Stuffed peppers have been going down a treat for our howler monkeys, Avyanna and Dargie.
Keepers filled the hollowed-out vegetable with soaked primate pellets, peas and kale - just listen to that crunch!
Food presented differently to normal is simple, yet effective enrichment used by our keepers for the animals in their care.
When you drop something on your foot and hope no-one noticed! 😂
Happy #Caturday!
Happy Wednesday from our wolverines, Floki and Helga!
Don’t forget we’re giving a voucher to every full-paying person who visits us during January and February so they can come back (and say hello to our inquisitive wolverines!) again for half the price.
The half price return is valid until 30th November, giving you plenty of time to enjoy a discounted second day out.
To redeem the reduced return visit, guests will need to provide a receipt from their original January / February visit alongside the voucher.
Miguel's birthday treats
It might look like a bushtucker trial to some, but for birthday boy, Miguel, it’s extra delicious treats to celebrate his first birthday! 🎁
Watch how he uses his agile tongue to scoop up the bugs directly into his mouth!
If you’d like the chance to feed Miguel, Bubbles and Lyra, check out our new close encounter experience with these fascinating animals!

Keshari had a work-out with his!
This winter, don't forget to feed the birds in your garden.
Over the next few months, it’s extra important to make sure our native feathered friends (and cheeky squirrels) are able to tuck into high fat foods, which will keep them warm and well!
See what you can spot on our native species feeding stations around site!

Poor Daseep was on the receiving end of a Halloween trick from Joao who jumped out on her when she least expected it!
She certainly wasn’t impressed and gave him what for!
You can find out more about our Sumatran tigers during our half term talk programme every day at 11.15am – who’s joining us?
🐾Pupdate!🐾
We’ve got an important job for our half term visitors, as we need name suggestions for one of our four bush dog pups!
Keepers have busy thinking of names for three of Dora and Twenké’s new offspring, but we’d like you to suggest the fourth.
Make sure you fill in a suggestion slip in the Safari Shop during your visit and keepers will choose their favourite after the school holidays!
As we don't yet know their sexes, we need suggestions for both boys and girls!
🐾Pupdate! 🐾
Over the past few days our four bush dog pups have been busy exploring and playing inside the indoor viewing den.
Now almost nine weeks-old, keepers report they’re already trying their first solids.
Section Leader, Sam Grove, said: “They’re starting to move about the dens a lot more now and mum and dad are also beginning to leave them to their own devices for short periods throughout the day.
“Both Dora and Twenké are doing really well as first-time parents, with den cameras showing them curled up together with their babies in-between them.”
Thank You to everyone who has answered our appeal for plants! 🌱
Already we’ve received the likes of lavenders, trees, shrubs, saplings and fuchsias and have been busy replanting them around the 40-acre zoo site.
The fuchsia flower heads in particular have been a hit with our white-faced saki monkeys, Loki and Rio, although Rio wasn’t too keen on sharing!
If you’ve got any unwanted rooted garden plants, which maybe you’ve divided, or simply don’t want any more, we’d love to take it off your hands!
Donations can be dropped off at the zoo’s Safari Gift Shop.
Please note, DZC staff are unable to collect or dig out plants from gardens.
Thanks in advance for your support!
