Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from little Jacob and everyone at Furry and Friends Animal Rescue and Guinea Pig Sanctuary!
🌸 Update on Little Flower Penelope 🌸
As many of you know, Flower Penelope was rescued just a few days ago. Last night, she was rushed to the 24hr vets after experiencing a some brief seizures. These seizures only lasted a few minutes , and she quickly recovered, returning to play and enjoy life as a typical kitten.sadly after coming back she went into some more brief seizure
Right now, it’s all about ruling out potential causes. The good news is that her oxygen levels are stable, and she isn’t in any distress when she’s not having a seizure. In fact, she’s a happy and playful kitten.
She’s currently receiving 1-to-1 care with one of our wonderful foster, who has extensive experience caring for special cases like hers. We’re also awaiting input from a specialist to help determine the cause of these seizures and establish the best plan moving forward for Flower’s health.
Here’s what we’ve been able to rule out so far:
Meningitis or Encephalitis: Flower went 8 hours without a seizure, making these unlikely.
Hypoxemia: Her oxygen saturation is normal, she’s nice and pink, and she responds normally to her surroundings.
Toxin Exposure: This is unlikely, as her symptoms don’t align with typical toxin-related issues.
It’s possible there could be an issue with her kidneys or liver causing toxins to build up, but her long gaps between seizures don’t fully align with this theory.
We’re leaning towards a neurological cause, but we’re waiting for further guidance from the specialist. For now, she’s puzzling everyone—this isn’t how kittens typically present with seizures.
The most important thing is that Flower Penelope is a happy, playful kitten who doesn’t seem to know she’s a medical mystery. She’s keeping us all on our toes, but we’re all doing everything we can to ensure she has the best care possible.
Thank you for your continued support ❤️

🌸 Flower’s Journey to a Forever Home 🏡🐾
At Furry and Friends, we’re helping Flower adjust to life in a loving home environment. 💕 Born in the wild, Flower has never experienced the comforts of a cozy house or the joys of domestic life. But with time, patience, and love, we’re determined to change that!
To guide her on this journey, we’ve paired her with our wonderful long-term resident, Madrick. 🐈 Madrick came to us from Wales after other rescues sadly turned him away due to behavioral challenges. Despite his tough start, he’s become an integral part of our sanctuary family. While Madrick will remain with us for life, he’s stepping up as Flower’s mentor, showing her the ropes and helping her build confidence. 🌟
📹 This video shows Flower beginning to navigate her new indoor environment. We’re giving her the freedom to come out and explore on her own terms, letting her walk away if she feels uncertain. Step by step, she’s building trust at her own pace.
Just so everyone is aware, the cage you see her in is only used to move her to different areas. She is free to come out whenever she wants, as the door is not closed.
🌸 Flower’s Progress So Far:
🐾 She now trusts us enough to enjoy strokes and gentle affection.
🐾 She’s starting to feel safe in her surroundings, but she’s not quite ready to be picked up yet.
We’ll keep you updated on Flower’s incredible journey as she blossoms into a confident, loving cat who’s ready for her forever indoor home. 🏠💕
Please share her story to help spread awareness and show that every cat deserves a chance to thrive! 🌈
We’ll provide another update in a few hours or so, once she’s out and about exploring and settling into her new environment.
