For today's last walk before Christmas, I'd have preferred that we'd scampered along sunny, frost-covered paths instead of sploshing through rain + puddles, but nonetheless, PatchPets Christmas & New Year Break has now begun!

Thank you so much to all my lovely customers and their pets for another amazing year - let's do it all again in 2022🙂

I'll be back in the saddle, raring to go, on Wednesday 5th of January. Have a fun, happy and germ-free Festive Season!!

Now into my first week since Lockdown of 'Walks Every Day', after testing the water last week. So good to be back, even with PPE and pockets of hand sanitizer!

So, how is everyone getting on, in these odd times?

Hope everyone's staying well, and getting the most out of what must be by now, some rather ordinary walking routes 🙃

Yesterday was a sad day for PatchPets, as we said goodbye to our great friend Dee Dee, who'd been coping with cancer for some months, though had been extremely spry and cheerful until only very recently. She had been one of our gang for nearly 4 years, and was a great favourite with everyone.

Found as a stray by the RSPCA in the east end of London, she was rehomed by a Dundonian, and made her way north by train, in a First Class carriage, no less! As you can see, she loved to get out and about: the park, the beach and paddling were her top picks. It was a joy to listen to her happy little grunts as she splashed along in the shallows.

Sleep tight Deedles. You'll be remembered always. XX

This year, with Christmas Day and New Year's Day landing on a Wednesday, PatchPets will be closing for the duration of the Festive Season, from Monday 23rd December to Sunday 5th January, raring and ready to go on Monday 6th Jan.

When it comes to driving electric, Dundee is simply streets ahead of most UK cities. Since beginning the switch from fossil fuels to electric power in its own fleet, the city council now has one of the largest number of electric vehicles among local authorities in the country.

What a great week of walks: slightly lower temperatures, and a guest appearance by Jack the Jack Russell Terrier, who fitted in with the PatchPets gang so well, you couldn't see the join 🤗

Balkello's shady paths and spaces have been great in this hot weather, with streams, springs and ponds, plus grassy paths that are cool under-paw.

Some of the more energetic dogs still needed to spend a bit more time on lead, as some pups don't know when enough is enough! 🌞🌞🌞🌞

Lovely late afternoon stroll in leafy, shady Balgay Park. But once we got home, Ms Sunworshipper here staged a lie-down protest about the end of our walk... (She was over-ruled. Sometimes, I can't give my dogs exactly what they want!)

New recruit Ozzy the Yorkie joined us this week 😀 Ozzy's not had much experience of the great outdoors, so did his best to check, sniff and wee on as many blades of grass as possible. Thirsty work 😄

What a day to be a dog walker 😎 Not so hot as yesterday, but shade and plenty of water still featured heavily ☺️

Here, Molly tries to get Nelly to play, while Nelly tries to grab a floating stick (but still has a ball in her mouth) while Milo stays dry on the bank, looking for a chance to sneak away Nelly's ball.

They pack a lot in!

With Balkello Woods off-limits today (they're resurfacing the carpark 😃) we went out to Dronley Wood. As you can see, it's just beautiful.

It's just been purchased from the Forestry for the local community, so we're hoping to be able to get involved with the upcoming improvements programme.

Unusually, we've had a couple of lovely trips to the beach this week, while some of the west end dogs have been on their holidays. The weather has been on our side, so much so that Murdo couldn't understand why I didn't come in paddling with him.
