Brockswood

Brockswood We are a sanctuary in Sedgley, caring for and rehabilitating sick, injured, and mistreated animals.

Brockswood Animal Sanctuary is based in Sedgley, West Midlands in the UK. We care for and rehabilitate sick, injured, mistreated and in many cases abandoned and unwanted animals; giving them a safe and happy Forever Home here with us, whilst also endeavouring to restore and renovate the 'Cotwall End' site.

We don't receive funding from the Council or Government, and we are completely reliant on

the kindness and generosity of others in order to keep the sanctuary open and care for all of our animals. Every little helps and we are extremely grateful for your support - our work and successes are only possible thanks to your help and generosity!

We have now received the photos taken by our wonderful photographer, Tim Jones Pet Photography, on our annual fun day and dog show. There are a few in the mix also taken by one of our lovely supporters, Shaun.

We hope you enjoy looking back on them all as we did! Please do save the photos of yourself and your dog/s. Once again a massive thank you to all who attended on the day and we are sure you will join us in saying a big thank you to our photographer, Tim, who has captured the photos so beautifully.
For any further interest in his work, do head over to his photography page.

We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has donated to Callum’s fundraiser pot in our shop/cafe.
As you all know, Callum has been diagnosed with Cushings (also known as ppid) and a lot of his needs have now changed.
With vet visits, dietary changes and medication orders, the cost of his care has drastically increased so all of your donations towards this, help significantly!

All money raised in the pot are being put into his own personal kitty and will go towards veterinary bills, medication costs and his new specialised diet.

We are always overwhelmed by the generosity of our wonderful supporters and we can’t thank you all enough!

We will be keeping Callum’s fundraiser pot in our shop/cafe, so if anyone did still want to donate towards his care you can find this located next to our till. Otherwise, there are several ways to donate via PayPal/bank transfer (all details can be found on our website). Thank you all so much for all of your support and generosity, we couldn’t do all of our important work without your support! 💜

Oink oink! It’s me, Kevin, and I’ve got happy news… the sanctuary is open again today! I’ve missed seeing all of you lovely supporters.

From now on, you can come and say hi any day from Thursday to Tuesday. Just remember, on Wednesdays the humans are busy with “Work Wednesdays” 🛠️ – fixing, building, and making important improvements for us animals. So no visitors that day, but don’t worry, I’ll still be here waiting for you the rest of the week!

I can’t wait to see your smiling faces again 💚

You may have noticed Callum and Duke aren’t in their usual paddock at the moment. Don’t worry - they’re just spending some time in the stables so we can give them a little extra care.

Duke has been struggling with the flies and wasps that are bothering everyone this time of year. As a sensitive soul, he can be tricky when it comes to applying fly repellent, so the stables give us a calmer space where we can work with him gently. It takes lots of patience, but it’s important to us that he feels safe and reassured while we help him stay comfortable.

Callum, as many of you know, is living with PPID. Alongside his permanent medication and vet care, his diet and daily routines are also being adjusted to support him. Being closer by means we can keep a careful eye on how much he’s eating, whether he needs top-ups, and how he’s feeling day-to-day.

They’ll be back out in their paddocks soon, but for now they’re enjoying some extra TLC close to the team. 💚

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has kindly donated towards Callum’s ongoing treatment - your support makes such a difference!

Although our gates are closed to visitors this week, things are far from quiet here! After a busy summer, we’re taking a little breather to catch up on the jobs that keep everything running smoothly for our residents.

On Monday, we welcomed back a fantastic group of Dudley College Foundation students who helped us move our biggest sheep group into a fresh paddock – along with all their essentials like troughs, hay racks, and even moveable shelters. The flock wasted no time settling in! 🐑💚

Some of our amazing volunteers have been hard at work on the turtle unit renovations, while our terrapins had some health checks over at Proteus Reptile Trust to make sure everyone is thriving. We’ve also been busy with repairs, deep cleans, and updating every resident’s individual care records.

There’s still plenty left to do, but we’ll be reopening as normal from this Saturday. From next week onwards, we’ll also be closed on Wednesdays for our ‘Work Wednesdays’ – dedicated time to focus on jobs around the sanctuary and give the animals an important “quiet” day to themselves.

We can’t wait to welcome you back soon!

Happy National Read a Book Day! 🐷📚
Today feels like the perfect day to introduce you to one very special story… Kevin the Stunt Pig Extraordinaire!

This children’s book was lovingly written and illustrated by one of our wonderful (and very talented!) volunteers, with funds helping to care for the amazing animals who call Brockswood home. From our cheeky goats to our elderly sheep, and of course our very own real-life pig Kevin, every page of this book helps support residents just like them.

His story is full of fun, laughter, and heart, showing little readers (and big ones too!) that courage comes in all shapes and sizes 🐖💨

📖 You can get your trotters on it here:
✨ Order from Amazon: https://amzn.eu/d/j8uxjyp
✨ Or pick up directly from us at the sanctuary (and if you’re lucky, Rachael might even be around to sign it for you!)

So, why not celebrate Read a Book Day by joining Kevin on his stunt-filled adventures while helping animals at the same time? As a team of book worms, we’d also love to hear what great books you’ve got your noses stuck in at the moment as well!

We’ve been closed today while our residents enjoyed a quiet (if a little wet!) start to the week. From tomorrow right through to Sunday, our gates will be open to welcome you as usual.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, our coffee shop will have cold snacks only, as our wonderful chef (and director!) is taking a much-deserved break for a few days. The animals think he’s earned it too! 🐐🐓🐴

Looking ahead: Next week we’ll be CLOSED all week while our team gets stuck into essential behind-the-scenes jobs and improvements around the sanctuary.

From the following week, we’ll also be introducing Workday Wednesdays. This means we’ll be closed every Wednesday going forward, giving our small team dedicated time to build, fix, plant, and make the sanctuary the best it can be for our residents - and for you!

Thank you for your kindness and understanding. Every visit, kind word, and donation helps us keep this special place running. We can’t wait to welcome you through the gates again tomorrow!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made our Sanctuary Dog Show such a wonderful day! 💚

We’ll be posting a proper round-up soon once we’ve finished the big tidy up and had a chance to recover (there was a lot going on behind the scenes!) - but for now we just wanted to say how grateful we are to you all!

In the meantime, we’d love to see your photos from the day, so please do share them with us! 📸 We can’t wait to share some of our own highlights soon too.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support, and for filling our sanctuary with love and so many beautiful happy dogs!

We want to say a massive thank you to Moo Dog Training for sponsoring the rosettes for our dog show again. Lillie has sponsored the rosettes for several years now and they are always so lovely and we are very grateful!

We can't wait to see you all on the day. If you have any questions about the day please don't hesitate to pop us a message

Our Fun Dog Show takes place THIS Saturday, and we’re currently filling our prize bags ready for the big day. There’s still time for local organisations to be part of them by adding products, vouchers, or samples, or by sponsoring a prize.

It’s a wonderful way to:
✔️ Showcase your brand to a dog-loving audience
✔️ Support your local animal sanctuary
✔️ Help raise vital funds for our sanctuary residents 💚

Pictured here is Ben, our sanctuary rescue dog, who will be cheering you all on for your entered classes (there’s something for everyone!)

If your business would like to be involved, please message us here or email [email protected] – we’d love to hear from you!

Together, we can make this year’s Dog Show a fantastic success for the community and the special animals in our care.

Some of you may remember our little ducklings - look how fast they’re growing! Here they are tucking into their breakfast and getting ready to enjoy a lovely sunny Bank Holiday. ☀️

And remember…

✅ We’re open today and every day this week - our last week of summer holiday daily opening!
❌ Mon 1st September – CLOSED (but open the rest of that week)
❌ Mon 8th – Fri 12th September – CLOSED for essential work
✅ Sat 13th & Sun 14th September – OPEN

From then onwards, we’ll be introducing our new “Work Wednesdays” 🛠️ to help us take care of those big sanctuary jobs (and give our animals a peaceful midweek breather).

So if you’ve been planning a visit, now’s the perfect time to waddle down - the ducks agree!
