Do any of you lovely people know of anyone that could foster/ adopt this gorgeous dog? She’s been in kennels for 7 months now 😞 ….. she has to be an only dog in the household. Please help find her a loving family. Thanks from Dixie. 🐾❤️

LOCAL FOSTER CONSIDERED FOR DIXIE. Dixie has been in our care for seven long months. This is heartbreaking for us and her. She is now on another course of treatments for her demodectic mange which has sadly raised it's ugly head again. Although we sound like a stuck record Dixie desperately needs home comforts and lots of human company. She loves people, her exercise and is one super smart cookie that would thrive in an active home. She is not a fan of other hounds however has turned many corners in our care and is very manageable. Today she has loved her woodland adventure and walked well with our other dogs. Local foster for Dixie will be considered as we send out again a heartfelt appeal for this gorgeous homeless girl. We have waved goodbye to some of our dogs this week but with a heavy heart Dixie is not one of them. We know her special human is out there despite our struggles to find them. Please call this week to discuss Dixie's needs in more details. https://www.goodlifedogrescue.co.uk/dog-11

These lovely doggies need their forever home. Can you help?

VERY URGENT, HEARTFELT APPEAL FOR LACEY AND DIXIE. We have two long stayers of the 'Lonely Hearts Club' at Good Life. We are extremely sad to still have these dogs in our care after six long months. We remain hopeful with a sad heart for a desperate need to find them the love they deserve. Despite many appeals, many shares, endless calls and applications our two special appeal dogs are still waiting. Both Dixie and Lacey have so much love to give and have their own special needs. They are best suited in adult only homes with no other dogs. A dedicated human that will not expect too much too soon is essential for the welfare of all our dogs. These animals need time to desensitise without pressures and high expectations from adopters. We work hard to match our dogs with committed people that understand that many of our homeless hounds have struggled a turbulent life and a sad existence. Please follow the links and read the details of the sort of homes Dixie and Lacey are needing prior to filling in applications. Albeit bias these dogs are adorable. They need dedicated rescue adopters who understand that many dogs just like people have special needs in life and are not perfect. We adore all our dogs however Dixie and Lacey's time spent in kennels needs to come to an end. There is a big wide world out there for these homeless young dogs to enjoy and explore as we send another heartfelt appeal tonight to find a special human being and a long overdue new start. Calls are welcome. Please support. Please share. https://www.goodlifedogrescue.co.uk//dog-6

Each year, thousands of baby rabbits, chicks, and ducks are purchased as Easter gifts, typically for children, only to be abandoned outside or left at shelters in the days, weeks, and months following Easter. A large number of these animals don’t live to see their first birthday. House Rabbit Society strongly urges parents not to buy their children live “Easter bunnies” unless they’re willing to make a 10-year commitment to properly care for the animals. Learn more: rabbit.org/why-not-buy-a-rabbit-for-easter

Anyone considering bringing home a rabbit should know:

• Most children lose interest in a live rabbit after only a few weeks.
• Rabbits must have an adult as their primary caregiver.
• Rabbits have an average lifespan of 8-14 years.
• Rabbits need to be spayed/neutered to prevent cancer and unwanted litters. Up to 80% of female rabbits will develop uterine cancer by age 4-6 if not spayed.
• Rabbits require a diet of hay, pellets, and fresh vegetables.
• Rabbits need to live inside the home for their safety and health, with 2-4 hours of exercise time in a bunny-proofed environment each day.
• Rabbits need regular veterinary care by a vet with additional training in exotics.
• Rabbits are not “low-maintenance” pets — they need as much care and attention as dogs and cats. It can take longer to bond with them since they are prey animals and can be more fearful.
• Rabbits are the third most frequently surrendered animal at shelters, and the third most euthanized.
• According to an ASPCA study, rabbits are more expensive to own than cats or guinea pigs — coming just after dogs in expense.

For adults who have thoroughly educated themselves about rabbit care and have decided to share their home with a rabbit, House Rabbit Society Headquarters recommends adopting from an HRS chapter, local shelter, or other rescue organization. Find yours: rabbit.org/independent-rabbit-rescue

Ensuring that your rabbits have access to plenty of clean, fresh water is essential to their care, but as it’s , here’s few facts about water you might not know:

💧 Rabbits that eat more fresh grass and greens will generally drink less than those that eat more hay.

💧 A water bowl is far better for rabbits than a bottle. This is because lapping water is more natural to rabbits and water bottles can easily get clogged and freeze in winter if your buns live outdoors.

💧 Clean water has various health benefits to rabbits, such as helping to maintain gut health and flushing out excess calcium.

💧 Is your rabbit drinking more than usual? It could be a sign of pain or stress. Check for any signs that might be distressing them or take them to a rabbit-savvy vet for a health check just in case.

Make sure to give your rabbits fresh water every day and that you keep their bowls clean to prevent build-up of dirt and slime.

Apparently there is a new ploy being undertaken by dog thieves. Having a white van with RSPCA stickers on and removing dogs from dog walking owners under the pretext that the dog matches the description of a stolen dog.

NEVER. Let your dog be taken by anyone. Insist they follow you to the vets to have the dog scanned to prove ownership by the Chip. If they're not for real, they won't go with you! The RSPCA will NEVER take a dog like that.

Phone the Police at the first opportunity with as much detail as possible and if at all possible take photos of the offenders and car registration. There are also reports of these thieves door knocking in residential areas.

We are at the point where our stocks of towels are running really low. If you are passing our Sanctuary and can drop off any unwanted towels we would be grateful. All we ask in order to keep everyone safe, is that they are placed in a sealed bags with a label on the front and left at our gate. We are just asking for towels atm as our situation with the weather means we are running short . We have put the necessary safeguards in place by bagging for safety. Thankyou.

HONEY NEEDS A HOME. This stunning Akita girl came into our care a few weeks ago from the stray kennels. She is absolutely stunning with a beautiful nature and a big heart. She loves her walks and is one adorable dog who is obedient and steady and extremely loving. At four years old she needs a home where she will have lots of company, exercise, time and most of all love. Honey has passed a full health check and is vaccinated. She will be spayed as a priority and strict adoption procedures are in place for all our rescue dogs. A large breed loving home is needed with someone who can accommodate her size. She will need an enclosed garden where she can run and play and a home with space. We remain passionate in helping local dogs in Yorkshire and our priority remains for the stray dogs. We are happy to say that stray kennels are reasonably quiet at the moment however we are in close contact and here for the dogs most in need. We are one of many rescues who have struggled this year to maintain such a high volume of calls and interest and along with this comes many pressures. We thank everyone for their kind support and have some thank you's to post later today. Please visit www.goodlifedogrescue.co.uk Please fill in an application form regarding the dog you are interested in having read their profile page first. Calls are also welcome. Many thanks.

😢This is a bait dog😢
He is safe now, but Look close, look at the defeat in this baby’s eyes, look at the scars and imagine what this dog went through. Now, realize when a dog is given away FREE and no one checks out the people who pick up a free dog, no one ask for a reference, no one checks the home....that dog can end up just like this!!! Dog fighter are wolves in sheep’s clothing. They appear normal, they send their wife or girlfriend because females seem safer. Be careful when rehoming a dog!!! Take time to check the people out. BUT contact a local rescue to help you.

Rabbits are a 10-year commitment, not just for Christmas.

Contrary to popular belief, rabbits do not make good first-time pets for children and are not a good Christmas present idea. As very misunderstood creatures, rabbits are a 10-year commitment and require special care and attention which can equate to over £10,000 over their lifetime.

Rabbits are living, breathing creatures with needs, not objects or playthings. Please think twice about giving them as Christmas gifts because rescue centres are inundated every year with unwanted pets once new owners have found out what is needed and decided rabbits aren’t for them.
