Snuffle ball appreciation post 🥰
Snuffle balls and snuffle mats are a great way to keep your pooch entertained. Treats are hidden between the folds of fabric, and this makes your dog use their thinking and foraging skills to find them! 🐕👀
The fastest treat hoovering award goes to…. *DRUM ROLL*…. Sunny!🥇
Registered Veterinary Nurse Hayley recently adopted puppy Ralph, and has been working hard to get him used to the toothbrush ready to keep his adult dentition pearly white! 🦷
We haven't forgotten the little guy. We have seen more rabbits and guinea pigs in practice recently. Our nurse Leanne is here to help support those who need assistance with their husbandry and care. She will be offering nurse clinics to trim any unwanted knotted hair, mucky bum baths and trimming nails. She will openly discuss any questions you have on diet, enclosures, rehabilitation, neutering, or anything that comes to mind.
Below is a video of Leanne's indoor winter enclosure for her guniea pigs 😊 we hope you agree that it's pretty amazing.
Please ring the practice to book in for nurse consults with your rabbits and guineas.
*UPDATE - OWNER NOW FOUND* Does anyone recognise this cat? He was handed into the practice at the beginning of the week with a facial wound, he is super friendly so we think someone must be missing him. He is not neutered
At Evolution Animal Care, we use multi-parameter monitors to help us safely monitor animals that are undergoing procedures under general anaesthesia. These machines help us to closely watch your pet’s vital parameters, including blood pressure, electrical activity of the heart, oxygen saturation and temperature. 🌡 ⚡️
Here is the second part of our oral health care series, which is all about brushing your dog’s teeth! 🦷 🪥 😁 #toothbrushing #veterinary #dogtoothbrushing
Oral hygiene for dogs and cats
Over the next few months we will be posting a series of videos all about oral health care for dogs and cats 🦷🪥 here we have veterinary nurse Bronte talking all about maintaining oral hygiene!
Further videos to follow will include demonstrating how to brush your pet’s teeth, and what is involved if your pet has to come in for a dental procedure with us 🦷
Please leave any questions, or suggestions of anything you would like to see on our page, in the comments below. Alternatively you can send us a direct message 😊
Sound on 🔈🥰 Here are two pairs of kittens (Sootsie and Gizmo, then Muffin and Toffee) that came in today for neutering, all munching away during their recovery. 🐈🐈⬛ We often use midazolam as part of our anaesthetic protocol for young cats that are being neutered - this means they usually have a hearty appetite when they wake up, and also helps them to forget about the experience of being in hospital. 🐾🤗
Thank you to everyone who nominated Leigh for the PetPlan 'Vet Nurse of the Year' Award. We all very much agree with you that she is a fantastic nurse. Here she is modelling her nomination certificates 🤣🤣
As you may have seen, Evolution Animal Care are participating in Rabbit Awareness Week for the month of June. This week we are focusing on the five welfare needs of your rabbits. We will be uploading a post a day on the each five needs. Today we focus on companionship:
Rabbits are highly social animals and should be kept in at least pairs. Just like us, rabbits can become very lonely without social interaction and this can have a negative effect on their behaviour and health.
The best pair is neutered female and male or both females. They can be either bonded from birth, or very slowly introduced, until they become the best of friends. 😀🐰
Remember we are offering free of charge health checks for rabbits during the month of June! Call 01405 812142 to book in 😊
Beautiful biscuit came today for her first groom with us, it looks as if she enjoyed it! Here she is chillaxing in the bath.
Meet the newest member to our team. One of our hand rears

*PYOMETRA AWARENESS*
PYOMETRA is defined as an infection in the uterus. Pyometra is a secondary infection that occurs as a result of hormonal changes in the female reproductive tract. During oestrus (heat) white blood cells, which normally protect against infection, are inhibited from entering the uterus.
Please give your support and like for Sheba recovering from surgery yesterday. She is doing extremely well.
