Tigerlily Feline Rescue

Tigerlily Feline Rescue Helping stray, abandoned or injured cats where we can across Scotland

We are a NO KILL rescue
(13)

We are a small group of in home fosters who take in stray, abandoned and injured cats, get them the treatment that they need and then re-home them if the owners are not traced. We neuter/spay, chip, vaccinate, flea and worm treat all cats who come into our care. We also ask that a home visit is conducted and a £50 re-homing fee that is then put towards helping further cats in care. We also run Mis

sing Cats In Scotland, Found Cats In Scotland, RTA Scotland and Missing Pets In Lanarkshire groups to help in getting cats home to their owners. We are all cat owners/lovers and are passionate about the welfare of all cats.

🐱🐱🐱 WE ARE CLOSED 🐱🐱🐱

We would like to remind anyone visiting our page that unfortunately we are no longer operational and therefore cannot help with rehoming or taking in cats that require help. Unfortunately the rescue was closed a number of months ago, our page remaining open purely to help with advice or support for previous cats we have rehomed.

Whilst we do offer all of our cats, previously rehomed by us, full rescue back up if they require rehoming again in the future...we are not responsible for the cats future vet bills, should an issue arise. Once a cat is adopted, any and all future veterinary care is the adopters/owners responsibility. Rescues would not be able to support all of the cats they rehome with lifetime veterinary treatment, it's not a realistic expectation of a rescue. On that note, all of our cats when they leave us are flea and worm treated, vet checked, fully vaccinated, neutered/spayed and chipped. They only left our care once our vet had agreed they were 100% healthy and ready to go.

Anyone looking to rehome their cat whom has not been rehomed from us can check out catchat.org where there is a list of rescues for your area who may be able to help

Anyone with a cat previously rehomed by us will again be rehomed by us. On the off chance we are unable to help, we will secure a place with another rescue or point you in the direction of a rescue who may be able to help.

All funds we had remaining when the rescue closed were donated to Missing Pets Perth & Kinross and Cat Concern to help them with the work they do.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support us and keeps updated with any of the cats we have rehomed 😊 At the moment due to my health (boss lady) I have been unable to do a lot of the work I originally did. In 99% of cases driving up and down Scotland to help cats either bringing them into care or rehoming them to the perfect family. I do hope in future when I am in a better position to be able to reopen the rescue. This is something that we are all working towards.

Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding on this matter ❤

It is with the greatest heartbreak that we announce the passing of Shadow

Shadow had come to us for rehoming and ended up a foster fail for one of our fosters Jenna

Sadly a number of months ago, he started having blockages and despite all scans, tests and cultures being done, multiple medications and vet stays and thousands of pounds, there was nothing more that could be done.

He presented this morning with another blockage and this time the vets could not unblock him. His mum had to make the heartbreaking decision to let this wee one go to the rainbow Bridge

He was so loved by his family and given the best life. Our thoughts are with his mum and tiny human, Jenna and Poppy ❤

***LOOKING FOR A 5* HOME***

NAME: Bella
AGE: 4 years old
LOCATION: SCOTTISH BORDERS

REQUIREMENTS: Can live with dogs, confident cats as long as proper introductions are done and cat savvy kids.

Bella is very friendly, loving and sweet. She has won the heart of every guest who has ever had to stay with her family as she is straight up on their lap asking for strokes. Even folk who claim not to like cats end up liking Bella!

She has a beautiful temperament, she has never shown any form of aggression towards any person and she has always been so gentle with the baby. She is a very trusting girl. She has a close bond with Nova (her current owners dog) and that’s another reason why this is so sad and heartbreaking for them.

She has always gotten on well with the male cats, and could absolutely live with another cat if they were properly introduced. Her current owner feels she could live with an assertive female who didn’t take no nonsense. She could also live with a cat friendly dog and we think she’d be great in a home with children as she currently lives with a young child.

She is four years old. She loves to play with crinkly balls and fishing rod toys. She loves to climb and she can jump an impressive height. She prefers dry food, biscuits, dreamies, etc but will have an occasional nibble of wet. Oddly she won’t touch the usual delights like fish or chicken and she’s not much of a hunter.

The only problem her current owners have had with her health is that she is prone to obstructions. When she was much younger she managed to ingest the string off a fishing rod toy and this caused an obstruction that needed surgery. She recovered fine from the surgery but it was a lesson learnt to be careful with what you leave out. No string, ect. When her current owners play with the fishing rod toy they put it away where she can’t get it. The obstruction issue can be kept under control by ensuring she does not chew or ingest items she shouldn't be. She uses the litter tray fine, but her new owners are going to be very lucky people.

Unfortunately Bellas brother was mauled by a dog outside of their home (we shared the news article at the time). Unfortunately, Bella has taken to picking on the timid older female cat within the household and despite pushing to make changes and help her adapt to the loss of her brother for over 18months, her owners just feel that she is now unhappy and needs a new family who can help her

If you are able to offer the lovely Bella a loving 5* home, please get in touch.

Home checks will be conducted in person following the guidelines on covid. Our volunteers will also be required to wear masks at all times. A rehoming fee of £50 will be required on completion of a successful home check, which will be donated to another rescue who are still operational to help further cats in care.

***ANOUNCEMENT***

It is with great regret that we announce the closure of Tigerlily Feline Rescue

We had planned to get going again but multiple things have pushed this hard decision, one which includes the decline of Boss Lady's health. Can we ask that anyone who has/had monthly recurring payments with us, to make sure these are cancelled.

The funds we have sitting will be split between a few rescues/charitable organisations and we ask that you nominate whom should receive help.
We will also be donating some of the funds to Missing Pets Perth and Kinross to help them buy much needed equipment for searches they do to help find missing dogs

We are absolutely gutted to say the least. And hopefully if the time is right, we can reopen again in the future but for now, we must ensure that we are all healthy and safe.

Any cats we rehomed will still have full rescue back up with ourselves and will be rehomed in accordance with our procedure. And we will still be here on hand to give advice and support where needed.

We thank you for your understanding and for the support you have all given us and the cats we helped rehome.❤

Please check this link for the foods affected:

https://www.foldhill.co.uk/fold-hill-foods-ltd-is-recalling-a-number-of-products-it-manufactures-on-behalf-of-partner-brands/

If your cat has eaten this food and you are worried please contact your vet direct and discuss this with them

****************************

We would like to make cat owners aware, but please do not panic.

We have become aware of an increase in cats within the UK falling ill with pancytopenia (symptoms below). The Royal Veterinary College London are leading investigations into this.
So far it seems there MAY be a link to one cat food manufacturing establishment, which is used by several different brands.

We must emphasize that IF the cause, this is likely be traced back to a small number of individual batch number/s and date of manufacturer.

However, we feel there is enough evidence at the moment along with the severity of illness caused to advise not feeding dry food with the following establishment registration number: GB218E5009. The photo shows examples of this number on bags.

Again- at present we do NOT know that this is the definite cause, or which individual batch numbers or dates may be effected. We will update you as soon as we hear more from the RVC.

Temporarily use an alternative food with a different establishment number e.g Royal Canin, Hills or Purina ProPlan.

Do not throw your bag away. Do not rush to return bags or contact the manufacturers yet.

Brands manufactured at this establishment include:
Applaws,
Sainsburys,
AVA

Pancytopenia is reduced levels of red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets.
Symptoms include: Lethargy. High temperature. Pale gums. Blood in the urine or faeces (faeces will usually be dark black). Small areas of bruising to the skin or gums.
If you notice any of these symptoms contact your vet immediately.

We believe there have been around 80 cases, so compared to the whole cat population a small percentage and we do not want to cause panic. However, severe pancytopenia is usually a rare condition, so this increase is concerning and warrants investigation.

If you think your cat may have been affected please ask you vet to complete this questionnaire: rvc.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/pancytopenia

Well aren't we happy today!

Yesterday we conducted a home check for a potential home for Poppy and guess what....she now has a home!!

Shes heading off on Friday to join her new family 😊

Good luck in your new home little one 🥰

When we arrange a home check with you, be that an in person home check or a virtual one, can I please ask that you don't waste our time

We are very busy people who not only run this rescue and try to help cats where we can, but also have our own lives, jobs, families etc. So when we make time to do these home checks we are doing so around our own lives.

If you no longer wish to have a home check done, the decent thing to do is to let us know. Not only do you hinder the cat you are enquiring about getting a home but you waste our time that could have been spent helping other cats.

From now, anyone wasting our time will be blocked.

Thank you

We have read a fantastic email we received from a 10 year old with regards to a non uniform day or such like in schools where animal rescues are supported

This is something she is lobbying the education board about and needs lots of support

Introduce a yearly fundraising day for animals in schools.

Well today Keesa headed off to her new home!

A 6 hour round trip for our volunteers, but a journey they would make again if it meant helping a cat and trying to make the process for both adopter, and the family who make the heartbreaking decision to rehome, that little bit easier

Keesa was set up in the spare bedroom so that she could become familiar with the new scents and sounds of her new home. We will post an update when she is settled in 😊

Well Keesa has only gone and potentially found herself an amazing new home that sounds absolutely perfect for her.

Her home check is set for Sunday at 2pm and hopefully she will also be rehomed later in the week

If anyone would like to donate towards the fuel costs for the homecheck and transport for Keesa to her new home, you can do so in the following ways

Paypal: [email protected]

Bank transfer:
Sort code: 80 46 07
Account: 12432666

We would rather not dip into the savings we have at the moment in the event of an emergency where this may be needed for treatment.

Anything that is donated towards the fuel costs is greatly appreciated 😊

Although we have not officially reopened yet, we have a special rehoming for a former Tigerlily rescue resident

Meet Keesa, she is around 4-5 years old and unfortunately due to her hoomans condition, she is looking for a new home

Keesa will require a child and pet free home. She is a very skittish cat who loves attention once she gets to know you. She is a very shy girl and loves to sit in her garden, so will need a home with an enclosed garden or a quiet area where she can have some outdoor time when the feeling takes her

She is up to date with all vaccinations, spayed and chipped 😊

If you feel you can offer Keesa the loving home she needs, please do get in touch

Her owner is absolutely heartbroken at having to make this decision, but knows we give all our cats rescue back up for life. A £60 rehoming fee will apply after completion of a successful home check 🏡🐈‍⬛

Just wanted to hop on and let everyone know what's happening, as we have been closed for a while now.

Firstly we will be reopening. When that will be is unclear, what we do know is it will happen. We have a few things to sort out first before we move ahead, one of which will be taking on new fosters

Sadly we have lost an amazing member of our foster team - Fiona aka the crabbit human. Between work, family and personal commitments, Fiona will no longer be able to foster for us. She will, however, be staying on board within the rescue to offer advice and scan cats locally where needed. We are sad to see Fiona step down from fostering but equally as happy to see her remain within our team. Fionas advice, support and help within the rescue has been second to none and valuable beyond words.

We will be reworking the rescues day to day running, paperwork, etc. As this badly needs updated and reevaluate now that we are in a very different position due to covid, especially moving forward.

We have a good little amount sitting in our bank to get us started when we return and thank everyone who has not only been patient and understanding but also checked in on our team and continued donating throughout the pandemic. You are what helps to keep this rescue going and, often times, the reason our team keep pushing forward to do the work we do 🥰

We will update as soon as we have an idea of what's happening, our reopening, foster teams, etc.

Another post will be made with all details about potential fostering opportunities in the very near future 😁

Thank you ❤
