of the XL Bullies rehomed by the wonderful Bristol Animal Rescue Centre just before the ban came into force. This beautiful girl landed herself in a home where she now gets to be a big sister to three other dogs and is absolutely adored 💙

Flora and her babies have been living with us from 4 days before the birth 💕 they are wonderful and deserve really special homes! We are unsure what breed the dad is. Flora was rescued by HYPS and we stepped in after seeing the urgent plea for immediate help. If you have space for one of these gorgeous babies in your home and heart please go to the HYPS website and fill in an application form. Mummy Flora will be permanently adopted by us 😊 We would love the babies to stay local so we can see them grow 💚
