We've had a number of enquiries about or Shetland Wool over the past few weeks.
Sadly some think they should be getting it for 50p a ball !

So let's break down the cost for us to have it spun for you........

The wool we have at present cost.............................

Clipping £1.50 per sheep ( Shetland produce roughly 1Kg each ! )
Processing £60 PER KILO
Minimum needed for Processing 20 Kg !
Shipping from processor £20

So it cost me £110 to get 1 KILO of wool Clipped,. Washes,. Carded,. Spun and made into 50g Balls. !
you get 20 x 50g Balls of wool per Kilo....

Meaning it cost's us at least £5.50 to make ONE BALL OF WOOL !!
I have to shell out £2,200 for get 20 Kg processed.

And you want it for less than half of that !!
Don't start kicking off at me when I give you the price.

We sell it for £7 a ball. That allows us ............. £30 profit !!
That wont even buy 2 bags of sheep feed for the winter !

So don't start the " Rich get Richer " " Never seen a poor Farmer crap !"

Thanks to all the KARENS out there who think they should get everything for Nothing.... Less people are processing their wool.

Our rare breed Shetland Wool is fully tracible and you can even see the sheep it comes from. We process our wool because we know how good a product it is and want people to be able to make warm comfortable garments from it.

Well that was an interesting morning. Mains electric cables had snapped and fallen onto our fields in 2 places. Thankfully all animals are fine. Daisy wasn't impressed with the men in her field.. lol

So... SNOW............. Will it be happening. There is a VERY good chance. But charts tomorrow ( Feb 6th ) will give ma a better idea if it will hot coast or not. But yer getting it up the hills across the borders that's for sure. I'll update you in the morning :-)
