“I thought my dog was untrainable”

This has been said to me time and time again. And each and every time, I love to show owners how their dog is wonderfully trainable. ⭐️

It’s all about finding the right method for the right dog. 🐶

I’ve had many owners tell me that I’m a last resort! That other trainers have given up or told them their dog is truly untrainable. 😭

It saddens me to see people give up so easily. I’ll admit, sometimes - in rare cases, the situation just isn’t right and rehoming is the only option, however most of the time there is an alternative! 🐾

Work with me to find that alternative.

Let me help you ❤️

I work with dogs who struggle with:

✅pulling on lead
✅ jumping up
✅ dog aggression
✅ reactivity
✅ fears and phobias
✅ compulsive behaviours
✅ and much more!

🐾 I LOVE helping owners see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Recently I had a conversation with someone who’s dog didn’t play fetch. Her owner’s didn’t know how to play with her, because all their previous dogs played and loved fetch. 🎾

Fetch is just one of so many games you can play with your dog. And actually, it’s not one of the best! ❌

Fetch, or repetitive ball / frisbee throwing is damaging for both the brain and the body:

🧠 Fetch causes excess adrenaline and cortisol release which leads to frustration and obsessive behaviours.
🐕 For their joints, fetch isn’t good because chasing can shift their weight distribution to their front legs.
💪 Repeated microtrauma caused by the sudden stops and skids and jumps can cause long term damage to both their joints and muscles.

In addition, for those dogs who love fetch, they may continue to play even though they are in pain, causing more damage that you aren’t aware of. 😭

If you are playing fetch…
✅ensure you have a warm up period first,
✅never throw balls on slippery or wet surfaces to reduce skidding, and throw the ball low down to reduce jumping.
✅Plus, adding a few tricks in between each ball throw will get your dog thinking again, instead of being focused on the ball.

😁Here are 12 ideas for better alternatives to fetch:

🧸 Tug games (see my blog on tug!)
🥓 Find it with toys or treats, and other scent games
🙈 Hide and seek
🗣️ The name game
🧩 Puzzles and interactive feeders (see my enrichment program for more ideas, plus a 60-day enrichment plan)
🏃 Agility and obstacle courses
🐰 Flirt poles
👃 Sniffaris
🏖️ Dig
⚽️ Football
🏃 Tag
🫧 Bubbles

❤️ Why we all love dogs ❤️

Why do we love dogs so much? You can ask almost any dog owner and they’ll probably tell you they adore their dog and have an indescribable connection with them.

One of our favourite things about dogs is how goofy and silly they can be! 🤪

From the things all our dogs do, like having the zoomies and tail chasing, to each individual dog’s funny quirks, we love them! 🐕

Most owners I go see even voice the thoughts of their dogs as they go about their day… as yes, I do it too 🤣 “give that treato immediately pleases!”

Our dogs can’t even talk back to us and yet we still love them as if they did.

They are the best at comforting us when we’re sad, they seem to have some kind of soothing power! 🥰

And it has been proven that living with a dog can reduce stress and is more likely to keep you healthy! 🏃‍♀️

Spend some one-on-one time with your dog this Valentine’s Day, and give them a well deserved cuddle! ❤️ 🐶

“Kevin has laid down in a quiet pub and settled down .... Progress!” 🤩🤩🤩

I’ve just had this message from Kevin’s very happy mum - she’s been working on this for a few weeks now and it’s paid off! 🥳

For some dogs, laying chilling in a pub is easy. For others, not so much. Kevin is one of those dogs who loves everyone and everything, which makes settling down HARD WORK! 🤣

But it just goes to show when you use the best methods alongside consistency, you’ll get the results you want (the best companion ever) ❤️🐶

Well done Kevin and family 🧡

Consequences of teasing and winding up your dogs!Forms of teasing: ❌ Pretending to throw a ball ❌ Offering a treat / toy and then taking it away❌ Putting a toy / treat just out of reach ❌ Encouraging a dog to chase something they can’t get, such as leaves when on a lead, or a squirrel when theyre behind a fence. ❌ Pestering, such as blowing in their face or continuously poking. These things, especially when done over and over again, can cause;☹️ Stress☹️ Anxiety ☹️ A lack of trust ☹️ Frustrated ☹️ And a generally unhappy dog.Two recent studies have tested (and proven) this. The first study showed that dogs understand when they are being teased. 🐶The second study determined that dogs developed a preference for a person who did not tease them, over someone who did. ❤️Moral of the story? Don’t tease your dogs! 🩷For more information on these studies, check out my most recent blog post! 📲 https://www.muckypups-dogtraining.com/blog

Training your dog does not mean you will “take their character away,” or turn them into a robot. 🤖🐶

We are simply working through problems so that you can enjoy their quirks without the destructive or disruptive behaviours.

As you can see below, my gorgeous molly is a very jumpy dog (it has been encouraged in a previous home), and although I don’t mind this, I don’t want her jumping at others. 🐕

After training, she still has her quirks! She still is jumpy, but she doesn’t jump at other people!

She is still full of character, but also (reasonably) well trained 🤣

10/02/2025

Anyone who feeds their dog Canine Choice! 👇

Last month or so Molly’s toileting has been irregular and she’s had super stinky farts. When I checked the bag of food the recipe has been changed and is nowhere near as good quality 😢
I’ll be changing her food very quickly now!

Your puppy is wild but you can’t commit to training sessions? 🤪

The biting and chewing is out of control, but you don’t have the time to meet someone for training?🐶

The toileting indoors is stressing you out and you still want the massive benefits of having a trainer on board, but can’t afford it? 🐕

I get it! I’ve been through it myself, and I’ve seen it all hundreds of times. Puppies are hard work! 😓

🌟 But they don’t have to be: I can help! 🌟

My Chaos to Calm Puppy Training program will allow you to;

✅ Reduce and stop all those annoying puppy behaviours, like biting, nipping, jumping up, chewing, and toileting in the home.

✅ Give you peace of mind when you leave them on their own.

✅ Give you the ability to take your dog with you- anywhere, not just confident, but also proud to show them off!

✅ Teach you how to give your dog a fantastic recall, so you can confidently let them off lead, even around distractions!

Take a look at the ingredients in your dog food. Do you see “Meat and animal derivatives”? 👀 This is a sure sign that your dog’s food is not great. In the UK, meat and animal derivatives include: 🥴by-products, including (but not limited to) feathers, horns, blood, placenta, hooves, skin and feet. 🤢Hatchery waste (such as egg shells and day-old chicks) 🤮Heads of poultry I’m not sure about you, but I wouldn’t want my dog eating that!! It’s surprising what difference a quality dog food can make to your dog’s behaviour, not just their health. It’s the equivalent of feeding your child McDonald’s and sweets daily. ☹️ Feel free to comment below or drop me a message if you want some more advice! 📲Ive added a couple of photos of a good quality and bad quality food - can you guess which is which?! 🙊

🐾 Why teach recall? 🐾

Recall is difficult to teach – no one is denying that…

However it is probably the most important cue! 🐕

Being able to call your dog to you fast can be life-saving. Being hit by a car, running away, roaming off-trail, approaching an aggressive dog, interacting with wildlife, engaging in dog fights…

It’s all happened plenty of times before, and I would hate for it to happen to your dog!

It takes practice but I can help you turn recall from boring training into fun games. 😁 ⭐️

That’s fun for you, but also your dog, making them more likely to come back when called!

🗺️ Where is Mucky Pups located?

I live in Driffield, but travel to Beverley, Hull, Bridlington, Market Weighton, Hornsea, and all the areas in between!

🐕 Do I do group classes?

I don’t continuously run group classes as I find people benefit much more from private sessions, but when I have group classes, i will advertise these on Facebook, instagram, and my website. Check out this blog post for more information: https://www.muckypups-dogtraining.com/post/private-training-vs-group-classes

💰 What do I charge?

I don’t charge per hour as my programs included a whole lot more than just our time together. My program costs vary depending on what you need help with. I offer a free discovery call so we can have a chat about the best solution for you and your dog. Book your call here: https://calendly.com/muckypupsdogtraining/free-discovery-call Check out this blog post for more information: https://www.muckypups-dogtraining.com/post/how-much-does-dog-training-cost

📝 Do I have a waiting list?

I don’t have a waiting list for training, however I do only accept a few clients per month. This is partly so that I have enough time to help everyone, but also so I can ensure we are a good fit for training. It is important that as well as me suiting you and your dog, you also need to be a good fit for me! That’s how we’ll make a great team and get the perfect results for you and your dog.

📞 How can I get in contact?

The easiest way is to follow this link to book a free call with me. Https://calendly.com/muckypupsdogtraining/free-discovery-call Otherwise, you can message me here on Facebook, instagram, or email ([email protected])

🐶 What type of dogs does Mucky Pups train?

All of them! I have trained dogs as young as 5 weeks old to over 19 years old! I've trained dogs as small as chihuahuas to as large as Great Danes, dogs as common as Labradors to as rare as a Stabyhoun, and dogs as friendly and fearful as you can imagine. My favourite thing about my job is the huge variety of dogs I get to meet.

👩🏼‍🎓 Why is Mucky Pups different from other trainers?

I am not just a trainer. I am also a dog behaviourist, which means that I have a degree in Animal Behaviour and Training. Not only am I fully qualified, but I have spent years and... well, lets just say I could have bought many fancy cars with the money I have spent (and continue to spend) to become the best possible dog behaviourist.
I also am proud to call myself a member of the Pet Professional Guild, which is the only international member association who advocate for force free dog training. I meet their very high professional standards and follow their code of ethics. I am compassionate, understanding, and design all my training to fit each individual (dog and owner's) needs.

📱 Why do I have to book a call? Can't I just book in?

It is really important to me that we are a good fit for training. Having a conversation over the phone allows me to ensure we get along well, our goals for your dog align, and my methods will work for your dog. I may also need to dive into a few questions about your dog's behaviour, and this is much easier done without backwards and forwards messaging.

📖 Does Mucky Pups have reviews I can read?

Yes! Most of my reviews are on my page, but there are also some on Google. I am proud of my reputation and encourgae you to scroll through my reviews to see how I can help you. Here’s a link to my Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/share/C6o49NjYMgdEhjWn/?mibextid=LQQJ4d

Mucky Pups Dog Training

Hi, I'm Hannah. I'm a qualified dog trainer and behaviourist who focuses on positive reinforcement style training – no punishments! This means that you’ll get happier, more motivated dogs who’ll be willing to listen to you because you’ll have such a great bond with them.

I’m fully qualified with a BSc (Hons) degree in Applied Animal Behaviour and Training, a Distinction (Triple Star Level) in Animal Management, and multiple human and animal first aid courses. My business is fully insured, and I assure you that I will work my absolute hardest with your dog, ensuring that you get the best care and results.

A bit about me...

I started my animal career studying Animal Management at Bishop Burton College. This is where I got to interact, handle, work with, and train many species of animals. I completed my work experience with RSPCA Hull, earning myself a voluntary position there too. After a year and a half, I was offered a job there.
