Both are by Forinth and is a cross with both mares that we've done before successfully.

Parsnip - Buckskin/Dun C**t born April. Dam is Class 1 Connemara mare, Tallyho Callie who is herself by Kingston Cavalier. Correct foal with great temperament.
Likely to make 15hhs/15.2hhs.

Tilly - Bay filly born May. Dam is TB. Again another correct foal with all the potential to make a great eventer/competition horse. Expected to make 16.1hhs/16.2hhs.

Both are well handled and will be passported with SHB.

Ralph, our home bred youngster by Forinth has been out again today. This time at Bradwall Manor BE with Jack Mantel

Another top 10 placing in BE100.

Love the way this horse is progressing under Jack's guidance. He next runs at Upton House before stepping up to Novice at Burgham - so exciting

Parsnip's celebrating with his Dam, Callie, being scanned back in foal to Forinth this week for another perfect cross.

This combination really do make the most perfect cross who will go onto doing anything.

Visiting Mares to our stud - Natural Covering or AI

I had an interesting conversation recently regarding a mare owner's decision to use natural covering over AI. This was based on the assumption that AI was more expensive.

Here at West End Farm Stud we do offer both services for our stallions but with no difference in cost to the mare owner.

We combine using the stallions teasing the mares combined with selective scanning by our vets. Sometimes if a mare is shy it's better to have a scan rather than upsetting a mare or she's not cycling as expected.

If the plan was to cover a mare naturally but she's worried by the procedure or indeed comes into season before any swab results are back we always have the option to collect from the stallion and with 2 fully trained, experienced AI technicians on site we can pop fresh semen into the mare immediately.

We will always do the right thing for individual mares but we don't charge the owner a fee for inseminating. It's all covered within the stud fee for visiting mares.

Age is very much just a number when you look as good as this.
Fred at 26 just returning from the covering barn after an emergency shipped semen collection.

Although he's only available to a few mares he's still got it at 26 with his first 2 mares of the season being scanned in foal.

Delighted how this lovely c**t foal is developing. He’s connemara by Addrigoogle Silver (Silver Shadow/Templebready Fear Bui) out of lovely new mare who is by Lecarrow King.

This mare will be going back to Rebel this season. She’s already had 1 by him which was sold to a lovely family in Ireland.

Well the first of foal of 2025 is now safely on the ground.

This lovely c**t arrived last Friday unexpectedly as the mare was still nearly 3 weeks away from her expected date!!!

But went to plan and Thistle is a fanastic mum.
