FIREWORKS NIGHT AND YOUR DOG

Whether you have a new pup or a dog who is nervous/fearful of those dreaded bangs and horrible loud noises - here are some Do’s and Dont’s you may find useful.

🐶 DO exercise your dog in the
daytime. A good walk beforehand
will help tire him so he will be
more relaxed.

🐶 DO keep calm and laid back
yourself.

🐶 DO close windows and curtains,
put television/radio on and stay
in same room as your dog.

🧨 DON’T cuddle and pet your dog
if they show signs of nervousness
or fear. This is actually rewarding
that behaviour!

If you are calm and do not react,
then your dog will think there is
nothing to worry about either.

To everyone that has a new puppy 🐶

One of the best things you can do for your latest addition to your family - SOCIALISE!

Take puppy everywhere.

Introduce him to everyone and everything.

Let him experience all the sights and sounds inside and outside.
( Even before his jabs, you can still carry him about.)

Keep calm yourself. Show him you are confident and laid back in any situation ( For example any loud noises or busy traffic speeding by - just don’t react. If he sees you are not worried, then he will know he does not need to worry either.)

This stands you in good stead for creating a very calm and confident dog, who will be a pleasure to take out and join in with everyday family life.

Good luck and ENJOY!
