Jess Rimmer was busy at KMC this weekend, with multiple horses to ride in the competition and also in the ribbons. We were able to catch up with Jess at the prize giving, and we wish her the best of luck for the rest of the season.
It was fabulous to see our local riders this weekend including current and past students. This is one we like to follow, Sarah Perry Eventing, a talented past student and we were able to catch up with her by the show jumping arena! Well done Sarah 🐴🙌
What a weekend! Thank you to all of the riders and owners, we hope you had a great time with us! Our thanks to all the BE Officials, our sponsors, Kingston Maurward staff and our volunteers who made all of this possible. See you all next time!

Kingston Maurward BE Horse Trials 29&30 June 2024 - who's up for it!?! 🙋♀️🐴
Yesterday our Level 3 year 2 students spent the day at Wincanton Racecourse with Mark from Racing to School. Our students were treated to a behind the scenes tour of the weighing room, stewards room and jockeys room. They were also given careers information on all the supporting roles in racing and met a number of people without whom the races couldn't run...it's not all about riding!
A huge thank you to Sarah Perry for taking time out of her busy schedule to give us an insight into working and training her horses. Sarah is a local BE & BD rider and coach who explained how she works on a limited budget, so buys young horses and brings them on through the levels. She showed our level 3 and level 2 students three very different horses, and discussed the importance of working within their own rhythm and speed, whilst adjusting her own style of riding to suit them. As an ex Kingston Maurward student, she gave good advice to work hard, ride as many different horses, and learn how to ride to develop their way of going by using the scales of training. She demonstrated examples of working around fences to develop suppleness, riding in the middle of a fence to then be able to ride angles and dog legs. She was impressed with some of the questions in reference to jumping grids, reasons for approaching in trot or canter, as well as tack related questions. We are so grateful to Sarah for this opportunity and will hopefully welcome her back in the spring to see how she prepares for the new season.
Kelsey is one of our level 3 equine students who will be retuning in September for her second year. She keeps her horse Giselle with us here at Manor stables on part livery.
We look forward to watching their partnership flourish in the coming months.
Applications are still open for courses starting in September.

Happy retirement RedFred and Shuil! Thank you to their owners for trusting us with them, they have played an important role in training many students and will be much missed. We now are looking for new working liveries to join our team ready for next year. For more information please get in touch with Cat Broomfield
As the end of the academic year draws to a close we would like to say a huge thank you to all of the employers that have given up their valuable time to work with our students throughout the year. Our students have experienced a wide range of lectures, demonstrations and masterclasses which have helped to expand their knowledge and give them an insight into the equine industry. We look forward to working with you all again in the future!
