As an exhibitor of Crufts, people often ask me about the day.
Last year, I made a little video of Crufts to show people our day.
To gain entry to exhibit at Crufts, you need to have been qualified at a champion dog show.
This day last year is highly likely to be Nukka's last time at Crufts, as she was 11 years old ( Now 12 years old)
Nukka thoroughly enjoys showing.
Her class that she could enter on that day was bitches from 7 years, so for Nukka to gain 4th place was quite an amazing achievement for her age.
I have been handling dogs at shows since 2008, not just my own but many others for other owners.
It's a huge enjoyment for myself and team working with dogs I handle, as they also enjoy the day.
With showing, it's not just about the turn-up and going into the show ring.
It's about the time spent building a bond and partnership with the dog you are handling.
The hours of training.
The hours of full grooming are weeks before prepping and the day before being ready for the final day.
The hours of travelling.
Ensuring you have all necessary equipment and items for both yourself and your dog. Pulling it along on your grooming trolly to where you are benched for the day ( Which can end up being not only a distance but extremely heavy as it is filled with crates, water barrels and most likely a week's worth of dog things you may not even use!)
Ensuring your dog's welfare needs are met thoroughly throughout the day.
Arriving early and getting home late.
The most important thing is to spend time and enjoy time with your dog.
It doesn't matter if you do not get placement on the day.
It's the time, memories and enjoyment that you spend with your dog, which is the highest award you can ever go home with.
