A tired dog is just simply a tired dog!

A trained dog is better behaved & a fulfilled dog is happier!

All a tired dog does is buy you time!

People often say my dog is can do this sometimes or certain places, insert whatever is applicable.

It changes because you haven’t shown the same picture on enough canvases, so that the picture means the same no matter what!

I think it’s important to understand the difference between corrections & punishment.

You’ll hear trainers use the terms corrections a lot.

A correction is designed to bring the dog back into a behaviour as something has disrupted the job that the dog is supposed to be performing! Over time those distractions will be less & the dog will carry out the task with ease!

A punishment will decrease or eradicate the behaviour altogether! So only used for unwanted behaviour, not breaking positions etc as will still want the dog to do those behaviours willingly.

Both should be done without emotional attachment, frustration, anger etc
Your just there to guide them through, into what is acceptable & expected in those situations!

It’s up to you to train however you feel comfortable & confident, whether it’s positive or balanced!

Confidence is the biggest point to make!

It’s not up to others to force ideologies on to you, their opinions are theirs to keep, take information, do research & do what you think is right for YOUR dog as long as your ethical!

A good trainer will show you everything, give you the tools for your toolbox but also work with you!

If it’s working keep going but if your not seeing results don’t keep doing the same thing without seeing progress expecting a different outcome, this goes for any method!
