Solid wood firescreen.
This is a heavy piece of furniture and looks 'rich' with the wood having a beautiful patina.
20 inches wide and 26 inches in height.
There is a split in the wood, at the front of the item, but does not detract from this piece.

A vintage, standard lampshade, in a lovely buttercup, golden yellow colour.
The frame is a classic bowed empire, covered in a silky fabric.
It is not lined, which means the light really shines through the front, as opposed to up and down, adding warmth and ambience to any room.
It is trimmed in a braid and swaggered ribbon in 3 layers, at the base there are tassels.
The shade is in perfect condition.
Diameter at the bottom is 22" the top 11" and the height approximately 16"

It is a very weighty item
As you can see from the photograph, someone
appears to have added a bit to the back, enabling it to be hung, as well as lying flat.
Nevertheless it is certainly a lovely piece.
