So this afternoon I visited the one and only Miley Moo 🐶🥰
My welcome was similar to what I used to get, but far lower energy, barely any vocals... the tail still wagged and that unmistakable staffie smile appeared 🥰
But then Miley Moo had her pain killers (recently had a little accident and ACL injury) and settled on her blanket and took a big nap 😴 💤
All in all it was Miley Moo but it was muted to what I used to get!
That's the downside of being a pet care pro who unashamedly was and still is attached to every dog I cared for. It's the seeing them slow down, less energetic, that once roaring fire of unstoppable energy and mischief is now a shadow of what it once was! A little greyer in the face, that cheeky glint in the eyes is still there but dulled.
The days of taking me to Jollyes at pace and refusing to leave the store, to her favourite trees to do the sausage tree game, endless zoomies 🐕💨 , the find it games, the very head strong looks and vocalisations that we're doing this.... are behind us, sad to say.
But maybe thats the point. Just like us our dogs dont stay young and full of energy forever. They age, they slow down, they go grey.... but in doing so teach us to slow down too! To cherish the time we have with them, to embrace the bursts of energy as and when they happen, to chuckle to ourselves when that cheeky side of their personality comes out again, to fill their days with love, joy and happiness, to take that walk in the rain and get wet....
So today we didn't go out for a mooch and play Miley's favourite games. We sat on the floor and just was with no expectations on Miley Moo to do anything and she chose to take a nap on her blanket after fuss.
Hopefully at the next visit you're more up for a little mooch 🐕💨🚶♂️
But you'll always be the Miley Moo in the pictures the roaring fire of unstoppable energy and mischief to me
Benn 🤙
