Pet owners can be confident that their pets are in the best of hands at Edinburgh and Lothian Pet Crematorium. I am highly committed to ensuring that each

animal will be treated with respect and dignity, and in the professional manner that their owners and I would want for them. I hope that by providing a local, purpose built crematorium, it will offer a more gentle way of saying goodbye. I am a warm, friendly and approachable, animal lover, dedicated to meeting the needs of you and your pets. Every animal is handled in a dignified, individual and caring manner. You are guaranteed the safe return of the ashes of your own pet. I do not carry out mass cremation, nor do I cremate clinical waste. When needed, I have the help of my (pet owning) family members who are highly skilled, caring and compassionate individuals and who are equally as dedicated and passionate as I am in ensuring that the individual wishes of each pet owner are carried out sympathetically and in a caring manner. This will allow all pet owners the opportunity to provide the farewell that their much loved pet deserves. Losing a pet can be a very difficult time, as they mean so much to us. They offer unconditional affection and companionship. Pets aren’t just a part of the family anymore, in some cases, they are the family. Should you telephone me and get my answer machine, please bear with me as I will be with another pet owner. Please leave your name and number and I will return you call as soon as I possibly can. I am regularly inspected by the AHPA (Animal Health and Plant Agency) and would assure everyone that intend to keep up this very high standard expected from these inspections. THE COST OF THIS PRIVATE SERVICE IS NO MORE THAN THAT CHARGED BY YOUR VET – AND SOMETIMES EVEN LESS. I am open Monday to Friday. I am closed at the weekend. But, please feel free to call and leave a message and wherever possible, I will try to return your call

Hi everyone

I just wanted to post a wee update with regards to the speculation that I am closed, or closing.

Due to circumstances (of which many off you will know) and the property being jointly owned, it now has to go on the market.

I don’t anticipate that this will sell quickly, and I’ll hopefully be here for a good long time to come.

I have been looking for a wee bit land for a good few years now, to move the pet crematorium to. I’ve had no success, but will continue to be on the lookout. I could move to an industrial site unit, but this is definitely not for me, or pet owners. It’s just not what I set out to do and not appropriate for this type of business (I don’t think?)

Anyway, please feel free to share this on any of your pet forums, and I appreciate each and every single pet owner who have come to me. I will continue to provide the best service and support that I can - for as long as I can. 🐾 🐶 🐈 🐹 🐦 🐍 🌈 ❤️xx

This is what grief is.
A hole ripped through the very fabric of your being.
The hole eventually heals along the jagged edges that remain. It may even shrink in size.
But that hole will always be there.
A piece of you always missing.
For where there is deep grief, there was great love.
Don’t be ashamed of your grief.
Don’t judge it.
Don’t suppress it.
Don’t rush it.
Rather, acknowledge it.
Lean into it.
Listen to it.
Feel it.
Sit with it.
Sit with the pain. And remember the love.
This is where the healing will begin. Also read and see more photos: https://samsungspec.com/the-heartwarming-story-of-a-man-taking-his-beloved-dog-on-a-final-adventure-together/

Today I had the honour of sending the iconic little film star – Greyfriars Bobby on his final journey to the Rainbow Bridge. There was so much to hear about this wee chap’s journey that I thought I’d share it with everyone.

Bobby, the Skye Terrier, was initially a stray dog who went on to find fame when he played the part of “Greyfriars Bobby” in the Walt Disney 1961 film. After the film was released, Bobby went on to raise thousands of pounds for charity through a string of special appearances.

Bobby was gifted to Chief Constable William Merrilees by Walt Disney as a thanks for all the help that Mr Merrilees had provided with film production.

From 1963, Bobby lived in Morningside, Edinburgh, with Chief Inspector John Turner and his family until Bobby’s death in 1974. His body was laid to rest at Mr Merrilees former home in Dolphinton, South Lanarkshire.

After learning that the Dolphinton site was set to be bulldozed and that Bobby’s gravestone and memorial statue had been sold off by the landowner, John Turner’s nephew, David Hunter, led the search to find Bobby’s grave. David was assisted by Paul Aitken, George Gordon and Paul Macdonald, to ensure that his remains would be found and treated with the respect that they deserved. After nearly 2 years of searching through trees and woodland, Bobby’s grave was located, and his tiny coffin finally uncovered.

David has vivid childhood memories of Bobby, and was motivated to search for Bobby’s final resting place so that he could tell his grandchildren that Bobby hadn’t been forgotten.

David approached me and asked if I would be able to carry out Bobby’s cremation. Without hesitation, I said yes. Not least of all to give this wee dog the final send off that he deserved, but to help his family ensure that his life and story would be remembered forever.

A special casket made from the wood of an old tree at Greyfriars Kirkyard will hold his ashes. The casket will be on display inside the church from this Summer, which will allow all those who loved the film, to pay their respects to Wee Bobby.

I said goodbye to my wee man Patch this week. He was recently diagnosed with congestive heart failure. I feel like he was taken too soon, but I know that even if we’d had years more together it still wouldn’t have been long enough 🥺

Thankfully I was able to send him on the last part of his journey with the help of the amazing Rhoda at Edinburgh and Lothian Pet Crematorium. If you haven’t met Rhoda I can tell you that there’s no one kinder or more understanding. I highly recommend you consider her services as part of your pet’s final journey. Patch was back with me within an hour, beautifully presented, and it was such a comfort to know that he was never on his own.

I would like to thank everyone for their very kind comments with regards to the recent article about the new pet crematorium opening in Musselburgh.

I have no objections to anyone opening a pet crematorium, but truly believe that this is just not the right location or setting for this. Time will tell.

Please know that all off your comments are very much appreciated 🌈❤️X
